Thousands is nothing compared to the dozens of millions who died to the latter.Italy is losing a hundred people a day. Give it some time.
I personally think people are overreacting. Sure, it has victimized a large number of people, but the media is overhyping it to being the next Black Plague. Thousands is nothing compared to the dozens of millions who died to the latter. Also, my mother asked me to lend her $3,000 last week to stock up, but I flatly said no because that's like a month and a half of my work wages being blown over overhyped bullshit.
Either way, being the quiet city with a relatively small population that is Erie, Pennsylvania... the worst that happened here are face masks being out of stock.
Spoiler, click to toggle visibilty
Do note those who have died are people around 75+ years old. COVID is to take into account, but it's nowhere as lethal as other viruses mankind has dealt with before. The problem is that hospitals soon get submerged and do not have enough equipment to accommodate everyone and they end up refusing anyone who's not in a critical condition (regardless of the sickness or physical condition) and the doctors end up picking those who have a better chance of survival and just watch the others die right in front of them. Oh, you've got cancer ? You'll have to wait a couple months because this is really not a good time to flush your immune system down the toilets. Broken arm ? Sit it out.
I live in Italy and a lot of bad things happened.... Holy shit, I got a bit confused so I looked it up, but you mean 300 deaths just today ? God damn.
More than 300 deaths have been confirmed.
I'm in Burlington, North Carolina and unfortunately I work for Domino's Pizza as a driver. Last week was one of our slowest ever, but now that the restaurants here in NC are ordered closed aside from takeout and delivery, I anticipate a ridiculous amount of business. That sounds cool and all, because at least my job is safe for now, but we'll be offering no-contact deliveries and I am sure the tips will go down, plus the area I'm in is pretty conservative and there are a lot of people ignoring the warnings.
My biggest concern is that ever since my sister got evicted, my mom (who was living with her since my dad passed in 2014) has been staying with me. She collects disability for chronic COPD, and at her age, she's a very high risk for this virus. I have some money saved but not enough to miss work. So now I get to go to work and make all these deliveries, exposing myself to the virus every day for $8 an hour plus tips, and worry about bringing it home with me. I wash my hands compulsively and have been following all the suggestions for staying healthy, but I'm still pretty fucking worried.
My county has 13 confirmed cases so far, not sure if there is any deaths, could be wrong. California alone is at 749 cases and 13 deaths.
Stay Healthy people!
Reporting from Chile. Here, the hysteria takes all and most of the people are overselling the fear. Most of the cases come from the high-class who travelled to Asia and Europe who got the virus here, but since the Chilean press is so tabloid (and with 0 credibility since the 2019 protests) and the govenment is so useless and stupid, the panic got most of the country and now the classes are suspended in the whole country and in some works too. the rate is low until now (156 until today, almost all in peripheral counties where the high-class people lives), but we're the in second place in latin America after brazil. What about Bad Mr. Frosty, Boogerman, Tiny, High Five, and CF63 1/3 Lifebars?
But also, probably we're in the first place in the world for the memes about this (since the bat soup thing to the mofos who bought all hygienic supplies for themselves or to resell), so we could die here, but hey, at least we had some laughs, right? and "all of canada", means that the population of canada is more spread than in california, so I say california is not doing much worse than canada , if not otherwise.Yeah, similarly I was thinking, how did it reach Colorado, GLB ? Literal middle of the country with a whole lot of nothing and no one all around. Did it get here through the Denver airport or is there that much passage ?
population of canada 37.59 million
population of california 39.56 million

I live in the lower mainland area of BC, aka Greater Vancouver. population of 2.5 million, due to the close proximity to Seattle, and population density our cases have started to explode. Right now they are only testing people in critical condition and the numbers are skyrocketing. 180+ already. Our Government waited way too long to mandate anything and even two weeks ago was saying, "oh yeah go outside, spend money."
We just declared a state of emergency today. Thankfully I can work from home, and business hasn't suffered to much. but we already dropped like 25% and I'm worried if it will get worse. Even though its in Canada, we are owned by an American multi-national, so we could all get rolled over so some execs portfolio doesn't dip too low.
When all of Canada is still under 600 cases, that is fuckin ludicrous. I assume Florida alone is likely a breeding ground right now...
Please consume good food, take your vitamins/supplements, exercise, and keep your health strong American brothers!
What about Bad Mr. Frosty, Boogerman, Tiny, High Five, and CF63 1/3 Lifebars?I've been disconnnected from MUGEN since november for various reasons, but I'll eventually come back for them...
heard some big pharm in the US is having a legal battle with china for the vaccine cause they want to patent the vaccine and sell it to people.A few days ago Trump got told to piss off for trying to buy a German company that's working on a vaccine, because he wanted only the US to have it.

