Title: Introduction, and a potential project
Post by: ssj17vegeta on January 24, 2021, 03:34:56 am
Hello people,

I'm a 36-year old french programmer, with fond memories of MUGEN during its prime, somewhere like 15-17 years ago, during which I gave a go at creating (poorly designed) characters.

My my, how time flies ! It was even before Elecbyte reappeared before disappearing again lol

Anyway, I'm kinda planning to create (another) MUGEN clone to compensate for the complete lack of feature-complete, open-source and cross-platform MUGEN alternatives/clones (Linux on Raspberry Pi was the initial reason I thought about it). Thinking of using Godot for the job, since it's gained quite a momentum in the last years, is more Git/SVN friendly than Unity, is rather popular for 2D games, and comes completely free without any risk of licence issues.

I realize that I can't be the only one having thought about that, and you've probably seen dozens of ppl trying to do the same thing (just as any programmer forum will obviously be plagued with beginners who think they'll be able to create a MMORPG).

Anyway, nice to meet you guys/girls :)
