Some update for the JOJO lifebars
changed the guard bar to a turquoise green color like in asb also I add the idea of doing something like in asb where the lifebars bar change color when you lost health

Sounds like it'd be something I'm interested in. What exactly where you looking for it to be? 1.0 LBs or 1.1?
Title: Re: Lifebars Work (Searching A CODER)
Post by: GTOAkira on July 28, 2014, 08:22:45 pm
1.0 since 1.1 dont work on my computer
Title: Re: Lifebars Work (Searching A CODER)
Post by: Ehat on July 28, 2014, 09:31:29 pm
Okay, umm, I'm already seeing a bit of a problem that should be an easy fix for you. The way that you created the JoJo bars doesn't allow for Simul mode so you'd either have to add another bar somewhere along the frame work of the base for that to be there. Also, you'd have to remove the contents of the life counter, from the lifebar framework in order for it to be coded in properly.
Title: Re: Lifebars Work (Searching A CODER)
Post by: GTOAkira on July 28, 2014, 09:40:16 pm
yeah i know about that the jojo lifebars where actually made for a fullgame but il try to do something do you think you could work with the castlevania lifebars?
Title: Re: Lifebars Work (Searching A CODER)
Post by: Ehat on July 29, 2014, 04:50:53 am
Ehh, the look of those bars doesn't interest me all that much sorry.
Title: Re: Lifebars Work (Searching A CODER)
Post by: GTOAkira on July 29, 2014, 03:27:01 pm
thats cool alright going to try to work on something for the simul and turn stuff
Title: Re: Lifebars Work (Searching A CODER)
Post by: Markpachi on July 29, 2014, 04:02:51 pm
The JoJo lifebar looks good. Why not just swap the default lifebar sprites with the ones you've made? I'm pretty sure you can do that yourself.

Title: Re: Lifebars Work (Searching A CODER)
Post by: GTOAkira on July 29, 2014, 04:12:30 pm
I could try do I need any program to do this except fighter factory?
Title: Re: Lifebars Work (Searching A CODER)
Post by: Markpachi on July 29, 2014, 04:50:41 pm
Photoshop/GIMP so that you can convert your images into pcx format.
Title: Re: Lifebars Work (Searching A CODER)
Post by: GTOAkira on July 29, 2014, 05:05:43 pm

Title: Re: Lifebars Work (Searching A CODER)

Bump well trying to work on this from time to time since school and a little lost of motivation but anyways, I would like to have some feedback on the retired screen like in ASB
(http://i.imgur.com/krCY3oM.gif)
Here a fake screenshot showing it

Updated the first post with the CV link and more info about the jojo lifebars
Title: Re: Hunter Workshop : Current wip = JJBA Lifebars
Post by: ArtistofLegacy on January 22, 2015, 02:52:20 am
The R looks shorter and the ! being taller than the other letters kind of bugs me.
Aside from that, it looks nice.
Title: Re: Hunter Workshop : Current wip = JJBA Lifebars
Post by: GTOAkira on January 22, 2015, 02:55:28 am
thx about the font size they actually add this size when I took them but ill try to fix it

small question, would you guys prefer the power bar to be pink like in asb or should I keep it purple
(http://i.imgur.com/pEWyUQj.png)
Title: Re: Hunter Workshop : Current wip = JJBA Lifebars
Post by: MotorRoach on January 26, 2015, 04:29:30 pm
I dunno, keep it purple. Also, this is just a suggestion, but you could make the default icon border seem less linear, and try making something similar to Capcom's JoJo lifebars:

Title: Re: Hunter Workshop : Current wip = JJBA Lifebars
Post by: Rock Badguy on January 26, 2015, 10:52:22 pm
few questions

