Title: Plans for SHADEs of Manhattan 3
Post by: Sean Altly on January 18, 2012, 11:51:54 PM
At some point in the future, I will make a SHADEs 3, just because things seem better as trilogies IMHO. It would wrap the main story up and be the climax for the series. Whether I make this during or after Capcom vs The World is up in the air. I've found working on popular characters for that game to be a generally negative experience, so it may be a bit before I get back to work on it. I will finish it though, because I don't want SafirKreuz's portraits or WizzyWhipitWonderful's excellent themes to go to waste.

Anyway, here are the main plans for SHADEs of Manhattan 3: City of Chaos.

PLOT

-The main plot would revolve around Byrne's permanent transformation into the rage-fueled being known as Obsydian. He would then align himself with a weakened Kane Kelly, and they would begin wreaking havoc on New York City. Snow, upset about Chad In Black's self-imposed exile at the end of SHADEs 2, decides once and for all to put an end to Maddicorp by any means necessary. Meanwhile, Maddigan becomes increasingly more obsessed with capturing or eliminating the SHADEs subjects, and relinquishes his CEO duties to Fray. The ensuing chaos with Obsydian and Kane causes more subjects to come out of hiding, some of them to battle the two, and some of them to take advantage of the situation for their own gain.

GAMEPLAY CHANGES/UPDATES:

-The forward hop and forward hop attacks will be replaced with runs for everyone. While I've been working on CvTW and playing more KoF games, I've decided I just like the Run system better.
-Everyone will have the same command for their DM.
-Characters will get a slight attack boost when their Super Meter is full.
-More to come as I decide or receive suggestions.

PLANNED/POSSIBLE NEW CHARACTERS:

Note: Most of the following art is concept/unfinished art.

-Afterimage
(http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b293/seanaltly/Character%20Art/Afterimage2Color.png)
Short Bio: Chris Malone is a young runaway with the best of intentions. He aligns himself with Maddicorp due to a feeling of loyalty to Joseph Maddigan, who had awarded Chris' family a large amount of money when they were down on their luck. Chris' father wasted the money, which led to him running away and becoming part of the experiment, and later, the Collection Agency. He is unaware that Moses Maddigan is actually responsible for Joseph's death.
Abilities: Able to produce and control life-like copies of himself.

-Elle
(http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b293/seanaltly/Character%20Art/ElleColor.png)
Short Bio: Elle is a mysterious agent of a clandestine British law enforcement agency. She is dispatched to New York when The Specialist, an international assassin, is identified in the background of one of Maddigan's photos in the Empire Chronicle. The Specialist had been very careful not to be photographed, but it became nearly impossible once he started to work for Maddicorp. Her only mission is to capture The Specialist and bring him back to England. The Specialist abandons Maddicorp and the Agency in order to deal with Elle himself.
Abilities: Nothing supernatural, but she's an extremely skilled agent of espionage, trained in many hand-to-hand combat styles. She has a gun in her picture, but she won't use it during fights. There are already too many people with guns.

-Castle
(http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b293/seanaltly/Character%20Art/Castle.png)
-Short Bio: Ambrosio Castillón is the leader of a powerful private militia based in South America. Planning a huge coup, Castillón volunteers for the experiment to see if it can benefit his army and make them stronger. He is a man of honor and feels that he should volunteer first, since he would not ask his men to do something he would not. He becomes nearly impervious to pain or damage of any kind. He decides to keep these powers to himself, and tells his men that he is invincible because he has been chosen by God to lead them. He recognizes Obsydian and Kane as the only beings capable of stopping him, and arrives in NYC to dispose of them so that he can be free to conquer.
Abilities: Feels no pain, and his skin is impervious to damage from almost any man-made weaponry. Appears to be undying. However, he is still susceptible to internal injuries and trauma.

