I also uploaded updated versions of Hotaru, Rugal, Shingo and Xiangfei.

This is a first public release of my latest 3 works. These three are my most technical and innovative works in the last 3 years.

RELEASE NOTES:



Notes for Jenet:
- The first character to use 100% accurate collision and alignment data from KOFXI.
- Adapted to KOF2002UM style.



Notes for Chizuru:
- Based on KOF98UM.
- HIGHLY technical character, the only accurate Chizuru in MUGEN.
- Uses a new technique for cloning moves that simulates the behavior from the game.
- This is the only Chizuru that accurately shares frame data with its clone.
- Her sprite file was made with a completely new and non-standard technique.
- Allows for compatibility with other characters for the sealing super. Users of a .vns-type buffering system can update to be compatible with an extremely easy copy-paste.



Notes for Athena:
- Alignment and collision data is 100% accurate to KOFXI.
- Gameplay has been adapted to KOF2002UM style.
- Her reflector is the basis for the projectile reflection system.
- Makes use of the new technique for building sprite files.

All of these updated (and released characters) are compatible with a new and revolutionary projectile reflection system. This system, divided into a reflector and a projectile portion, is capable of emulating proper projectile reflection in MUGEN!

These characters are all compatible and provide examples of many of the most basic implementations of reflection. Within the code any and all parts of the reflector code are documented and logically labeled.

This system is now supported by coders such as KoopaKoot, Jesuszilla and Kamekaze, who are in the process of updating projectile code to be compatible.

I´m not very familiar with Chizuru, so I would love to have another readme that tells me p.e. that the "108-Katsu: Tamayura no Shitsune" reflects projectiles.

Everyone uses at least 1.0 by now.
If your computer can't run it, you should do some mantainance because if you can run Winmugen you should definitely be able to run 1.0
If a character doesn't work in 1.0, just dump it. It probably wasn't that good to begin with.

Some of the KoF chars that I use works better with winmugen, and since I don't know how to edit them properly, I just stick with winmugen to play with them.

I apologize deeply for the missing content, I had very little time to prepare as my main concern was making the projectile reflection code available to everyone. I did not notice the missing portrait.

If anyone would like to help me in these two aspects, it would be greatly appreciated.

Do you plan to update F-Iori? He is described as KoF2002UM style but he doesn't have max mode and most of his combos doesn't work.

He does have max mode and is fully complete. I have not modified the file in any shape or form since I released the character.

I just redownloaded the package, ran the character, and he works just as intended. He still has the max cancel combo-map as well.

If anyone else could confirm that this Iori works as intended, I'd appreciate it. The only possible cause is the use of an outdated mugen version.

For now, I have moved the characters that are currently not in my update batch to the "old characters" folder. I plan to revisit them, but I don't feel like now is the time.

Indeed, Athena is missing a big portrait as I explained before, however her specials are working just fine (I just downloaded the package and tested).

I can only think of one scenario where they may fail for you: you are probably holding a button down, either A B C D or any of the two shortcuts.

In (NeoGeo) KOF there is a very special input perk that works like this:

1. If you attempt to do a special move that requires "1" button press, then the move will not work if at the time of your input it detects 2 buttons held down.
2. Similarly, if you attempt to do a super move that requires "2" button presses, then the move will not work if at the time of your input it detects 3 buttons held down.

So doing QCB+AC input for Psycho Ball is invalid, for example.

My newer characters now include this, so that might be causing it.

I updated Chizuru's main archive.

- I fixed the previous mentioned bug.
- I also fixed a more pesky bug when her and her clone got hit at the same time.
- I fixed a problem with flickering-type afterimages remaining on-screen after getting hit.
- I have added her colors from KOF98UM.
- She gains one new super cancel from df + LK and the super cancel from QCF+P can now be done outside of max mode.

I downloaded to see if you were still using a certain piece of code that HDBZ viciously stole from you.

In your overridden states

You should do something like this instead.

In the right conditions the old gravity will make P2 get stuck in the air if the opponent has 0 or less for YAccel
I actually found this bug because your Halo stomp you coded for Piccolo has 0 YAccel :P

This way the opponent will still fall. Currently if Piccolo does Halo stomp and gets hit at the same time he hits P2 or while he's hitting them he or they get hit it can make them get stuck in the air. I doubt Piccolo is the only character to use 0 YAccel (or less). Figured I'd let you know. Congrats on the release!

Yeah IIRC they are in all the get hit ranges.

Just search for this block of code and replace it in all instances. That's what we did with HDBZ chars. Because even if the code found it's way outside of a hit state it could cause the same issue in whatever state you had it in.

I see it, I looked at Piccolo's coding. The bug is specifying yaccel of 0 rather than the gethit states themselves.

That move would've been better realized as a custom state in that first hit, I did not consider this possibility. It is my fault.

The reason is this:

Code:
yaccel = accel (float)
Specifies the y acceleration to impart to P2 if the hit connects. Defaults to .35 in 240p, .7 in 480p, 1.4 in 720p.

If I were to replace the yaccel code as you mention, I could potentially be breaking someone else's implementation of certain moves (cinematic moves come to mind). While it is unnatural to use positive yaccel, it is within the realm of possibility if you consider certain scenarios.

In Piccolo's case, he just needed a way for letting the "opponent go" in case he got hit! It just never occurred to me this would happen.

I think I'll have to pass on this, but thank you for the observation!

I guess technically either way you go you risk breaking someone else's moves. I'd think if they did a cinematic they should use a custom state. Either way you should use a custom state I suppose =p

This particular system is additive! That means that if you already had a "reflector" implementation then non-compatible projectiles will default to that. This is simple because the system includes a special ID that lets us detect compatible projectiles and reflectors.

For example, a projectile reflected forward, diagonally upwards and diagonally downwards.

The reflector is 1-1 reflection, the behavior of the reflected projectile is completely determined by the coder of said projectile. The key is precisely that the decision is completely free for the projectile coder to decide!

Good job. I know Chizuru especially took a lot of work and dedication. I'll look into making my chars compatible with the reflection and sealing properties. I wanted to note something about Jenet. IDK if this is intentional, though she can cancel out of her QCF + kick special, into the D + kick air special. Kinda like a momentary combo kinda thing. I DL'd them the first day you released them.

Am I the only one who gets an error trying to extract the files of Vans characters? Sorry for the necro, I registered only with the intention of PMing Vans or Jesuszilla about this issue, but it seems that I can't send private messages just yet.

Hmm, They are right, I went and downloaded them to confirm this, and yes, Vans files are broken for some reason.
You can try asking for them in the Requests section tho

Can’t recall if there’s any AI, but anyone is free to make it IINM.

Sorry I didn’t respond sooner, guys, I was at MAGFest this entire weekend. I’ll look into the issue tonight as they were working before. I should have latest versions of everything, but I’ll check with Vans once he gets back as he’s traveling for the next couple of days.

Thanks for your quick response Jesuszilla. Jenet and Chizuru can now be downloaded, but Athena doesn't actually show up. Shingo, Rugal, Xiangfei, and Hotaru are still broken.

Ah, so he deleted Athena. I'm not going to make it public again, since he probably had his reasons. Reuploaded the rest you mentioned, though it's also possible they're out of date since the months and file sizes look different.

I don't get why you care about what I care and my fucking elitist mentality, but I don't want to support leechers because maybe visiting TM helps out the content creators in some sense, and especially because some of the warehouse sites put ads on the download links trying to gain money off the effort of people like Vans or Jesuszilla.