1. will this be 640X480 kind of lifebar
2. will this have ASB annoucer
Title: Re: Hunter Workshop : Current wip = JJBA Lifebars
Post by: GTOAkira on January 26, 2015, 11:30:05 pm
1-Yup for 640x480 I think Drkelexo will also make a 720 version like he did with is other lifebars
2-Thats what is planned
Title: Re: Hunter Workshop : Current wip = JJBA Lifebars
Post by: sanjiDAprince on January 27, 2015, 04:04:10 pm
The custom port version, can we use the artwork instead of sprite? Because from what I see the custom port version you showcase so far using sprite for the port.
Title: Re: Hunter Workshop : Current wip = JJBA Lifebars
Post by: GTOAkira on January 29, 2015, 02:40:48 am
Im not to sure if it would look good im kind of trying to replicate how it look in asb and I think that artwork would need alot of work. Anyways here a quick look at the custom version
(http://i.imgur.com/fF49P6Z.png)
Decided to remove the green bar

it may still need so I would like to have your opinion on this I use the screenshot as a base
Title: Re: Hunter Workshop : Current wip: Rival School
Post by: GTOAkira on February 18, 2015, 06:55:48 pm
DrKelexo is still working on the jojo lifebars and but i think all the spriting part is done so for now il be working on another side project
(http://i.imgur.com/6vCnLlR.png)
It is a Rival School lifebars base on the project justice game it still need some font but i think thats pretty much how the final product look
Feedback are welcome

Title: Re: Hunter Workshop : Current wip = Rival School
Post by: Bannana on February 19, 2015, 07:38:55 pm
The original font is slanted a bit, so it looks a bit weird to see it straight up.

Are you going to have custom ports that look like the original? I honestly think the square boxes are fine though.
Title: Re: Hunter Workshop : Current wip = Rival School
Post by: GTOAkira on February 19, 2015, 10:47:30 pm
thx yeah im probably going to change the font also i dunno about the custom portrait but if people want to than i can probably try something
Title: Re: Hunter Workshop : Current wip = Rival School
Post by: Slayer. on February 20, 2015, 02:41:39 pm
Don't. Like Bannana said, keep the square box. Sometimes is better have a lifebar with default ports, make custom ports can be exhausting, and the overall looks is really cool.
Title: Re: Hunter Workshop : Current wip = Rival School
Post by: GTOAkira on February 20, 2015, 07:03:06 pm
Well ill keep them like this
thx again for the interest

Post by: 【MFG】gui0007 on February 20, 2015, 09:04:39 pm
The name fonts looks good in that way CH.

And if you want to made the lifebar close to the original, you should change the hits font
(http://www.gameblog.fr/images/jeux/5912/ProjectJusticeRivalSchools2_Dreamcast_Edit_002.jpg)
Title: Re: Hunter Workshop : Current wip = Rival School
Post by: Bannana on February 20, 2015, 09:15:48 pm
Wow, adding a few pixels made the font look a lot better.

One thing that I think would be an additional effect that could pull it together is if you could get a flame behind the timer. I need to load up PJ to remember what it's like exactly, but I do recall there being some animation there.

Title: Re: Hunter Workshop : Dead Rising BOR (MAYBE)
Post by: GTOAkira on February 27, 2015, 09:35:03 pm
Hey everyone dunno if you guys saw my topic in the Idea Engineering thread but ive been thinking about a Dead Rising BOR game for the moment it is only idea and concept and it will probably never happen but i think i can still shared my idea with the forum

Spoiler, click to toggle visibilty

Alot of stuff in spoiler are subject to change here pretty the new look of the game
(http://i.imgur.com/SA7wPcy.png)
I also wanted to make some new psychopath boss here two concept for them

Roland : The Military Janitor
Basically Rolento with is Plumber outfit
Story: Basically Roland was a soldier during the vietnam war having fight bravelly for is country he was hoping to be rewarder but when he came back he add pretty much gain nothing. Now he work as a janitor at the willamete mall. When the zombie outbreak start thinking it is a enemy attack Roland take the oppurtinity to prove himself to his country.
Using his janitor arsenal plus some artisanal grenade he will be a pretty strong boss

Pikaman: The Pokemon Cosplayer
Basically Pikaman with a little twist
Story: Randy Oak is a mascot worker at the game shop in the willamete mall. A big Pokemon fan he love to dress himself as pikachu. Some time, he even think he is a pokemon. When the outbreak start he was attacked by zombie by chance he was able to kill them thx to a teaser he wasable to found.Thinking he was the one who shock them, he was sure he add became a pokemon and that killing was going to make him level up
He will fight using teaser and his tail

Like always feedback would be welcome since I really hope to make this a reality
thx
Title: Re: Hunter Workshop : Current wip = Rival School
Post by: hatter on February 27, 2015, 09:38:52 pm
Yo, that Pikaman idea is sweet, I like how the backstory and concept meld together so smoothly. But you should probably change it to some knockoff of Pokemon to give it more authenticity. In other words, just make up a monster similar to Pikachu, make a fictional PokeMon like series for the DR world, and boom, your as good as gold.

