I've seen a lot of posts in release threads lately about people having problems downloading from 4shared, because it's gone register only.  Now what I'm about to impart in this topic may be fairly common knowledge, but there are people who don't know about it so I want them to become aware.

Bugmenot is a website with dummy accounts for websites that require registration to access their features.  As you would expect, they do have a page for 4shared.  Simply use one of these accounts to log in to 4shared and download as you please.  Simple enough, right?

Again, a lot of newbies may not be aware of this, so the purpose of this topic is to inform anyone having trouble with 4shared, it is not meant for those of us already familiar with the site.  I hope this helps someone out.

I forgot about this site long time ago.

Just recently tested 4 dummy accounts, half of them works, the others doesn't.

Thanks MC, this should do, even if I have a 4shared account.

in my experience bugmenot's accounts fail more often than what they work so I just use a dummy account that I set up for signing to generic sites.

i.e. it takes me longer to find a working bugenot account than to register a generic one.

I usually download a lot of stuff from 4shared apart of MUGEN, so I "made" an account using facebook (log in with it only) and I get recorded in my PCs (in home and office), so anytime I want to download something, there's my "account" to download anything I want.

Also, I agree with some of here about Bugmenot makes more problems than just registering. Maybe you should do what I did, it's simple and 4shared doesn't complain about upload something, download too much and that kind of stuff :P

also slightly off topic but could someone tell me how the hell to download from yahoojapan? been trying to download some of tora's stuff and nothing seems to be happening

When I go for Tora's stuff it sends me to a folder with the files in it (like say his Real Bout 2 stuff), I click on the file name of whoever and it takes me to the DL manager. There should be a box under the left hand corner where the file name is with a blue arrow pointing down. Click that and it should start the download.

It works for other download websites that force you to do a free registration to be able to download. Obviously, it doesn't give you any Premium account nor forum account, so don't attempt that.

Yeah MediaFire!

I also used to like 4shared until I started to have problems with the registration roadblock.

I am not registration for a tiny file. If I wanted to register, I'll do it for its full benefits.

I wouldn't say "yeah Mediafire"...

They've been going crazy deleting accounts lately. For "Copyrights".

DropBox is better for this... Though the 2 gig limit could be annoying. Still. It's a simple site regardless.

afaik, with mediafire you only have to "encrypt" the filenames.

Not anymore, even the encrypted files are going down by MediaFire, there're still few that can be saved. Since a few of years MF is going awful >_<