I live in Kentucky, in a very rural county. Started gettin' concerned about this whole thing about a week ago, and now I'm very concerned. No confirmed cases in our county yet, although there are rumors of a case in the county. There are cases starting to creep towards us from the outermost counties. Schools are closed, non-essential businesses are supposed to be closed, and restaurants are carry-out and delivery only.
I work at a CPA office, and I don't believe we're going to close unless there's a government mandated shutdown of all businesses. My boss and a coworker are working from home, and half the people at the office are freaking out and considering staying home, which won't make things any easier for me and my other coworkers.
I'm not worried about myself, I'm worried about my grandparents. They're in their 60's, 70's, and 80's and all but one of them are in rough shape as it is. As someone who has lived minutes away from their grandparents their whole life, it's killing me to not go over there and see them. I'm afraid to go hang out with my dad and brothers as well, since my dad goes up to take stuff to my grandparents and I don't wanna risk passing it along to my brothers or dad to get it passed along to my grandparents. It's been my weekend routine my whole life to go visit all of them, and now having to abstain from doing it out of fear for their well-being isn't very fun, to put it mildly. It's funny, my daily routine itself hasn't really changed, but just the fact of knowing what's going on seems to give off a strange vibe.
Mexico now has 164 cases with two confirmed deaths.
And China is not wasting time on sending help to Europe aand Latin America.
Everything is closed even after April 3rdNot anymore. The situation is too serious.

Soon we'll overcome this huge mess.I hate being pessimistic, but I highly doubt it. Many Italians have made stupid despite the prohibitions.
Well, an employee at my job has it, been confirmed. Store management pulled us aside yesterday. Supposedly this person has been contained for 4 days as of today; but was at work for 2 days while contagious.jeez... dude you shouldn't be even touching your doorknob. you're one of the 20% who gets it bad.
The CDC will be coming in too answer our questions. Not sure if they're closing us or testing us. I'm a little scared. I've got diabetes and heart disease, which I'm told is very dangerous during this time, and they will not allow us too leave work without a doctor's excuse and they don't provide me insurance as a manager until I've done it for 2 years. Which i have 3 months left, haven't managed that long.
I'm a little peeved too, every grocery store gave their employees hazard pay, safety precautions, etc. Our company gave us nothing... Except a 25$ gift card TO THE STORE. And an agreement too file for PTO if we catch the virus..no guarantee though.
even when will china continue to spread diseases around the world?Don't be a xenophobic.
I mean, that is still small change compared to over 60% of Europe literally gone in less than a decade, even with comparing hundreds a day being factored in.
Not saying it isn't tragic and alarming, but I do think it's being overblown to the point that it's causing more harm than good at times.
even when will china continue to spread diseases around the world?Don't be a xenophobic.
I'm fucked, I am a tattoo artist, we shut down the shop, to avoid any risks, but tattoo is my only income, I don't know how I will pay my bills.
I'm trying to get some freelance jobs as an illustrator/Graphic Designer, but didn't have any luck.
Also, the president here in Brazil, still treats this as a joke and don't even care.
and yes media is over blowing itNo, they're not. Here in France we've been hitting a hundred deaths per day even though we've been in total isolation for a week, and Italy is at over 600 deaths a day. Germany seems to have just started reacting, after a week of every local state saying "I'll decide if I'm in danger at my own pace, thank you very much" which is exactly what a virus like that needs to propagate super fast, so they'll have a pretty bad curve in a couple of weeks too. People in Florida were partying around like they don't give a fuck, that's going to change real fast.
treats this as a joke and don't even care. You mean like China did in its early stages and how it led the world to this current situation!?
i'm surprised how well philippines and india are doing.