Also, why do you think it wouldn't work? Personally, I like the idea of Frank West duking it out with zombies in a BoR styled world. :)
Title: Re: Hunter Workshop : Current wip = Rival School
Post by: GTOAkira on February 27, 2015, 10:13:39 pm
thx well I think i could try something. I actually wanted pikaman since I add an idea for his dead something like after the fight he will pick up a batteries or something thinking it is a thunderstone and then using is lightning on it to evolve but it will only shock himself and kill him
thx again for the interest
Title: Re: Hunter Workshop : Current wip = Dead Rising BOR (MAYBE)
Post by: GTOAkira on February 27, 2015, 11:01:03 pm
Also Here another idea
Dosom Hiryu : The Sushi Samurai
Having opened a sushi in willamete Dosom was famous for is Sushi wich contain a secret ingredient. When the outbreak start he thought it was a ruse to steal his recipe.
fighting with his katana
After defeating him he will proceed to commit seppuku but his katana being a fake it will not work. After talking to him he will proceed to join you. You then have acces to his shop to buy food

Thought?
Title: Re: Hunter Workshop : Current wip = Dead Rising BOR
Post by: GTOAkira on February 28, 2015, 07:53:18 pm
I would really like to learn more about BOR so any help is welcome
Here another Psycho idea
Greg Welger
The director of the pharmacetic shop in willamete. When the outbreak start he think that the zombie are only people on drugs. Thinking that his store is in danger he take is crossbow and swear to himself that no one will use his medecine for drug
He will fight using is weelchair and is crossbow and, as a reference to belger he will use ostage to protect himself
(http://i.imgur.com/sg1nQEd.png)
Here also a new mock up showing the item you are using

Looking pretty good, although the inner part of the counter (around the black circle) could use some smoothening.
Title: Re: Hunter Workshop
Post by: GTOAkira on March 12, 2015, 08:55:04 pm
thx but what do you mean with smoothening?
Title: Re: Hunter Workshop

Anti-aliasing you know, more fluid colors to make it less pixeled

Post by: GTOAkira on March 13, 2015, 10:09:15 pm
Just a question but would it be possible to do something like add004basic with those lifebars
I mean like the tag and other stuff
Title: Re: Hunter Workshop
Post by: GTOAkira on March 18, 2015, 02:11:31 am
Alright here all my wips/Concept that I may finish if someone is interesed in coding them

Rival School Lifebars
(http://i.imgur.com/eHWvT1l.png)
Progress: Still need the win font and the power bar font

Guilty Gear Lifebars
(http://i.imgur.com/HWkDJUq.png)
Progress: Those one still need alot of work I havent have any feedback on it yet so it be appreciated base on GG Xrd

Punch Out Lifebars
(http://i.imgur.com/bNk3gr6.png)
Progress: While some stuff are missing there are easy to found since im getting them from the snes game

Well I guess this is pretty much all the other like the jojo one and the Mvc one are already being code by someone
Feedback would be appreciated
Title: Re: Hunter Workshop
Post by: Bannana on March 18, 2015, 05:35:26 am
Oh man the rival schools lifebars look so good, I can't give any more real feedback. They look pretty much complete.

Now I'm gonna have trouble deciding between the Jojo and rs ones though.
Title: Re: Hunter Workshop
Post by: GTOAkira on March 18, 2015, 02:15:31 pm
thx they are pretty much done just need the win font and the combo font
Also any idea for simul/turn mode, i completly forgot those
Title: Re: Hunter Workshop
Post by: Bannana on March 22, 2015, 12:54:09 am
Thinking about it, I guess you could just do a smaller box for the simul and have three of them somewhere for turns. I'm can't really think of a place they could go without ruining the flow the bars though.
Title: Re: Hunter Workshop
Post by: GTOAkira on March 22, 2015, 12:54:36 am
yeah i think im just going to something simple
Title: Re: Hunter Workshop
Post by: GTOAkira on March 23, 2015, 07:26:27 pm
Alright so how does that look
(http://i.imgur.com/ssvZw36.png)
Title: Re: Hunter Workshop
Post by: AlexSin on March 23, 2015, 07:33:36 pm
They look nice, but they are a tad too big (half of the screen is just lifebars). Especially the p3 and p4 ones.
Title: Re: Hunter Workshop
Post by: GTOAkira on March 23, 2015, 07:37:44 pm
yeah I think il make the simul bar smaller
Title: Re: Hunter Workshop
Post by: GTOAkira on March 23, 2015, 09:54:32 pm
Alright I remove the simul name for p2

