So I was editing a couple of characters, originally for my own personal use, some edits started to get a bit out of hand. Originally I just wanted to update characters with a Hyper Combo Finish screen and maybe some AI, but soon after I started editing moves, frames and whatnot, and while I still debate on whether to upload basically whole characters as "edits", I still want to share some light AI updates for a few characters.

Note: I am not a coder. All original AI code was written by MystikBlaze. Also, contrary to real AI patchers these are not top of the line, they just don't do as much stupid anymore.

I *AM* aware that my edits have been uploaded to mega and other filehosters and are part of the collections over at MugenFreeForAll. I've attempted put the hard version for Mech Gouki's folder, as i still have him throughout the years, but it still feels the same in terms of AI. Unsure that he feels any different at all.
I don't know if i'm doing it wrong or not, but he remains the same as always.

Did you update the .def file to use the hard version? Just double checked against VS Debuts Deadpool and he absolutely bodied him. However, your reply brings something to my attention, and that is that I've used the Mugen 1.0 AI activation method that is not reflected in the respective .def files. I will have to update the files. Sorry for the inconvenience.

It would probably mean that i placed the hard version in using def file to modify it to mechgouki_hard.cmd, to replace the original. However, after selecting him, it just crashes on me.

Yes, what I meant unfortunately, because the .def file does not recognize that the version has been updated. I've uploaded a fix (it's the same link), thanks for mentioning and sorry for the inconvenience.

I've added patches for Sasquatch by VS Debuts & Morrigan by JJkoolaid.
Not sure where I want to go with Sasquatch, but Morrigan's hard AI setting is pretty vicious. Links in first post.

I've basically completed some more complete overhauls of the AvX Captain Marvel and Ramzaneko's Zero.
For Captain Marvel I have recoded parts of her bouncing system to be more consistent and allow for good combo variety, with both her sHP and jHP being used for ground / wall bounces. Her gameplay went from generic to very exciting by doing this, although I had to implement more complete and thorough measures when it comes to dmg balance. She now also knows how to Push Block and Counter (pretty nasty one by that as it sets up a wall bounce).
Zero is basically a MvC-ified version of what was already there, added push block and switched a good bit of his moves around. Added an AI.
I've also worked for a good bit on zvitors and Harbinger's Poison Ivy and AvX Hope as well as AvX Black Widow, but with those 5 I'm unsure how & whether I can release those since I basically fiddled around in every file sans the palettes, so I don't know if I can just upload those as a complete character edit instead of the loose files.


I've also done some light changes and fixes (like being able to hit bosses with certain attacks) for Gladiacloud's Dormammu running on Vorse Raidier's AI patch. Have to check the best course of action to release those.
Did a good rework on Buyog's Hal Jordan, basically revamping his basics, power system and a lot of frame data on the supers, making stuff a good bit more consistent. Have to check which files are affect, however, but those two may be easier releases than the above.

Pretty much the same with Wucash's Etrigan, a character that I've reworked to finally have consistent comboing and hitpauses. Issue is I probably have to re-import half his sprites because a good amount of his gethit sprites currently don't use palettes for whatever reason.

Gameplay wise it's all pretty much done. Currently doing some more testing to make sure things generally work. Note all of the above have been made as personal edits first and foremost. However, I still have to check for rules on uploading edited characters given that in some cases I'd upload basically whole characters again.

as long as you keep em in edits where you currently are there are no rules against re-uploading the whole character that's been edited :)

Man, those chars you said are my favorites and I've hoped for them to be improved in terms of gameplay and AI. I really hope I can get my hand
 on them (either you release it or send me  ;D, anything as long as I can play with them)

as long as you keep em in edits where you currently are there are no rules against re-uploading the whole character that's been edited :)

Good to know, guess I have my work cut out for me in the following days. :)

- fixed a few syntax errors according to FF
- fixed a few hitdef parameters
- added a light AI (should probably give her another update sometime)
- changed some values around damage dampening. Hopefully I succeeded in fixing Hypers doing LESS damage in combos than doing them stand alone.
- according to the files I made an update to the .air file? Can't figure out what exactly I did there

- new, darker red color palette. New default for her.

   The rework is a compromise to acknowledge the mechanic while accomodating for the overall difference in gameplay and roster.

Should be the latest released by Buyog, though I'm not a 100% on this. Too many versions floating around by now. If it helps, the dl for Hal should be 5.525 megabytes.

They're some really good characters and some I wanted to have in MvC-ish gameplay for so very long. I've made it a point that every character in my personal roster should have an AI and somewhat related systems, so that was the point of origin.

I've put out a small update for Karin. Grab it in first post.

Karin Update 1.05
- nerfed her Lvl 3 damage
- optional harder AI. defaults to medium.
- fiddled around some more with her Damage Dampening, specifically with her Level3 hyper

€ pushed another small update for Karin. Hopefully it'll be the last.
Update 1.06
- fixed debugflood from statedef 9030
- fixed 9000,0 not being properly colored in roster overview

Released an edit for Megaman by DG.