I will repeat again, don't be a xenophobic.treats this as a joke and don't even care. You mean like China did in its early stages and how it led the world to this current situation!?
I will repeat again, don't be a xenophobic.
We have had around 30-40 new cases today. Things are starting to escalate.Think it could be worse. Here in Chile, we're in level 4 but some people (especially the jerkasses of my government) still treats it like level 2. here they've to make curfew (we're in it now, since 10pm to 5am), as if that would solve something (especially with high class people going to other states to "vacation" and companies still requering people to work during the pandemia)
I wasn't being xenophobic, just exposing your double standards. Shame on me for trying to argue with NPCs I guess...Don't call other people NPCs. While we're at it, stop spreading idiotic conspiracy theories.
Please do the honours, I want to help you out with building your safe space.LMAO
In the case of my country, a lot of this could have been prevented if we had a more competent President for this country. Trump had months of warning in advance of an impeding disease before it ever broke news and he treated the whole notion as light jest. Then, when the problem does make an arrival here, he still is taking this lightly and that's why we have bullshit like panic buyings, riots and xenophobia running amok. I think that is part of the reason why I am angry about this whole thing.
Incompetence of the government and the fear-mongering caused by media misinformation making the problem worse than it already is.
Honestly, Benjamin Franklin must be rolling in his grave with how far the USA's politics have degenerated.
For the record Wuhan immediately sent out a health advisory about corona virus to all its hospitals when the doctors presented evidence of it, and then the next day China notified the WHO about it. You're an idiot.treats this as a joke and don't even care. You mean like China did in its early stages and how it led the world to this current situation!?

Finally, frivolous numbers given the overall gravity of the situation, but I feel it must be said. Experts claim that up to 70% of Americans will get infected in the next 18 months. That's laughably inaccurate, and the natural skeptic in me wonders why they'd use such a crazy high number. Current number of cases in the US are at 35,000. To get to even 1%, that number would have to spike to 3 million. Even that number is lofty, much less 210 million. Even Italy, which inexplicably got hit real bad, is not a the 1% mark yet. So yeah, be careful believing what media tells you and stuff. The flu hits dozens of millions of people a year (https://www.cdc.gov/flu/about/burden/index.html) in the US, and that's with a vaccine AND just counting the people with symptoms. If you think these coronavirus estimates are crazy high, it's because you don't realize how easily those things spread, and how even with proper testing, you still would miss a lot of people that don't have symptoms. I don't know if 70% is accurate, but it's definitely way in the double digits. The flu is in the double digits, and that's contained with a vaccine. This is not fake news, this is not fear mongering.
This is not fake news, this is not fear mongering.
Influenza doesn't cause mass levels of self-isolation.Uh ? We're doing isolation to slow this down. If isolation is done properly, then it might not get as bad as that. but then again, the US is obviously not doing isolation properly.
Dude, you're blame China for the chaos that we are right now, how this is not xenophobic? I mean, bring better argumentsI will repeat again, don't be a xenophobic.