-Relay
(http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b293/seanaltly/Character%20Art/relay.png)
Short Bio: A young girl from inner city New York. She's a former friend of Wyldestar's and a bit naive. She was always an over-achiever at her mostly Hispanic High School, and a star athlete on several teams, including basketball and track. She volunteers for the experiment, not knowing how long it would take or how costly to her life it would be, in order to get an edge on the other students competing for College scholarships, since her family couldn't afford to pay for it themselves. Unfortunately, the experiment robs her of the important years of her life, and when she escaped with the others, she returned home where she he has been in hiding until now. To those here with more knowledge of the culture and language, I am open to suggestions for her name. Her family is from Mexico but she was born and raised in New York. I don't have a name for her because up until recently, she was intended to be Caucasian, but I recently decided to make her Hispanic since I have too many white people.  :P
Abilities: Obviously, she has the gift of super-human speed.

Gospel
(http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b293/seanaltly/Character%20Art/gospel2a.png)
Short Bio: Gospel's real name is Chelsea Wright, and she was raised by extremely strict, protective, devout Christian parents. Their over protectiveness leads her to run away, much like Snow and Sabotage. She ends up in NYC, alone and without any friends. She is soon kidnapped by agents of Maddicorp for the experiment. When she escapes, she realizes that her parents were right, and that the world is filled with vile, deviant people who only want to hurt her and others. She decides that they must pay for their sins, and she becomes a violent zealot who claims to be doing God's work.
Abilities: Able to create and manipulate electricity.

Gant
(http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b293/seanaltly/Character%20Art/Gant.png)(http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b293/seanaltly/Character%20Art/GantAlt2.png)(http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b293/seanaltly/Character%20Art/GantAlt.png)(http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b293/seanaltly/Character%20Art/GantAlt3a.png)
Note: Those that have played SHADEs 2 may recognize Gant from Bloodtide's ending. I have two designs for him here because I realize I have a lot of suit/tie-wearing characters. I like the suit design, but the more combat ready design works as well for him, and reflects the precautions he would have to take as a retired field agent forced into action after a long period of inaction. I'm torn, and any suggestions or opinions are welcome. I also had this weird third design where he was basically wearing Yamazaki's outfit, but with suspenders and his ID/badge hanging around his neck like John McClane in Die Hard With a Vengeance. It ended up looking a little silly, but I can post it too if you guys like.
Short Bio: Gant is Bloodtide's direct superior and "handler" in the CIA. After she begins to show doubts in her mission and expresses more concern for her friends and family, Gant decides that in order to avoid any mishaps, he'll have to become a field agent again and handle the situation himself. Gant is ruthless and single-minded to a fault.
Abilities: Nothing supernatural, but is an expert fighter and particularly skilled with explosives. He is also a great leader, and has the support of his team.

Donny Brooks
(http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b293/seanaltly/Donny2a.png)
Short Bio: A lifelong friend of Ruckus and his tag-tam partner. Together they're multiple-time Tag Team champions The Manhattan Madmen. Donny decides that things are getting too dangerous for him to sit idly by, only helping now and then, and decides to throw himself into the situation head-on in support of Ruckus. He may also have a soft spot for Fray, but he would never tell her brother that because bros before hos, man. He has a great sense of humor and is actually very kind and agreeable when not in a fight or in the ring.
Abilities: Nothing supernatural, but he exhibits peak strength and durability. He would definitely be a big, slow, pure grappler, something SHADEs is lacking.

More info to come.

NEW DESIGNS FOR EXISTING CHARACTERS

Here is the planned new design for Snow. Nothing terribly drastic, enough so that it will just be an edit of the existing sprites. The one after that is Moses' new design. He will have brand-new sprites.

So, Chirs will be based off of Charlie from SFA. Castillion from that Resident Evil guy you just made ... but I just can't figure out the lady. Is she going to be based from Mature/Vice without the long skirt?

Also, do it like Castillón, or Castrillón ... Castillión is the uncommon-to-non-existent category.
Title: Re: Plans for SHADEs of Manhattan 3

Chris won't be based off of Charlie, they just have similar outfits. Castle was going to be an edit of Mr. X, but I've since grown too fond of his design and personality, and will instead make all new sprites for him. Nothing yet on the girl.

