Pretty solid lineup here, I'm glad SNK is finally having some representation on the main stage. Yet it feels so odd without Melee there, I felt the same way when Marvel didn't make it in last year.

After what evo japan its not a suprise that DOA isnt there. Its probably going to be at evo japan next year since they both have differents games

i don't know if melee's "time has passed" but it certainly was taking up space that newer games needed.

that's exactly what i mean. i'm down to see more competitive melee but i really need to see some fresh new blood.

plus this is a chance for ultimate to come on to its own finally.

If you ask me, Melee shouldn't have been in Evo in a long time now. Its just an old game from a franchise which had multiple newer games. I don't give a flying fuck about whether people are mad or not, fans of older Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat games don't go around bitching because the old games are not represented and those franchises have much more significant changes in their gameplay than Smash, the latter's community has been spoiled too much, let the game die already, Ultimate is a MUCH better version of it anyway, Melee's time is long past, let the damn thing die.

I know this part of the news is old, but I'm so happy to see SamSho and Soul Calibur among those games, specially the former, who just made its comeback.

I dare say Melee and whatever the current Smash is at the time (4/Ultimate) have almost separate communities at this point.

BBTag and SC6 numbers make me sad.  At least Unist has 1000+ I guess.
Also surprised to see DBFZ drop down lots and Smash Ultimate so high.

This year capcom has been moving SFV top8 early in the day. Thats the main reason why top8 this year have way early during premier event. That and smash having the most entrant this year. I think after SFV top8 ended at 2am est last year they really just wanted to have it early so that the majority could watch it.

A perfect move since Cross Tag Battle opens Finals Sunday. A few other announcements that could be made...

-Capcom bringing back one of their older fighting game franchises like Darkstalkers or Rival Schools
-Nightwolf and/or Sindel being the next DLC character for MK11
-Season 3 for Tekken 7

I expected more reveals, by now. So far, none have impressed me, though I'm quite excited for these news: https://www.polygon.com/2019/8/2/20752167/riot-games-fighting-game-confirmed and thats only because the game seems to be related to League of Legends, and I play it a LOT.

Yumi from Senran Kagura, Neopolitan from RWBY, Blitztank and Akatsuki from Akatsuki Blitzkampf are confirmed in a leak along with 5 characters yet to be revealed. These characters will come along with a 2.0 verson which includes new gamplay mechanics like Extra Assault, Cross Burst and a Cross Combo rework, a story mode update and UI Changes.

I really hope there is an all-in-one version coming soon.

From the missing slots, I bet we are getting 1 new character for BB (Terumi), P4U (Adachi, Rise or Elizabeth), Under Night (Hilda), and Arcana Heart (loads of choices) with 1 new RWBY rep (Torchwick please).

They're adding a franchise known for girls losing their clothes, a tank is fine by me. Hopefully Marilyn will make it, I love her.

No... I'm serious here. It's a dumb choice considering there's plenty of other characters in the game they could of chosen. Maybe another character from that franchise is going to be part of group of 5 that's left, who knows.

You calling it dumb is a subjective value judgement. There’s plenty of fans of ABK who love Blitztank. Imo it’s a unique choice given the crossovers existing roster.