The Chinese government wasn't just negligent, they were criminal as usual, shutting down and vanishing the people ringing the alarm bells. But you want to talk about negligence when you're from Brazil with Bolsonaro as your president ? The guy who's still denying the threat of the virus even though he himself is infected by it ?
It's everyone's fault, everyone on the planet found out about it in mid January at the latest and yet the governments of the world still waited a month and a half to do anything about it. Only after Italy cracked, people started saying "let's wait another 2 weeks to see how that goes".
There's no such thing as stating facts, especially on the Internet. People only say things for a specific reason, and only ever cherry pick the facts that suit what they want to say. That's why people will interpret what you say differently and may decide to call you xenophobic.
And viruses don't have nationalities.
What you're referring to are "opinions"No, I'm referring to people deciding what facts to use and what other facts not to use, so that they can justify their opinion.
What's compelling you to use that as a name instead of the many other names it has ? Coronavirus, Covid-19, SARS-CoV-2. If you wanted to go by where it came from, you could even call it the Wuhan virus. But no, let's not use any of that, let's not use its actual birthplace, let's use a much broader term for no real reason (and pretend that this is more fitting to designate as its birthplace rather than Wuhan), no matter how you try to justify it after the fact.
This is a decision you made, and it's very easy for anyone who hears that to form a conclusion on why you made that decision.
How do you not get that this is a conclusion people wil inevitably make about you, no matter how you try to explain to them that you are only driven by facts and logic (which you're cherry-picking) ?
So you basically accuse me of cherry-picking when I just provided you with MULTIPLE cases that the scientific community decided to coin certain diseases based on its originsBut they didn't do that for this one, they gave it multiple actual names and none of them are based on its point of origin.
What you're referring to are "opinions"No, I'm referring to people deciding what facts to use and what other facts not to use, so that they can justify their opinion.
come on Byakko stop posing as official spokeperson and moderator of covid-19 threadI'm not, what the fuck.
For more context the mexican president has been denying covid to be a problem, he even mentioned that mexico should not take measures until we had the same problems as spain or italy. The places where measures have been taken are states governed by the oposition of the federal government.
I don't like the president we have either, but since when did AMLO become the mexican equivalent of Bolsonaro? I certainly lost faith on the right. Can't trust on them anymore after Drunkard Calderon and that closet moron of Peña ruined the country.
The thing that is scary about the corona virus is how infectuous it is.
Just take a look at your country/state daily graph with the number of cases; if they duplicate everyday, you are screwed, if they duplicate everyother day it's still bad, but shows that something is being done. In my country right now it is duplicating every 3-4 days; thankfully we got there before the number of cases got too high, as the graph was very similar to spain/italy, early this month.
Guys, if you called COVID-19 "Chinese virus", you're at the same level at Trump. Do you wanna be like Trump? Please, if you don't, don't call corona virus "Chinese virus" again.
Thank you, wash your hands, stay inside if you can, and please for the love of Arceus, take this shit seriously.

lets not pretend that china is all that innocent here.Stop being a dumbass, no one on the fucking planet thinks China is innocent. Just because people tell you to stop being racist, doesn't mean they think China is innocent. Get off with that shit.
Somebody said that the Coronavirus is actually a Bio Weapon being planned and conducted by China. But i actually have doubts that this is true.
I live down in Long Island, NY.Hicksville specifically. No cases here so far. Though there has been a ton of food gone, so theyve placed limits in some grocery stores. Some of them are only open from 10 am to 5 pm and only let in 6 people at a time. Thankfully, my fridge is packed. I've been cooped up in my basement trying out the MGS series and the new Hyper DBZ characters (18, Krillin, Tien). There are 237 cases in Hicksville. I'm also on Long Island. Nassau County (where we are) is like the third highest concentration of cases in the state.

No... Its a chinese Vírus because came from China
yeah, that's what is scary aobut it, it transmits so fast that the measure some of us uses is how long it takes it to have double the infected.I live down in Long Island, NY.Hicksville specifically. The fuck?! My parents told me a few days ago there weren't any in the town. That's scary to know. Long as I stay where I am, should be fine though.
In some lighter news, after 3+ weeks without football in tv the league decided to be weird and have a tournament with the players playing from their houses... fifa 2020. so now we have a leaugfe of professional football players playing a videogame on national tv, including professional football comentators.imagine when they get hitmen and gang members to form their own fps/battle royale league.
It's the league "well, its' something"
Anyone who has spoken to me on Discord and/or has followed my Twitter probably already knows this, but seeing as I didn't mention it here yet, I might as well; I tested positive for the coronavirus during the last week of March and was pretty much bedridden for almost 3 weeks.
The last two weeks weren't that bad, but the first week was hell; constantly fluctuating fever, chills, loss of appetite, elevated blood pressure, dizziness & nonstop coughing fits from doing things as simple as standing up, and night sweats that left me dehydrated; due to the latter I had to constantly drink fluids, but because of the loss of appetite I had to drink Gatorade just to replenish whatever nutrients were lost. Once the fever broke and stayed that way for a few days, things started getting better for me for the next 2 weeks, but the cough & shortness of breath mostly remained.
Fortunately I'm back on my feet and things are much better now, but I figured people here would be interested to hear a first-hand account from someone who had it.

How do you think you caught it?
how did you get it?
just asking , did you felt like you were fine in the morning then felt sick again couple hours later? like your fever goes on and off.
glad you passed it, do you have another family member also affected by the illness?
My best guess was that I must have contracted it from taking public transportation into the NYC area. No way to know for sure though.