Post by: GTOAkira on March 25, 2015, 10:19:10 pm
Also here the KO sprite
(http://i.imgur.com/DB82PsT.png)
I was thinking of using the KO one for the the first round and the TKO one for the last round
Title: Re: Hunter Workshop
Post by: MotorRoach on March 26, 2015, 12:16:59 am
Not sure if you can really change the KO graphics between rounds, though.
Title: Re: Hunter Workshop
Post by: Foobs on March 26, 2015, 12:26:19 am
Can't do that, mugen's limited to one ko animation. You could use it for the double ko, but that'd kinda...awkward.

Can't believe I overlooked this thread, you have some really impressive stuff, specially the mvc-like lifebars. I'd take a shot at coding those if they weren't already taken.
Title: Re: Hunter Workshop
Post by: GTOAkira on March 26, 2015, 12:31:40 am
thx alot
did not know that it was impossible well ill try to think of something in the meantime im probably going to stick with the normal KO
Also I would not mind seeing someone else coding the mvc lifebars
thx again for the comment
Title: Re: Hunter Workshop
Post by: Foobs on March 26, 2015, 12:39:05 am
You can ditch the K and use the rest for a Time Over animation, mugen at least supports that. You can also change the T for a D for the Double KO animation.
Title: Re: Hunter Workshop
Post by: GTOAkira on March 26, 2015, 12:58:05 am
Something like that
(http://i.imgur.com/YgZvVaK.png)
also il use the tko for the time over

AW's blocky lifebars work fine in the game's ultra cartoonishy and toylike atmosphere, but I don't think they'd look the part in the average mugen screen. AW2's on the other are sleeker and the color choice seems fitting fo a fighting game. Why don't you give those a try?

I think coding would the issue for this, because critical is when both your offense and defense are max, which iirc (damn it's been a few months since I last played) gives you access to the critical super.

One thing I feel is strange is that the bar filler looks short. Perhaps lengthening it a bit will make it look less like it was compressed.

I tried making it smaller since drkelexo was having some problem with the 640x480 resolution
it was that or no 640x480 version
will try to do the same for the custom port version I may scrap that one

4- Osu Karate Bu Lifebars : Pretty much done only need to make the hit font
5- Clay Fighter Lifebars : Missing some stuff but pretty much done
6- Cho Aniki Screepack : Pretty much done dont really know what I could add
While this may sound like alot of work most of them are actually done or in process of being done

those toshinden 3 bars are lookin better

as for the announcer clips, of course MAME can't run dragoon might on either computer all of a sudden without lagging so i can't really get the announcer clips; the cheats to do so are here (http://mugenguild.com/forum/topics/a-couple-mame-cheat-files-sprite-ripping-518-158210.0.html) in case you or anyone else is willing to try

for toshinden 3, though, that should be easy for me, i'll see what i can do. i actually ripped the samples directly from the iso but they don't seem to have the echoey effect applied on them there so i might just turn the music off in-game and see what i can get

For this one you could rise its horizontal axis a little and decrease portrait space increasing life gauge size, other than that is pretty cool.

Looking forward to the JJBA revamp one. Really liked your first version, the only problem is that they were really REALLY small. Those looks much better with the proper spacing :)

Final Fight Regen ones look good but they are kind of low on the screen, could go up a few pixels imo.

Nice.

Numbers shading-wise are done, but I'm not sure about the colors. If you have a better idea for going about the colors, feel free to do so.

I'll do the MAXIMUM font tomorrow, and have them on a single file.

So I ended up making two different variations for the MAXIMUM font, one inspired by the shading of M.Bison's shoulder pads in CvS2, and the other based on how I shaded it in Buckus' bars, feel free to choose whichever one you like more.

Spoiler: if you want to see how they roll in GIF format (click to see content)

Yes. It's looking really good.
I shouldn't (because I'm really busy) but I wanted so I tried coded them overlapping the old SF lifebar and dang, it's beautiful. I must say you should start to use some anti-aliasing on your work, I used on it and it got even better.

