QuickFist Pixel Art (Feedback appreciated)

So I started doing pixel art yesterday. I want to learn how to sprite so I can make my game. I'll show what I do here. I'd appreciate any feedback you have and even more if you point me in the direction of a good tutorial for spriting.

This was the first thing I did, a nice apple:

Well done, my only suggestion would be to avoid the pixel lines that looks like a ladder, for example in his forehead or jaw, it does look good in that style but I have seen its commonly recommended to avoid it, doing something more like his nose.

Its a good start.