I rarely base my characters off of just one person. Outside of Snow, Thirteen, and Specialist, I try to vary the anims as much as possible. For example, Sabotage has anims from Terry, Dudley, Heavy D, SNK's version of Balrog, and Ryu. Zenith has anims from Hayato, Iori, Hibiki, and Kaede. Rorschach has anims from Seth, Q, Spider-Man, and Sean. So on and so forth.

Also, I was given Castillion as a randomly generated Spanish surname and liked it, which led to the nickname Castle and the development of his powers. I Googled it and found it, it's supposed to be a form of Castillo. I understand you'd know this stuff better than I would, I just wanted to note that it is a real name and I like the way it sounds better than the other forms of it.

Further research shows that Castillion isn't even part of that research (http://www.miparentela.com/mapas/inicio/alfabetica/index66540_ca.html) I posted, while Castillo and Castillón are indeed VERY common names.

Edit. EVEN FURTHER RESEARCH (http://www.mundia.com/mx/surnames/castillion#) shows that statistically it's a very rare. There's not a single registered Castillion family in any of the countries of Central or South America. There are 34 families registered in all of Mexico, and 95 in the USA ... and that's pretty much the whole continent. If you really want to go with that name, say he's american, and be over with it.

Yeah, Walt, we're cool and all and I have respect for you, but the line "If you really want to go with that name, say he's American and be over with it" really irks me. He's my character. If there are families with that name in Mexico, how hard would it be to believe that some of them ended up in South America at some point? It's fiction, man, just because there's not currently any families registered in South America with that name doesn't mean there isn't in the fictional world that SHADEs is set in. Ever seen Thank You For Smoking? One line can explain it away. His family is from Mexico. He moved to somewhere in South America. Boom, done. Can we move on now?

The only ideas I have for the system is faster guard breaking and the addition of a stun gauge (That works similarly to SF3's in that different attacks of a character's moveset can increase it ALOT or very little, and combos hardly increase it.). So that way it pays off a bit more to be aggressive in different ways than just BnBs. The new characters look great and I'm very interested in Castle. Though with Ellie I hope her fighting style is based on a real martial art, and not just "street".

If you make another character I suggest a Bruce Lee character, no fighting game is complete without one.  :)

Title: Re: Plans for SHADEs of Manhattan 3
Post by: Sean Altly on January 26, 2012, 11:15:51 PM
I like Veronica, now I just need a surname. I don't want anything too common, like Garcia or Rodriguez or anything, but I do want something authentic. Something with a meaning relating to her character like Castle would be cool.

Also, I wanted to throw an idea out there. Since this will be the last game, and it should bring things to a close, I was thinking of having Moses Maddigan wear his father's stopwatch around his neck and use both hands while fighting. It was something I planned on doing eventually, and I realized this was going to be the last one, so it's natural to go ahead and do it. Let me know your thoughts, everybody.
Title: Re: Plans for SHADEs of Manhattan 3
Post by: Cazaki on January 26, 2012, 11:55:51 PM
Vivas. It's the last name of my mexican best friend, I actually think Veronica works really well with it. It means to "Live" though, so I'm not sure if that's meaningful enough. Hopefully her moveset isn't completely revolving around her powers, but nothing too martial-artsy or traditional since she doesn't particularly have any training in fighting (As far as that overview says anyway.).

Another suggestion I have for this game's mechanics is to be more picky about what moves are able to be cancelled into specials, as well as being more original with magic chains. I feel like you got into more balancing troubles because practically every move cancelled into something for an easy combo, so maybe for some you could make it so certain moves and I DO mean basic moves, not just command normals for every character absolutely will not be special cancellable, maybe someone's medium punch or heavy, and give that attack special properties accordingly (Like unusually large hitstun or make it difficult to punish.). Along with that, you could be more original with magic chains. Not everyone would have a basic 1-2-3 like they all do, maybe some powerhouse like Moses could have this really slow overhead heavy kick or unusually damaging medium punch, so you would have shorter chains. I think it'll really mix the game up some.