Thing missing :
-Hit fonts. à
-Ready, Round 1,2, Final round, Fight font (Really like the want from 3rd strike and I think they would look great.

I also really want to finish the Jojo updated lifebars so hopefully I get back to it soon!

Now just need to finish a few small thing
-Number for the name font (Forgot them but Im working on it)
-Get the missing hit font number (0-1-7-8) from KOF98
-Draw, Time Over, round 2 and final round font
I also might change the you win for just winner

Announcer wise I really like the virtua fighter 5 one. But suggestions and ideas are welcomed

Due to the aesthetic that follows the lifebar, the font seems to go a little out of the standard. I don't know, maybe a less increased font would look good, with a straighter parameter, as well as the other elements in the entire composition.

Perhaps something like the sources of KOF 98 itself, or something close to that.

I like the font. The only thing that is bothering me (and this is just me, you're free to ignore and keep it as it is now) is the size, it's too big and I personally am not a fan of big fonts in general. But the style and colors are very cool.

I know it's trying to find a suitable way to add them without ruining the design, but not having some indicator of how much Power you have in a more immediately obvious manner is detrimental in my opinion; doesn't have to be a numerical value (though that's usually the safest/most compatible way to do it), just as long as I can tell how many bars of Power I have.

-Yeah I also need to work on that. The really hard part is to find a power font number that fit
-Looking at it they def seem to big lol. Should not be a problem to make them smaller
Thx for the feedback!

You're trying to go for a metallic/reflective look but it looks like it's overexposed to light, and it's annoying to look at.

Try something like this:

Leave the black outlines in certain places to imply depth. Like, pick one side (left or right), and use the black outlines there.

Are there not any KOF 98 Lifebars with the remaining Numbers as you mentioned?

Thx for the feedback Hatter. I was actually going for a fiery look (I dont know if that means anything) But since Im not the best when it comes to shading it doesnt look that good. I think Im gonna go with something different since looking at it they dont really fit. I think Im gonna go with the sf3 new generation one.

With obviously a different announcer. Man the SF3 one is bad lol
Also I dont think there is any kof 98 lifebars sadly

Thx again for all the feedback. I have a ton of free time so I really want to keep working on those

I wish we could get a bar for each Number aswell, I swear lifebars have done that unless that's more technical.
It's possible, done via font.

Best powerbars so far, except for the red bg and font, the colors don't match each other.

scratch that I think I might go with the 3rd strike one...

I kind of want to combine both. 3rd strike font with new gen colors

Finished sheet with also a default version without add004

I also have one question : Which announcer should I go with? the USF4 one would make the most sense but Im kind of liking the Tekken 7 one to
I also just realized I really need to update the first post lol

New year new look lol
The old version is still safe but I really like this simpler version

Its also a bit easier on the eyes without that huge block in the middle lol

I too remember Rolento's Rose passport, whilst donning his ever famous Ryu disguise. Seemed Sagat didn't get the memo though!

Jokes aside this looks hella clean and I love it. <3

I'm not too crazy about the uneven position on the timer, but otherwise the lifebar looks sick. I've been following the progress of this lifebar for about a year now because I genuinely think its the best lifebar of the entire MUGEN community (low-res bias).

Good job, man.

I just really like using warusaki small port lol
Thx to both for the feedback the timer thing was me trying to copy gg strive but Il probably have them align correctly in the final version.
Ive always been a bigger fan of low res lol
Also dont mind the time font on the sprite sheet Im still editing them
Thx a lot for the compliment !

Damn its been a while lol.
Anyways, during the summer, I got a small dose of mugen motivation and I did something I feel like I always do, I updated the lifebars again. Im currently working fulltime and I dont really have a lot of free time or interest for mugen so I figure I would atleast post the lifebars here.

The new updated look is mostly inspired by SF6, SFxTK and GG Strive.
(Dont mind Potemkin. This frame just gives me a lot of life and motivation haha.

I would like to say that this is the last time I change anything about it but I feel Im probably gonna change something else 2 years from now.
Once again, people are free to do anything with these as long as they give credit.
Suggestions and ideas are always welcome obviously.
Now back to Tactics Ogre I go!

Man oh right I was when I said this wasnt the last edit lol
Made a few adjustments mostly so some of the fonts are more visibles. Posting the sheet here so I dont lose anything.
