Looking at the animation it seems that the background leg is animated smoother while the foreground leg looks to be missing a frame. but that can just be due to the angle you decided on the leg when he is stepping forward. Take a look at it. Kinda looks like he is limping a bit. I dont want to make things difficult for you, but just wanted to point that out.Now for the positive note, Look really good. One of your best animations.

I have a suggestion: Perhaps he should re-compose himself upright first (with his arms up a bit, too?), then settle down into his stance.Looks REALLY cool though. The last frames look particularly weird on his shoes.The reverse looks great too but obviously the pants would need some work "fading out"

Awesome awesome work! This looks amazing. That back dash/forward dash could work as a get up escape too. You could make the distance controllable also. The longer you hold back the longer he stays goo.

AI is the least of our concerns at this point in development.It will eventually get one (all Z2 chars are slowly getting AI), but sprites and game design are what come first.