The damage dampener in SHADES 2 is also really over the top and makes plenty of combos in the game pretty much identical in damage and utility so I think you should look into that some.

Also, I think you should go balls out on Moses and make him as awesome as you possibly can, I'm really excited to see the new Moses in action. How are you going to change his specials?
Title: Re: Plans for SHADEs of Manhattan 3
Post by: Sean Altly on January 27, 2012, 12:43:19 AM
The damage dampener is definitely getting worked on and will be overhauled for the game. It will likely involve special and super moves not suffering as much as basics do. The chaining system though will probably go unchanged, to be honest. I like the extremely loose cancels and the way most/all basics cancel into specials, and specials cancel into supers, etc. At this point, if I were to change that, it would require a lot of rebalancing and reworking of people's moves and damage values, and that's not something I want to get into at this point. I might make it work like MVC3, where larger/more damaging characters can only chain two basics together and what not, and smaller fast characters can do the DS chaining where you can alternate between crouching/standing versions of the same basic. I know it would mix things up more, but I just like the way it works right now. It gives the game a certain level of pick-up-and-playability, if that makes sense.
Title: Just a couple of ideas
Post by: walt on January 27, 2012, 12:50:37 AM
NAME
María de la Luz = Mary of the Light. <- Short for it could be Marilu
Velocidad de la luz = Speed of Light.

LAST NAME
Andaluz = Anda (Go, walk, move forward) Luz (light) <- This is Spanish though, but Mexico was a Spanish colony so it could happen. I personally never met someone with this name, but it wouldn't surprise me.
Asencio / Asensio = Ascend
Bravo = dunno, means the same in english, you use it for cheering. Also, it could mean Mad, Angry (Perro Bravo = Mad Dog)

Are the ones under "NAME" whole names? As in, is de la Luz a surname/last name? Because if so, I dig it.

I'm really looking forward to elle, so keep up the good work.   since you're not going to have her use her gun, it would be cool if it was part of somekind of special or a grab. where she either does  a kind of choker hold and shoots'em in the face, or she could throw'em on the floor step on his/her back and caps'em

Actually no. They're just first name + middle name, kind of deal. Still needs a Surname.

The "Speed of Light" is actually the concept in itself, not a name. I just wanted you to see the similarity, of how an actual name could have a portion of the SOL concept in it, if you wanted to tie it to the special ability of running super fast :P Also, like I said, short for Maria de la Luz could be Marilu, so you don't have to put the full name anyhwere but in her bio, and have the similiraty explained somewhere in dialog only.

Valencia is a surname, also a name of a city in Spain. Rodrigo, in the other hand is a name for men and could be a surname too.

This is probably being too picky but I feel I should say something about it. The new Moses design looks great, but something about how low the buttons on his shirt go makes me hesitant. He seems a lot more like he would wear it just one or two more buttons up. Right now he reminds me a bit of Scarface with no undershirt, to tell the truth.

So, here's the first sprite for new Moses. I won't be able to work on him fully for a while, but I wanted to show you guys what he'll look like in sprite form. He's always used Yamazaki as a base for his animations, so it's no big deal that it will be more evident with the new sprites. I was tempted to just copy and paste Yamazaki's legs since they both where dress slacks and I'm using Yamazaki's feet anyway, but I decided to draw them myself. I know people will still go "ah, Yamazaki edit" or whatever, but just know that every pixel, save for the shoes, was drawn by me. Also, the colors aren't final, although I'm kind of digging the green jacket/white shirt combo.

Well, I haven't quite decided on the whole two hands thing yet. Plus, even if he does use both hands more, I still like the look of his keeping one hand behind his back. It's kind of his thing at this point. If he does use both hands and the pocket watch is around his neck, you wouldn't be able to see much of it any way because of how long it is. It would be tucked into his shirt and he'd pull it out for win poses and taunts and what not. I did forget the little gold chain that he has in his portrait, but that's not final until I decide on the whole one/two hands thing.

