Hello, everybody...

This is pretty much my first conversion, and I'm still pretty inexperienced at CvS sprite editing. So without further ado, I present to you what I've done,
and a comparison between the Alpha sprite and mine:

I know that most of it is incomplete, but I guess this is what yo can expect from a beginner. I'd really appreciate any form of creative criticism, because I really want to get better at CvS spriting.

Most of the details are gone (the muscles in the legs and the upper body) and you changed the lightsource.

Thanks for the reply. I wasn't expecting anyone to reply so quickly.

About the light source, isn't it supposed to change when converting from CPS2 to CvS style? Just curious, and thanks.

You forgot most of the anatomy. Knee lines, leg muscles, be careful in the arms and the chest. I would suggest you tto keep the same lines as in the SFZ sprite, just rshade the whole thing ;)

Good luck!!
I swear there was something cool here!!

The lightsource is always directly from above.
But in the Alpha/Zero sprites the shading is handled a bit differently.

Let's see if I can explain.
Look at the Alpha sprite and
- look at his right leg (artist's left): it is close to the "camera", so it uses lighter colours; the same for mostly all of his right (your left) part of the body;
- look at his left (artist's right): do you see that it's darker? It's because it's farther from the "camera".
I hope I explained.

In your sprite, excluding the right leg (artist's left), the lightsource is in front of him. That would work if you were going for KoF-style.

@ Alex Sinigaglia: Thanks, man. I tried what you siad and this is currently what I came up with:

Although it's very incomplete, I wanted to ask you if you had any tips on color breaking the outlines in the CvS style, cuz I suck at it.

P.S I used the head and hands of your CvS Zangief sprite. :)

Well, after fiddling around with the anti-aliasing, I pretty much got this:

Any criticism? Ways to improve? Things to edit???

Now you can do random breathing. In KOF13 there was such a thing: for example, Kula here yawned randomly.
Fun fact: I can't remain silent about problems of M.U.G.E.N, or the entire Gameworld, but i can't say about them without it turning into shitpost.

Perhaps slight facial hair movement or eye movement?
The face and hands are very static

The shading is jumpy and the right knee (artist's left) jumps. And what Genesis said about the face and the hands.

Well, thanks for the replies. Took a while to fix (had to start it all over..), but after editing his CvS2 sprites:

Any better than the last one?

(Sorry for the speedy animation, I'm not good at making animations with photoshop...)

Compared to the other one, it's improved a lot.
The first thing I can notice is that the right shoe (your left) doesn't move a lot (it's like it "absorbs" the leg). Another thing that is a bit difficult to notice is that he closes one eye (in the right) in some frames.

Yep, I understood what you meant there. Anyhow, here it is after editing:

I'm gonna start doing crouching and turning poses tomorrow. I really wasted a lot of time on the idle pose (albeit it was worth it for all the insight I got  :D...)

P.S Again, if the animation speed is off, I apologize...