Condolences, Walt.
My dad turned 67 last week and works in hospital. I keep telling him he should take this as a chance to retire.
Lost my Dad 2 weeks ago today due to COVID related pneumonia. He was 64 years old.
Take care guys, this shit is no joke.

(...) so I fiercely defended the quarantine measures in my small town and online. As a union leader, I strongly opposed any gatherings of marches and proposed safer, online activities instead. You think it's normal that the local govenments would shut stores up, bankrupt their owners, leave their hundreds to thousands of employees unemployed only to sell them to chinese competitors (that were exempt of closing)?
my grandma got covid and diedAre you sure your loved one died because people wouldn't stay at home? Or was it due to hospital negligence? Because the cure exists, and it's hydroxicoroquine. Most of the deaths could have been avoided with that treatment!
I got these answersYou already don't like them. You only see what you want to see.
It's hard to believe that people bite the baitI fell for a bait? Your Country literally created a new constitution because a bunch of hoodlums, led by Yang Wanming, started wrecking havok. You guys had the richest and most comfy country of our region. Why do that!?
Twitter threadsSure, that's all they are. It's not like they have data and videos (sometimes more than one, and that you both outright ignored) that you can use to crosscheck elsewhere.
Its sad to see so many people stsill stuck in the mentality that its all a lie and they are the ones that are enlightened.Dude, I'm not saying the disease does not exist or that I know more than either of you.
For instance: The original lockdown would only last 15 days. I't now passing 10 months. The Countries with the most severe lockdowns are also the ones with the most infections AND deaths. The opposite. The countries with the most severe lockdowns are the ones that are now free of it. New Zealand and such. Those countries did a proper lockdown, and it did go away very fast (South Korea, Japan already had a culture of wearing a mask when you're sick...). Those that did a half-assed lockdown fucked it up and it was useless, that's why you still need more of it.
The Countries that are testing the new vaccines are curiously, the ones with the new strains of the disease. This is not going to be over. Also the opposite of the truth. The countries that have a vaccine are talking about the new strain, but that doesn't mean you don't already have it.
You think it's reasonable to shut both healthy and sick people home to combat a...respiratory disease?Yes, because that's how it works. It's insane that you don't. You guys are a death cult.
You think it's normal that the local govenments would shut stores up, bankrupt their owners, leave their hundreds to thousands of employees unemployed only to sell them to chinese competitors (that were exempt of closing)? No, no one has ever said that was a good thing. What people say you're supposed to do goes well beyond that. What you describe is what an incompetent government in denial does. Everyone else that does it properly already has an entire system that existed long before this virus. We're still alive because we've had this system for a long time. This doesn't even have anything to do with the virus, it's literally basic human decency.
I fell for a bait? Your Country literally created a new constitution because a bunch of hoodlums, led by Yang Wanming, started wrecking havok. You guys had the richest and most comfy country of our region. Why do that!?
I'm a shut-in
The saddest truth: More than 50% of people across the world (just my estimated guess) disregard the seriousness of the virus. Even the perfectly healthy could catch and succumb to the virus in a matter of days. Stay safe everyone and hopefully we will beat this.^This. They are so ingrained in their belief that they are so much smarter because they know the truth. Ignorance is bliss as they always say. So many of these people complain about wearing a mask but don't have a problem wearing clothes. The government says to wear clothes and they listen, but the second they say to wear a mask to protect others, they will go on about how their rights are being infringed upon. Its hypocrisy at its finest.
but idiots like you think that if you don't test for itFunny how one needs to have a test to know if he has a disease. One would think having symptoms would be enough. BTW, the test has shown to have a 97% failure rate. Meaning, people with the disease are testing negative, and people without are testing positive. Even papayas have tested positive.
that's how it works. It's insane that you don't.My point being, that healthy people are being locked with sick people specifically to get sick. While sick people are being denied medicine (hidroxicloroquine, Azithromycin and zinc, as shown by the number of pacients cured by dr Didier Raoult and Dr Zev Zelenko--which was banned from twitter recently) specifically to add to the statistics. Also, sunlight is the main factor for a strong immune system, and one is not going to get it if he is locked home.
You guys are a death cultI want to live, it's why I won't take the vaccine. If you knew all vaccines have mercury, lead, formaldehyde, aluminium, mrc-5 and monkey kidney, you wouldn't want to take them either.
What you describe is what an incompetent government in denial does. No, they are being competent...in fighting us. It's what sold out governors do.
guy literally used someone elses dead grandmother to push that bunk hydroxychloroquine shit lolIn the same way he used her to enforce the lockdown narrative?
my countryHm. I'm sorry I let you down.
Yeah, it's pretty clear.*Smooch*
disregard the seriousness of the virus. Even the perfectly healthy could catch and succumb to the virus in a matter of days.I'm not disputing that.
The government says to wear clothes and they listen, but the second they say to wear a mask to protect others, they will go on about how their rights are being infringed upon.Interesting comparison...to say the least. But ok.
Funny how one needs to have a test to know if he has a disease. One would think having symptoms would be enough. BTW, the test has shown to have a 97% failure rate. Meaning, people with the disease are testing negative, and people without are testing positive. Even papayas have tested positive.Funny how your first two sentences imply that if you have no symptom then you're fine, but two sentences after that, you imply you can still have the disease while testing negative but symptoms aren't an issue.
My point being, that healthy people are being locked with sick people specifically to get sick.No. No one is locking anyone with anyone. Are you pretending that you never heard anyone tell you to social distance ? What do you even think that means if not "stay the fuck away from each other" ?
Also, sunlight is the main factor for a strong immune system, and one is not going to get it if he is locked home.lol did you get a medical degree in a dumpster ?
I want to live, it's why I won't take the vaccine. If you knew all vaccines have mercury, lead, , aluminium, mrc-5 and monkey kidney, you wouldn't want to take them either.Do you not understand that vaccines have been around for hundreds of years ? And yet no one has ever died from any of that.
But when a great number of confessed marxists group up to protest about something? The media says, "there was no rist of infection there".This has never happened. You have never seen anyone on a non-far right media with a proper scientific background say that about a protest in a country that listens to science.
The only thing the masks are holding are, your saliva, co2, the bacterias from the mouth, the heat where they grow. Now picture breathing that for three, four hours. You are going to pass out.No, you don't. People have run entire marathons with multiple masks on top of each other to show you that if you claim that, you're a pussy and a liar who has never put on a mask. Surgeons put masks for highly stressful surgery that last more than 24 hours and they're fine. People with asthma can wear a mask and be fine.
there are countries who've done it right and still can't contain the spread.https://www.endcoronavirus.org/countries
Lost my Dad 2 weeks ago today due to COVID related pneumonia. He was 64 years old.
Take care guys, this shit is no joke.
don't get too paranoid man. your mental state could worsen the disease if you happen to catch it.
take your vitamin d and c, wear a mask, and stay away from people. if you do catch the virus, then it happened in spite of your precautions and its not your fault.
two people i live with caught the virus, guess what? i didn't catch it from them because i took the safety precautions.
living in fear is worse than catching a disease my man.