Keep the one hand thing. It provides him with a very cocky feeling about himself, much befitting his character. Also, for some reason the thought of having one hand behind his back brings up a feeling of dishonesty in me. It makes him a much more unique fighter as well, straying from the "Me big bad guy, me smash you," motif found in other fighting games.

Thanks for the input guys, it's appreciated.

Here's his stance:

Had to shorten him up a bit, he was way too tall compared to the rest of the cast. He's supposed to be very tall, but he looked like he was a foot taller than Sabotage, when he's really only supposed to be 5 or 6 inches taller.

What's with the new threads?

He's supposed to be dressed more casually to reflect him becoming more focused on capturing the subjects. He's relinquished his CEO position to Fray so that he can lead the Collection Agency himself. Plus, he needed a sprite update, so if I'm going through the trouble to give him new sprites, I wanted to update his look too. It's no fun making an entirely new set of sprites for the exact same design. That's why Fray and Bloodtide got new outfits when I remade their sprites, aside from the storyline reasons that is.

He's probably more referring to her back story and the fact that she's a villain who is a religious zealot, especially since I referred specifically to Christianity. Like I said though, no offense intended, she's just one character, not representative.

If they get butthurt about then they must know someone who is like that or IS like that. You know how denial works, it's like calling a closet homo gay and he gets mad about it lol. Essentially there's nothing wrong with this design, it works.

Well, Elle, Afterimage, and Castle are definitely going to be in. Elle is essential to a part of the story. She's after The Specialist, which causes him to abandon his position as leader of the Collection Agency, which in turn leads to Moses Maddigan relinquishing his CEO position and personally leading the Agency. That's why he has a new outfit and everything. With Castle, I just like his design too much, and the game needs a big guy. Afterimage is a character that's been in the works for a while now, and was intended to be in SHADEs 2.5 with Dark Nation, but that's probably not happening now, so he'll at least be in SHADEs 3. Everyone else is a toss up.

Not sure about a poll, if I end up feeling obligated to do a character, it becomes something like work. Then it's not as much fun anymore. Which reminds me, I need to get started on at least one of those poll winners for CvtW pretty soon. If I could just get started on Axel, he will be the easiest one. Argh, motivation.

I actually think the design and the backstory are really cool and I'd love to see her in the game.

Also nothing about the character is demonizing Christianity at all.  At least no more than Byrne's design demonizes anarchy.  She's a villain with religion as part of her backstory, she's no worse than Goenitz at all.

Can't really blame him. You can rarely see Christianity or fictional religions based on it being used in a positive light in media. Either it's people are extremists or it's a disguised evil cult.

It's not negative portrayal of the religion itself, but the way the person handles or preaches it.  And sadly it is in fact rooted in reality.  Look at the Westboroh Baptist Church and similar groups.

Just from a description of Gant, he seems like he would be played a lot like an explosives based version of The Specialist. He just doesn't seem like he would really be that interesting of a character to me. I mean, he makes a good background character, but I can't really see him as a front-line fighter. I say have him take a more active role in Bloodtide's story, not in the arena.

Well the 3 confirmed are my favorites. I like Relay a bit but Gospel it would depend on her moveset and what she might bring to the game. If she's just the everyday character that just has utility (Y'know, projectile, rush attack, AA, command grab, etc.) then I don't know if I'm all over it, if her moveset introduced some good, extreme gimmicks that causes for unique strategies and makes fighting her FUN then sure. I'm not a big fan of Gant either, I don't know if I want another character like him in the game. He seems extremely similar to the other badasses like the Specialist, Zenith, Laurel and such. I think you should go for something more off-the-wall for the next characters, like a giant character like Sentinel (I do mean huge. Not a realistic kind of huge.), or a pint-sized character similar to Amaterasu, something crazy.

That's just me talking though.

