So, Youtube is having this program where the community can do its own policing and can flag "inappropriate" videos for points. With enough flagging, you can go on to stuff like mass-flagging and such and take down whole channels with it...

I swear I am not the only one that sees this is an incredibly stupid idea. How is giving the Internet the power to shut down videos that they dislike under very vague guidelines going to help make the site better? It won't...

Now this is a potentially terribly policy it's worth being pissed off about.

Never have I seen the like-dislike ratio so lop-sided before -- one could see the carpet bombing of channels a mile away.

  • Because Card Fighters Clash 2 wasn't quite as good
1.Make new account.
2.Play "Youtube Hero" game and reach Lvl.3
3.Mass Flag everything you don't like and channels that do the same type of content you do to avoid competition.
4.????
5.Profit

Stupid amounts of abuse aside, I wonder what will this do to my Google account?

In the past, I heard that if your Youtube Channel gets shut down, you lose access to the gmail account and other similar accounts on Drive and Docs. Is this still true, or is it made up? Because I still have videos in my Youtube account and if the channel gets nuked, that could also nuke my gmail...

I have 2 gmail accounts. One with an Youtube account in good state, and other with an Youtube account suspended. It's made up.

Oh good. Because if it was true, think of all of the untold chaos that would result in lost access to email for people who have their channels nuked due to trolls.

That aside, I hope Youtube quickly backpedal on this matter. I will not hold my breath, but if the trolls start attacking other major company's channels like Ford or Disney, then I think something will happen.

I can only see good things coming from giving random interneters the ability to mass flag entire channels. /s

So that's what this nonsense is all about.  Great, now I'm going see my favorite entertainers get canned because of false-flagging and abuse of power.

YouTube, you done fucked up good this time.

Even money on the entire thing getting shit canned when the first wave of trolls hits level 3 and mass flags everything on all of Youtube's own official channels.

youtube has the same problem as facebook and twitter and any massive site really, where the rules for content are very vague as are the explanations for why content was taken down. mix that with giving regular users that much power and there's huge reason for concern
