So, basically it is cheaper to use banknotes as toilet paper rather than the real thing. Not to mention that counterfeited banknotes are probably more worth than the legal currency.

Maybe not at the same level, but around the early 90's in Perú we gotta change the currency from "Intis" to "Nuevos Soles" ("New Suns") because on fucking loaf cost 1 million Intis...

In post WW1 Germany a USD was worth as much as 4,000,000,000,000 Marks. They eventually coined a new currency by slashing twelve zeros from the former currency.

That's kinda understandable if you lose a world war, though.

Ah... hyper inflation.
That fucking sucks. I lost count of how many times we slashed zeros out of our currency during the 80s up to 1994, when the BRL was introduced.

There was a time I bought candy with 1 million cruzados bills.
