You can have several intros with different animatins, and then mix it up.

That animation on the bottom is his jump up animation, for when he flies upwards.
If its gonna behave like maxima maybe you could consider having it as a telekinesis move where he motions his hand and a huge chunk of rock falls from above, it will be less work for you and look more natural than a vertical headbutt.

For the horizontal headbutt its a matter of timing, if the frame where he is tensed up in the ground lasts a few more ticks then imediately transitions into him flying headfirst at a high velocity it will look like a snapback effect.