I was actually just telling a friend that I probably won't do bonus characters for SHADEs 2 or 3, just because I think the characters can stand on their own now. That does remind me that Tristan is the only older character of mine that hasn't gotten a code and sprite overhaul. I should probably do that.

Hmmm, no love for Gant. I just wanted to include him because I thought it would be cool to have him appear in endings two games in a row and then become playable, but I understand where you're coming from. I'll probably just keep him as a background character, though I haven't completely decided yet. I will be honest though, I don't have any plans for any huge/tiny characters. Castle will be large, but no bigger than say, Maxima from KoF. I just like to keep things a bit grounded, as I think that at this point in the series, an abnormally large or small character wouldn't really fit in.

That sounds extremely difficult and tedious. I'm not even sure it could be done since all three outfits have different surface textures and sleeve lengths and such, stuff that wouldn't be flat and thus couldn't be pulled off with palette trickery.

For everyone else, I updated the first post again, this time with Ruckus' partner, Donny Brooks. I think he'd be a fun addition to the game, would make sense storyline wise, and would fill the big, slow, grappler void.

I see what you mean, lol. His second outfit is more suitable for combat.

While I like Gant so far, he could use something more; having him focus on explosives seems too generalized, being similar to Specialist in terms of firearms. Yet I think giving him a kinetic ability may be a good derivative of the concept -- not as in Fray's explosive punches nor grenades, but strong bursts of wind to shatter concrete. Since he's apparently not the rushdown type, this could be used to space and get him around, perhaps even to rebound projectiles as well. I feel this kind of power fits well for his demeanor.

Just tossing that out there. :3

Whilst I'd love to say that all of them should feature, there's only so much one person can do!

I love the idea of Elle, because she's someone without powers.  However, Gant would be a far better addition as he's in the somewhat known already.

Gospel sounds like fun.  Regardless of her character, her powers could be fun.

Donny and Castle are musts for me... they just sound fun.

Castle looks badass. Reminds me of the colonel from Advance Wars: Days of Ruin, who was also badass.

but Donny in SHADEs 3. I like the idea, even if I'd never really play him. Grapplers are fun to fight, and in any case, I'd love to see your new DM for Ruckus. (unless you do something like make "Sweet and Sour" be the DM if they're fighting together in simul mode, which would be a pain to do, but an awesome detail. and if you do end up putting Donny in, I will check for it. Just in case.)

I'm half wondering how Gant would look wearing a vest over the suit. Or something to just highlight that he's retired in a subtle way.

Title: Re: Plans for SHADEs of Manhattan 3

@ Super Invisible

Sticking with the sprites I have. There's no way I'm going to redo the entire cast in hi-res sprites at this point. I prefer the lo-res, semi-CVS style sprites anyway.

@ Urbane Virtuoso and Oxe

The problem there is that Gant was not a part of the experiment so he has no powers. I have him focusing one explosives to set him apart from the other gun users like Specialist and Laurel.

@ xaekin

Ruckus would get a new DM. I actually already have an idea for it. And with Gant, I thought of that too, just without the jacket. I'll whip up a version of it just to see.

EDIT: I just found this (http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/Hawaii-Five-O_9221.jpg) via Google Image Search and I think it would look like the guy on the far left, Scott Caan.

@ Cazaki

Nothing specific planned for Gant's moveset yet, since I'm still narrowing it down to six or seven new characters and I don't want to get too far ahead of myself. Donny would be a pretty straight forward grappler. A lot of people have command throws, but he would be almost all grapples for specials and supers, plus his signature Burning Lariat. I was thinking of a grapple system where he would have a command that grabs his opponent, and then pressing additional commands would determine which moves you do, kind of like Buckus' Saturday Night Slam Masters characters. Otherwise, he'd be pretty traditional, since like I said, there aren't any traditional grapplers in the game.

