We remember wasting many a 50 pence piece on The Simpsons Arcade Game in a pre-smoking ban pub back in the day, so the possibility of it coming back on the Xbox Live Arcade is something we'd relish enormously. According to a rating on the Australian Classification Board, The Simpsons Arcade Game might well be coming to XBLA.
And like X-Men Arcade for XBLA before it, developer Backbone Entertainment will be handling the game, if the listing is anything to go by, meaning that the possibility of another perfect collaboration between Backbone and Konami could be on the cards.
If Backbone can repeat the bang up job it did on X-Men Arcade, and this turns out to be kosher, then we could be looking at a port of one of our most fondly remembered arcade games. We'll have more info on The Simpsons Arcade Game when we get it. (http://www.xbox360achievements.org/news/news-10080-The-Simpsons-Arcade-Game-Classified-for-XBLA.html)
All I can say is about damn time, X-Men most of done really well for them to consider this.
-
I always wonder why that game never got ported. It's a fairly popular beat em up.
-
Its because marge was a bunny.
-
dang. i love the simpsons arcade game
glad its finaly getting the treatment it deserves
-
Holy shit, this is great ne-
/me sees it's on XBL only.
And you were bitching about 360 users getting shafted Mala?
-
This is fantastic news. I wasted quite a few quarters on this game back in the day.
Wait, XBLA only?! ALL OF MY RAGE!
-
I know ..most of you dont like that attitude but...
*looks at his mame cabinet standing in the living room*
*smiles*
xlba only anyway, eh? They could have made some bucks with it on steam too.
-
I'm sure it'll be on both consoles marketplaces.
-
Next, I need arcade Sunset Riders and a real port of Turtles in Time.
-
YES!
TMNT (1989)
TMNT: Turtles in time / Reshelled
Scott Pilgrim
The Simpsons
Now I only need Sunset Riders, and I'll be complete.
-
Arcade perfect port with online capabilities???
YESH!
Just hope it does gets a PS3 release, and agree with you, Sunset Riders is a must at this point.
Edit:
Wait a second, was reshelled 360 only? I'm searching for it at ps store and no, no.

reshelled was even sold in a pack with scott pilgrim at one point.
-
reshelled is not avaiable anymore, due to licenses running out crap.
-
^ Good riddance. The original is vastly superior to Reshelled for numerous reasons anyway.
The Simpsons is one of the few classic arcade games left I'd love to see on a current console. Too bad I have a fucking PS3.
-
Ugh, this is good news but yeah, I have a PS3.
-
i read today it might appear for both consoles ^^
but can someone of you explain me why i should buy that old arcade game when i can play it via mame anyway and made myself a whole cabinet for those arcade games?
i mean what is the point playing that game on a ps3 or xb360
beside maybe online co-op mode....
but really..such games make much more fun if you have 1-3 friends in the same room playing together
-
Because it took this damn long for them to port it to consoles and we want to show our appreciation for their efforts of finally bringing it to us.
-
I agree, that would be a good point to actually buy the game
It is not that easy though, its not like the people or even the same company is porting the game now finally.
If i read it right, it is more like a small company bought the license from konami and also the simpsons copyright holders for a certain time and well, tries to make some bucks with relative small effort, compared to make a new beat em up in a similar or better quality based on the simpsons license
The only buying reason in my opinion is maybe that it can show that many gamers still like this kind of games

I may be a purist here, or I'm defending the undefendable, but I've had emu-gaming sessions with friends, and it's not the same ... not having enough PC joysticks, or only 1 USB->PS2. It just feels bootleggy, cables everywhere.
Each of playing with our shiny Xbawks wireless controllers just feels more like a party.

MY TOES, MY TOES!!!

yeah, to play arcade games "right" you need arcade sticks..and the best way is to build a custom arcade cabinet and the arcadesticks into it
about ps2 controlers, there are ps2 usb adapters for 2 pads with one usb slot
-
As exciting as this may be, I've had this on my MAME for like, 5 years.
-
And it is finally released! Love playing these games with arcade sticks and a few friends. Seems to be alot more here too then the X-Men AG.
-
YES!
-
Yeah, this will be on the ps3 soon enough. If they did this with xmen it'll happen. And don't be suprised if Sunset Riders, Crime Fighters or even Vendetta make it to consoles sometime soon as well. I know that many are like "i could play this in mame for free" but seriously, the cost of having a stable server to play in where people can jump in and out without the apeshit things kalleria does is well worth the price if I was a true fan of these games.
-
I love those for party times.
-
what's so special about the secret/rare japanese version of this game?
-
I know for sure scoring bonuses were diffrent.
-
what's so special about the secret/rare japanese version of this game?
Tell that to a japanophile because I'm not sure. Its ultimately the same shit minus a tweak here or there.
-
Japan = easier, more points per kill, health bonuses, more throw-able items and thats all I noticed so far.
Loving the game, but only one problem is severe slowdown for no reason during online play.
-
Game is free for Psn Plus, just got the email announcing it.
-
FUUUUUUUUU

The only two good Simpsons games is Hit and Run and the arcade game. The rest of them suck!
