Pretty nice anims in here. I only suggest that you make at least one or two more frames for that Kyo kicking animation, because since 2003 Kyo has quite the smooth animations, having that move exactly like the KOF 95 flow is a problem.

Oooh, I like what I see. Just an advice, you should lower that foot... like, a lot. If anything, I feel the difference between the two shoes' vertical position should be of nothing more than a few pixels.

Since I'm here, I shall explain what he meant with this image:


The one with a ✓ is fixed. This kind of mistakes are better fixed from the start before you animate the sprites. But I know you already made an animation. Well, better late than never.
I would also fix the jacket now.

I see you have two topics here about your sprites, I could merge them. But I'll wait a bit before taking action.

Wait, did you re-trace the animation from a video?
no, use the game with emulator and change the size of the image with photoshop, use as a reference the size of another character in the game and I was compared to its 2D version xD
and what the lifebars I mean this

thanks for that error mark me wanted to see if it could in the game play with the camera in different angle so it does not look like that but it donot
I was thinking more along the other leg out which was a few pixels above and keep that leg as

I'm used that way when I say lifebars I also mean the power that always give me problems when making stages xDDD

is a "beta version" of the animation, were originally 11 sprites but I quite 2, but stay well, fix the size of the foot of the other leg and reduced some pixels that lost so that it was closer than in relation to the other, is to be corrected some mistakes but at the moment I would like to do other animations, and the sprites have enough'll fix the details of clothing and I will add the original colors

I was a bit bored of doing the sprites xD I started to make a possible pallets (remember not finished the sprite so that no clothing colors mixed use different shades) guess that chars are based (except the first xD) ;)

2nd and 5th are correct, the 4th is not shen woo and 6th is pure coincidence that resembles but is not xD

Third is Goenitz, last one looks like Geese.

yes are goenitz and geese :)
I know that it was a bit boring is somewhat tiring make sprites, and that's a sprite test is the one that will use the base for the details of the clothes in the other sprites, and wanted to see how it would look with some color different xD

thanks, when I finished with the basic movements I'll give the details to the sprites, and end when ready to be programmed (at least one alpha version xD) and pallets are for the final ;)

i know when I add the details to the sprites I will correct those mistakes, for now I will do it that way to see more or less how many sprites'll need for animations, since many images they have and also have to go discarding the recurring

Hi, how long without showing anything
Today I decided to stop programming new characters (I'll finish are the ones I have in the beta version and to update the ones I already release), now I'm going to dedicate myself to improving what has to do with sprites. Before I only edited and towards some other thing but I want to learn more and improve as spriter.
Now I'm practicing coloring the sprites, this is what I was doing is not much because I'm just starting, I do not use many colors to practice since I some parts made me difficult xD

If you want to be sure with how you're shading the character, and also want to assure yourself that it matches the sprite style you are going for, then look through multiple KOF characters to see what they are shaded like in terms of clothing, skin, muscles, hair... and so on. Right now, the resemblance to the KOF style seems incredibly minimal, and the shading on it's own seems very flat and all over the place.

From the KOF games, there are many references you could take for Duke. Some potential samples could be Yamazaki, or Rugal. I also highly advocate you take a look at eFex's Duke sprite, for shading reference, as it seems very accurate to the sprite style:



If you feel the need to look for more character reference, you could always take a look at this thread. Reminder that many of these are fanmade, but still useful for looking for sprite reference in terms of SNK/KOF content.

One there is a thread for putting things like your work. For another thing this is going against the off topic rule. Maybe if you said he could use your work to help him or something. trying to make a sprite based on a capture of the smash bros ultimate, I did it with the same method that I use to make the effects for my chars well without details or lights or shadows (because I was never good in that part xD) that's right As the first image was, it would be the normal size, the second reduced to 50% and the third reducing the first to 40% more or less to be able to compare in the height of a char LR, that's why I put ryu as an example xD

That's the same we're doing, 4-6, I do same but with KOF XIV animations, it seems we both are basing on the long lost tutorial by Thedge when Triggerall forum still existed.

I don't remember seeing that tutorial, in fact I wanted to test if I could do something fast with photoshop using layers without complicating myself so much in the details
I did not do any more sprites although if someone offers to give details and colors I would like to follow it to the end although I would have to put aside many projects that I have not yet started

a sprite that I thought I had lost but it turns out that it was among my photos that I uploaded from Facebook years ago xD is from 6/14/2010 (as time passes xD) at that time I was learning to edit and to make it use videos that I found of kof XII on youtube somewhat blurred because at that time I think the game was not even out, it does not have very good quality because apparently I had not uploaded it in PNG

I always wanted to make a kof XIV char in classic kof style but I am not good at sprites, so I will try to make all the animations I can from luong, the images were reduced to a size similar to that of kof chars and They were indexed to make the gif in fighter factory, and the amount of images that it has in the original animation was reduced, if someone wants to help I will send them the images that it is taking, this is a demonstration.

the original sprite on which I base myself to reduce the size of the images to a certain percentage is the author HanayanDP

You still need to redraw basically everything from scratch, so I don't think it makes much of a difference.

Use a program that can let you use layers (Like Photoshop or Graphics Gale), draw the outlines on the top layer and fill the areas with the approximate colors and basic CVS-like 2 area shading (light, shadow). Detailing like the trademark KOF gradient highlights can be added at a later stage.

Having the basics already outlined should help a lot towards building an actual alpha version of this character

My suggestion is, as Walt said, to use layers.

Speciffically this way(I've been doing things with this in a VERY basic state and it's pretty useful):

- Layer 1: outlines and flat colours. This may be the perfect point for a basic CS start. As Step 2 will save you A LOT of time.
- Layer 2: Throw some light at it. Depending on the style you want, you'd have to place the light source in one or another place. In this case, I suggest you to put some light balloons on "chest/boobs", "shoulders", "head"(and part of the face if there's no hair bangs around), and upper part of her arms. Then I'd go putting one of these ballons in her left leg(femur and knee area), since it's forward and nothing covers it.

Now, blend layers(erasing the 3D model, of course). When the "lightest" balloon hits one of the silouete colour(the darkest), you can change them into the second(flat colour), so this will save you A LOT of time.

Basically wityh these 2 layers, you've got three colours in each area. You can make the next step as I do OR using a third layer, which basically is adding another balloon/line between the lightest and the flat colour, so you can have the intermediate colour between lightest and flat.


Basically, this process could save you a lot of time.

I like this idea to give her her turn to be into CVS style.

But, yes, you will have to draw many elements since she have  very different body proportion in KOF style model ingame.
smaller head, slimmer legs and arms...

In fact I would like it to be more kof style that cvs sprite is just served as a reference to see what percentage to use to reduce the images since the captures were in 854x480 xD

I did not know that I have to put it into practice since I know how to use the layers well as I did with an incineroar sprite but coloring is not my strength xD

That sprite looks amazing! The only problem I see with it is the feet because they look more like boots to me. I would take a look at Kim Kaphwan for reference, but you got the general idea, tho.

i saw one in kof style and it looks great
I'm using the animeget to get the images, first I'm going to see how many animations of the character I can get, then I'm going to reduce the number of images in each animation and then I'll start making the sprites, Although I do not promise anything I will try to do what I can

This is something old, I tried to finish at least one kof style sprite but it is very difficult and I did not have time to finish xD, as you can see in the image I tried to use several references from other chars but hey I'm not very good and I don't have as long as before