- changed some stuff about Hyper Drill, mostly toned down block damage
- some semblance of AI
- had to free up a variable for AI, so merged variable for intro/outro

Updated Sagat.
Noticed that several of his attacks couldn't hit bosstype characters due to them putting the enemy into custom states. Fixed that. You can add any missing characters in Statedef -2. Updated first post and link.

Updated the portrait pack with 1 portrait for Ada Wong and 2 for Jill Valentine.

With the release of Magneto, Black Widow and now Etrigan I am almost done with my current set of edits.
I still want to release an edit for Blaze's Phoenix, yet they ask for permission in the readme. I would like to at least try and get that permission, however the author has not stated any means of contact. If anyone could provide some insight on how to reach out to them, I'd be quite happy.

As always, let me know if you find anything else that needs fixing.

Have you tried to send him a message in MMV? I wouldn't take the permission thing he puts in the readme seriously as his Phoenix has been edited dozens of times at this point without permission.

He had gotten an update for Mugen 1.0 by McCready, GokuSSJ4, Buyog2099 and DG some time ago, and yeah he still plays really neat. So all I did for now was adding a simple AI. Not sure I could add anything to that, really. For now, that release will most likely only be an updated .cmd file with AI. :)

I was expecting something, it fix up the Green Lantern chain combos, especially the crouching ones and their aerial rave, so that if I can be on par with the MVC style characters, as well as put an Advance Guard on it.

GL can already chain, just not zig zag. The only exception to this are is cKicks which are either cWK, cMK or cWK, cHK due to how his cMK hits. This is vanilla behavior and I didn't see reason to change this since his cMK also has a specific purpose. His Aerial Raves are also intact, maybe not super intuitive to use right now. I see if I can finetune that a bit more. Advance Guard is probably a good idea. IF I find enough reason to update him, I'll PROBABLY put it in.

If you expected more, than you should probably start your own edit of the man, or even better, do him in your own vision.

Hal Jordan Update 1.05
Update 1.05
- updated his chaining again, specifically the aerial rave chaining.
   - shortened start up frames of all aerial basics
   - redrew many hitboxes for jumping basics. It is now significantly easier to hit your target.
   - slightly increased hittime on aerials (up to six frames on heavy)
   - jHK now slams opponent down
- increased hittimes by 6 frames on cHeavies
- tweaked his launcher p2vel. Now launches slightly faster / higher, allowing for more consistency when aerial rave
- switched around some commands in the command structure
- added pushblock
- added alpha counter
- reduced his overall attack value to 90 (was 100)
- updated his AI routines with Pushblock and Alpha Counter codes by MystikBlaze

known issues:
block shield does not travel with block transitions (vanilla issues, visual only). This also affects the push block effect.
He still has issues with small targets. Fixing this would require a MAJOR rework of basically everything and is out of the scope of this project.
His AI is still all over the place. It's functional and arguably serviceable, so I don't see reason to update it.

A small patch for WhiteMagic2002's Psylocke has been released. Push Block has been added to the character.

Should nothing else come up, these may be the final small character patches for now.

Small update for Dormammu by Gladiacloud and its AI patch by Vorse_Raidier (you will need both)

QCF P has 10 more frames before returning ctrl
F sMP only lasts 180 frames instead of 300
QCB PP now has a selfdestroy time of 600, instead of infinite (which could lock out other moves)
Level 1 supers and sLauncher can now hit boss type enemies. See Statedef -2 for setting up additional names.
Slight tweaks to the AI (-very- slightly less spammy)

Actually, I did not notice. :P Fix would have been easy though. However, I uploaded the assorted files at moddb.com for better and hopefully futureproof safe keeping. The links in the fist post have been updated.

I just tested with no issues. Note that I edited Rose for Mugen 1.0, so I can't say if she'll still work for 1.1
You could try and download the original version of Rose (should be a folder Rose_MvC), then drop my files into that folder and have the following in your select.def:
Rose_MvC/Rose_MvC_Swanky.def

That's how I've set up my files and it works no problem.

I've uploaded a small patch for Beast by GladiaCloud, MotorRoach, and Kenshiro99. It lowers the volume on his screams and voice lines by ~7db. Link is updated in first post.

An edit of Scarlet Witch was released.
An edit of Omega Red was released.

Also, a patch for JubileeMVC by Gladiacloud, ShinZankuro and Kenshiro99 was released. I am keeping this patch separate until I can confirm there are no pressing issues with this. click!

Short update on the Flash edit. Not happening right now, but I did check several of Mr. Giang's edits, which are all for Mugen 1.1. While they are nice, I intend to keep my edits to 1.0. Retrofitting the characters and systems doesn't seem possible without rewrites, and I'm not sure they would work. Because of this, working off of Mr. Giang's work is off the table.

Short update on the Flash edit. Not happening right now, but I did check several of Mr. Giang's edits, which are all for Mugen 1.1. While they are nice, I intend to keep my edits to 1.0. Retrofitting the characters and systems doesn't seem possible without rewrites, and I'm not sure they would work. Because of this, working off of Mr. Giang's work is off the table.