Title: Re: Plans for SHADEs of Manhattan 3
Post by: SlySuavity on February 06, 2012, 07:31:59 AM
I see, though it would take some to do that well. The least I can offer Gant is a synthetic variant of said-kinetic power; not exactly superhuman, but a man-made weapon -- like C. Viper's gloves. He'd need to one-up Bloodtide so this seems reasonable, though you could also toss in bombs to further differentiate his moveset. This augmentation could help him deviate more. :)

As for Gospel, I like the graceful design very much; it strays from the majority.  Looking to be defensive, I'm sure she'd meld nicely with trapping mechanics (think of Roa's/Aoko's Orbs from Melty Blood). Things to subdue her opponent with corner-pressure.

Added one more possible design for Gant, one where he's wearing a bullet proof vest over a dress shirt and tie, like discussed earlier. It's actually my favorite now. It's funny, I'm putting a lot of time into the look of a character that judging by peoples' responses would probably place lowly in a poll if I made one for the new characters.

Just wanted to pop in and say how much I like the designs for Gospel, Castle, and Elle. All three sound very cool concept wise AND have EXCELLENT designs. I can see why Elle and Castle would have obvious hand to hand training, but what about Gospel? Could she have the appearance  of a "weaker" untrained style? I think that, along with her overzealous bent, would really help define her character. I'm seeing imagery of her being confident "walking in god's path", but having little apparent fighting style "training". Not sure how that would be conveyed, but thought I'd throw it out there.

Also, will Dark Nation be a Shades 2.5 "exclusive" or will be he coming to Shades 3 too? Just wondered.

It certainly holds up well against commercial titles like SFA or CvS which is impressive considering the project is make by a single individual.

Do the games follow like sequels or is Shades 2/3 just the same game with more characters like SFA3 pretty much was?

It's a sequel, although I wouldn't recommend going back and playing SHADEs 1. The sprites back then were not very good, and I've learned a lot more about coding since then so the gameplay is kind of messy. The intro for SHADEs 1 is on Youtube, and the intro for SHADEs 2 is pretty much all you need to get caught up on the story. The endings from SHADEs 1 would help, and Demonic Kirishima had uploaded a video containing all of the endings but I searched for it recently and it says that it has been removed by the user. I'm in the process of contacting him about reuploading.

When's SSJ4 Moses Maddigan coming out? He sounds like a very challenging character. I especially think that your idea to have all his commands be mapped to one button, including special and supermoves (as well as his Shun Goku Satsu) will greatly balance the game, and will allow for people playing him to feel sufficiently challenged.

That looks really cool, but I should note that Thirteen wouldn't be in that kind of shape. He's supposed to be pretty scrawny and sickly, like Dhalsim. I'd love to see the animation though.

How about something like this?

I think the overall deign is good, but with that kind of muscle, his head just kind of looks slapped on.

That is very cool, but it doesn't suit him, like sean said.  I was thinking more along the lines of him dressed in an institution outfit, like the ones patients wear.  Possibly a broken straitjacket.  Also, his head all bandaged, except for his good eye and shock therapy headgear.

I was under the impression that Thirteen has been on a constant killing streak for 2 straight games.
So his cloths would be torn pretty bad from all of his battles.
What if he had no shirt at all?

Thanks for not totaly rejecting my concept suggestion Sean.
I wish I still had the animation but this is the only frame that saved. I was trying to make it all G Rugal looking.
I am really excited to see how this game tops 2.

Sudden, if he was in a broken straight jakect that would be cool to have those long sleaves hanging from his arms . I never beat Shades 2 so I dont know Thirteens ending.

I like this idea a lot. Having those giant bones suddenly spike out from under the sleeves would certainly look really cool, if nothing else.

Ooh, now that I didn't think of.  That would look supercool coming out of the sleeves.  I can see that now XP

I LOVE your characters man. SHADES 2 was a sick game as well. Can't wait to see Gant and Donny in action. I like suited characters, and I REALLY dig wrestlers. I even created a stage specifically for your CM Punk.

Looking forward to SHADES 3 :swoon:

Is it wrong that I kind of want Gospel just on the slim chance that she has a move called Electric Boogaloo?
