I've talked to a bunch of people, and have learned that for the project i'm working on, i need the Japanese version of 2d Fighter Maker 2nd. Could no one please respond with 'Search it' or 'Google' or something because i tried and it is NOWHERE. I've honestly run out of options and would HUGELY appreciate the help here

@Yoshin222

Compare KO-KI's Ryu with your sprite; take some notes on how he shaded the dougi and try to imitate it. Try not to make straight lines. (line art and shading)

-----------------------------------------

Here's another one:

AOF, AOF2 & Bad Santa.

Merry X-mas, guys.

Those are damn awesome! Also gave it another whack. Hows this?

@Yoshin222

You're getting there, but there are still some serious issues with the shading. Look on KO-KI's deviantart page for his KOF XII styled Ryu and compare it with your sprite; Try mimicking the way he shaded it.
And, of course, try to follow the wonderful tutorial Graphicus made.

------------------------

Here's another one, with some variations:

AOF, AOF2, NGBC & V for Vicious.

Those are awesome! And believe me, i have studied it bloody. I noticed that the way i did my shading (Specifically the upper legs) Are very similar to that Ryu.  The only thing that may be considered HUGELY wrong could be the belt. However it is curved, so the darker areas are either shadowed by the Gi, or are bending in a way that the light won't reach. I have stared at it for ages and can't see anything MAJORLY wrong. Could you care to enlighten me?

EDIT: Also improved it slightly

That is way better than my first attempt at least XD One question though, whats with his/her? Right shoulder? It looks like its crumbling in on itself. Don't get me wrong, it does look really cool though

Here. I whipped this up to see if it would help you and others attempting this style. Hope it does.

Hm. I did that because i thought it seemed logical. The light gets on to the leg, and it progressively gets darker as the leg curves. I screwed up on the shading a bit though, a darker shade is more outward, need to fix that. Helpful tip about the shadows btw thanks. Though i'm probably wrong, i always appreciate the advice dude.
(Ps, does anyone have a software for editing pallets of an image? Its getting tiresome doing it one pixel at a time XD)

EDIT: I fixed some things, smoothed out some lines again, improved the pallet, and fixed his head (Seriously i just now noticed it looked really weird XD) Some shading has also been improved/tweaked, specifically his gloves and lower part of his Gi, so it now is shaded slightly more like a KoF XIII character (Again, i could be wrong XD) But anyway, thank you for the advice regardless. It has improved HUGELY with your help i cannot thank you enough

LAST EDIT: For this reply at least. Going to bed after this. Again, lines tweaked, but the main thing is his belt has been improved hugely, bumping the colors from 2 to 7 while improving the ones used previously. It now possesses a total of 35 colors versus the 20 something of my first try (Pallet to the right as usual)

Funny u.

There you go!! it's a good start but check again that tutorial. See the first step of muscle shading. Take a a peek of CVS Ryu and SF3(mostly the gi)

Its a matter of try and try again. Keep it up  :smile:

Thanks dude! Truthfully i know i need to shade the gi more (the legs mainly) But after pushing pixels for 8+ hours (I am not, nor have ever claimed t be an artist/animator so that's great XD) i got lazy by the end XD. I'll work on that tomorrow, thanks for the pointers. Anything else i need to improve? Personally i think the arms are fine (Well maybe the upper right part is a bit dark?) I honestly don''t know.. But hey, i'm probably wrong. One thing i know to do is darken the Gi outline. I can barely see it on the legs. But again, later its like past 2 in the morning

Ok, i tried again, smoothed out the lines, added way more colors to the pallet (at the side for reference) and tried my best to keep the shading as if the light was coming directly above him. Hows this?

There's still a lot of pillow-shaded areas in certain parts of the body and the lightsource's a bit all over the place. The lineart's a bit better, although you still have a lot of straight vertical/horizontal/diagonal lines.

Also, keep in mind that KOFXII sprites have a whopping 7 colors per area. Right now you're only using 5.

Thanks dude, i appreciate the feedback. Its weird, i normally feel discouraged from stuff like that, but that just made me REALLY want to get it right. I'm updating the pallet to 7 colors as you said, trying my best to fix the light source, and some improvement on line work here and there

Thanks for your comments Sin- & Zaitsu Hatter.

@Sin-
Leona' skirt lacks detail due to the possition/tightness of the cloth; I gave it a slight wrinkle on her pubic area just to make the skirt look less empty, but any more wrinkles would only make her clothes look unkept.

---------------------------------------

Here's another one, with some variations:

AOF, AOF2, KOF & PIMP.

Those are some of the most pimp ass sprites i have ever seen awesome work dude!

Ok, i tried again. This any better? I changed the shading almost completely, smoothened out some lines, and have been shoving my face in KoF XIII sprite related topics for the past couple of hours so there's that XD

I LOVE the KOF XIII Style of sprites. I think i'll give it a shot. Here it is (It's my first attempt, so sorry if it sucks XD) I essentially made a sprite of my character, made it 2X big, outlined and shaded.

I've finally started development on my fighting game titled 'Ken No Shototsu' or 'Clash of Fists' in Japanese ( I'm not a weeaboo i swear XD) and i've created the idle animation of my first character. I'm no animator, but i did the best i could. For a first attempt, i wager it isn't TOO terrible.

Good or bad feedback, let me have it. I'd love to know what i need to improve or change. The image is crap, but i hope you get the general idea of what i was doing.  Thank you for reading

Fighter Maker/Creator
IKEMEN
MUGEN (and Clones)
Unreal (A dude is working on a template but until then)
EF-12
UFE (Universal Fighting Engine)

Its totally fine, i completely understand that. Just an incentive to make whatever i do better. I've talked with people, and i have sprites for a character sorted, have a stage in the works and am learning how everything works. Whatever i make, i'll do my absolute best with it