How long did you have symptoms?
Are there any lingering side effects?
my mom & her husband, my aunt and her spouse, my step mother are all vaccinated last week in our province capital city. I feel a lot relaxed all the older people in my family are all safe. :yippi:Glad to know that.

However, the problem is corona is an RNA virus that can change its genomic structure too fast. RNA viruses are unstable. Even after being fully vaccinated, you can still catch the virus (which got new strain). Please, be careful. Be safe.
I'm 37, fully vaccinated 2 weeks ago. I'm having some problems now(went to emergencies), and still making tests, so it may or may not related to AZ.
Got fully vaccinated yesterday. Had gotten the first dose around a month ago... And about a week after that, I got the virus. Yes, even after having a mild case before, and with less than a week with the first dose.
It hit me hard. Really hard.
10 days of a non-stop fever that wouldn't go away, diarrhea, and a cough that still doesn't entirely go away. Fucking scary, I tell ya. I still feel weak from time to time, and this has been the closest I got to a hospital in a long time.
This shit ain't a normal flu.
The good side of this? It's given me some perspective on things... I'm kinda zen right now; man I used to worry about some stupid things.
It's official, i got COVID and had no smell and taste for 6 days. My folks got some too and now my dad is in the hospital. Now just spending home doing stuff. Whatever you do, be careful and wear a mask while outside.
That's a bad move, when you check the science. We should be wearing masks for a whole other year, at least, when being inside rooms in public spaces.