There are 1.0 versions of his stuff as well. I belive he made two versions for most of his releases.

Hey Swanky, how you doin? I just want to say the work you have done for your characters is really good. It's nice and always cool when guys like you work on custom Marvel characters and getting them the proper work done on them, since custom, fanmade, and unofficial comic book characters have infamous history of not being the best made or programmed.

Thank you for your kind words. While I agree that some comic book based characters could be better it's still a lot of hard work making them in the first place. We should be grateful all of of them were made in the first place! :)

Comic characters done right are my favorites to have in Mugen. I have enough Ryus, Kens, Jin Kazamas, etc. i don’t get excited for any new versions of them because they’ve been done right way too many times.. so when a character from a comic or TV series is done good Capcom style it automatically has my attention

I think I suggested Martian Manhunter by efrencortes a while ago. There’s a problem with his super jump button. Might be some other slight things that could be adjusted.

You got that Swanky and Dakidbanks. In order for us to know what good comic characters are, we need people to make them all in the first place and I'm very grateful for the early palette swaps, voice mods, and other attempts at creating other comic characters that got us here today.

Updated Jubilee's Patch. She's now hosted with the main patch archives on Moddb.com. See first post for Download link.
V1.1 update
- Her Spark Wall now has range dependant on button strength. Medium and Heavy versions don't reflect anymore. Heavy version throws higher and further, with a little more damage.
- This also affects her counter since the 1320 anim now has more range. Deals little damage overall but knocks the opponent away.
- Some touch ups to her damage values and scaling, feels more consistent overall now (you may want to tone done the overall attack power in case you deal too much damage as I usually play with 150% life values)
- Her normals give 20% more power.
- 236x ground & aerial startup faster by 5 frames (slightly more consistent in combos, still dependent on RNG)
- couple of touch ups to her AI, should be slightly less derpy now

Also added a small preview video to first post. Probably need to get some better footage some time, and make Morrigan's hard ai a bit less spammy.

Someone did. Still haven't checked out that character. Neither had time yet to work on any other projects. Still working on other -non-Mugen- projects; I just squeezed in some work after I got permission to release Phoenix.

Alrighty... By some weird cosmic alignment and some other happenstances I wound up back at MUGEN again. Yay.

I've begun working a bit on Toni's Supergirl because she's a nice character that just needed a few touch ups. Not sure if she actually needs anything else because she's perfectly functional and pretty much bug-free. AvX bounce mechanic would work but not sure about it. Will likely release her later.

Change List so far:
- touched up her AI, it's a lot more aggressive and consistent with their moves now
- reworked some of the damage values - hyper damage values specifically, to make them pop a little more.
   - Max damage should be somewhere in the 500s per combo (some of the after hyper juggling / combo extension is weird)
- Added a Hyper Combo Finish BG (by Beximus)
- new Portrait, old one is now 9000,2

Also, I *AM* aware that my edits have been uploaded to mega and other filehosters and are part of the collections over at MugenFreeForAll. This has been done without my consent and I cannot and will not confirm these are kept up to date. If these break your game, your computer or even your relationship I will not care.

Update to Poison Ivy

Update 1.05 - Still needs a bit more testing.
- changed some anim frame times for QCF K and QCB K moves
- changed QCB K position from 10 to -10 on P2 and vel y to -10. This will launch P2 on hit, and the position slightly behind P2 will lauch them into Poison Ivy for
   more combo potential.
- changed QCB KK hyper damage from 250,10 to 350,10. More inline with other damage supers and also needed because this thing is otherwise useless with its high
   startup time


Also released an edit for Toni's Supergirl. Requires said character.

Small heads up:
I am currently working on Shazam by Logansam, edited by Prospectone.
Fun character but woefully inconsistent in its combo ability. My aim is to normalize him so he makes nice within the MvC-ish setting.



Current Changelist
 - normalized his health / atk / def values
 - Removed AI cheats
 - streamlined AI command input (still work to be done)
 - fixed inconsistent frame & hitstun data on normals for combos
 - shortened some specials start up frame data a bit to allow for better comboing
 - reworked Hyper damage values
 - added Alpha Counter (code by MystikBlaze)
 - added HyperComboFinish BG (sprites by Winane)
 - added quotes
 - fixed incorrect Super Jump changeanim
 - some stuff regarding damage dampening


Will also be pushing another small update to Poison Ivy in the next couple of days.
- added safety checks to QCF P and QCB P specials to better prevent infinites. Her Hyper Plant Grab is specifically excempt from this.
- changed juggle points back to 15 but lowered atk value to 90 from 100 because more juggling fun
This will make her have a couple of longer juggle combos and should elevate her gameplay a good bit. Max combo damage as per testing is 500 - 600 which may be a little high, I'll have to see and run some more tests.

Have set my sights on Black Adam by Dr.Doom and Trexrell after. Looks fun and has potential, but also a boat load of issues as of now.

I did look at him at one point and I'm not very interested in doing him.

Also mailed Logansam about permission for releasing a Shazam edit a while back. Didn't get an answer which means that he is off the table for now.
