Tetsuya and Miki Kurosawa had long been famous for their mastery of their fighting style, passed down through their family lines and merged with personal touches from each user. It was expected that any of their children would become master martial artists.
As it turned out, that prediction was dead on.
Kaneda, their first and only child, absorbed his parents' lessons like a sponge, taking rapid strides in the family style on a daily basis.
As he grew older, he began to attract attention and fame beyond that of most young athletes.
By age 15, he'd won several of Japan's most prestigious youth tournaments, and was considered a rising star in the world of martial arts.
When he graduated high school, he had his choice of universities thanks to the sheer amount of scholarship money being thrown his way.
However, Kaneda's meteoric rise to fame took a momentary hit. At age 18, while off from school, he won in the men's division of a tournament, and fought the winner of the women's division, "Red Pheasant" Xia Chen, in an exhibition match. Despite his years of training and hard work, Xia's speed and ferocity overwhelmed him, and he lost.
Feeling that his defeat was a sign that he had become sloppy, Kaneda resolved to rededicate himself to his art, one punch at a time.
After spending every hour of the day undergoing harsh, isolated training with his parents, a new and improved Kaneda entered the Lensman Tournament. With newfound calm and mmaturity, he intended to quiet all the whispers that popped up during his absence from the fighting circuit, claiming that his defeat had broken him.
And his rematch with his rival would be the prime opportunity for that.

Kaneda's gameplay style revolves around shorter and sweeter combos, and not very much in the way of juggling. If used incorrectly, some of his heavier-hitting moves will leave you at a severe disadvantage, so avoid using them carelessly if you can help it--however, his normals and damage are all-around good enough to compensate for his flaws.
