Should I play with a keyboard?

Hello guys!

I'm starting to make a transition from shooters to fighters. I've started playing full games on Mugen untill I can get a console for like Super street fighter 4 or something.

My question to you is, should I play on my keyboard until I can get a fight stick?

Seems like the best idea considering how keyboard and stick are similar in function (all buttons/keys are at your fingertips).

That's true. Some people have said it's much harder to do combos while using keyboard.

The only disadvantage of a keyboard is doing a 360 motion. It's hard as balls to pull off but possible.

Otherwise, a keyboard is a fine option for playing fighting games.

The easiest way to pull the 360º command is when you're jumping. In the middle of the jump, start inputting it. When you land, you will need to press the attack button and that's it.

The hardest is 720º. God, the trick above doesn't work well. It depends a lot on how high the character can jump and how fast your fingers are. Another hard one is inputting Geese's Raging Storm command. Have fun pulling that with a keyboard.

HCB/HCFx2 and Somersault Justice motions are also hard as balls.

It's all really a matter of preference and budget. I play the Moojinz on a keyboard, and all other fighters outside of the incredibly rare arcade I play with a controller. You don't really see many arcades around any more, and the fact that I've spent more time playing fighters at home than I have at an arcade made me comfortable with a controller instead of a typical stick setup. If you want, I suggest checking out this video by Maximillian. It's a pretty good summary of the whole stick vs. controller/keyboard option.

I would try a keyboard, controller, and stick. And settle on the one that feels best.

I would suggest avoiding the keyboard because if you decide to play fighters on a console you probably can't use it.

I never had problems with this one, only problem on keyboard are Justice's and Dizzy's (GG) final moves (dont remember name, neither combination, they are about 9 directions buttons).

I use a keyboard, with a rare occasional use of the Xbox 360 controller.

If you don't plan to play competitive mugen a keyboard is ok, it will become even more useful when and if you get on creating.

I will say, though, that Logitech rumble pad had the best D-Pad I've ever used in my life... it's too bad the trigger buttons on those love to die.
