So I thought of using AI to generate an image for a stage. The result was so satisfying and it ended up being so much fun to make that I ended up making a bunch of them (with some people even pitching in).

They're pretty simple stages in terms of layering but I think some turned out nice. They should feel right at home in your collection if you have stages from some "anime" games.

They all use high resolution 24bit images so they can only be used in Mugen 1.1 and Ikemen GO. Since that was the case I just made them all with zoom as well.

They're all complete with AI-generated BGM, just for kicks.

Nice try, PotS. I like what was achieved with Cursed Cap Grove and Yozora Duel Grounds.
I wonder if could think of a process to obtain a set of layers and then put together a coherent scenario, avoiding the single image. For example, a sky, a mountain range, a wooded valley, and a floor/ground. And at the same time they all share aesthetic characteristics. I do not know if I explained well?

Anyway, can I ask which AI Image Generator are you using here?

I wish there were a tutorial on making AI-generated stages because I would like to have type lumina stages for Mugen 1.1 or Ikemen Go. I can also commission them to someone if I have the funds to do so.

It might be possible if you ask the AI to only generate one layer or so, but I didn't try. It takes a while to generate images so it'd be hard to get consistent layers I think.

I wasn't too worried about using a single image because what's interesting here is coming up with different ideas and compositions. I wanted to make a dozen interesting stages rather than one with separated layers, if that makes sense. Several games use this type of stages, too.

Microsoft Bing Image Creator. When you run out of boosts (which refill every day) you can use the Microsoft Bing chat and ask it to generate images.
The BGM's were made with Soundraw.

In your case another interesting use for AI would be to test ideas of new stages before you work on them. Or maybe to make it generate a single object that you're missing for one of your works.

Good looking images. I need dl and give my 2cents, if need be. I always enjoyed your stages. This is very new and interesting to me. If you take commission or request, how about a cybernetic castlevania type stage.lol It could be raining blood, or have a eclipse sun burning in the background. Oh don’t forget the lighting and thunder. I have many interesting ideas.lol

It seems fair to me. In fact, I find that these stages are very much in tune with the type of CvS2 and your particular chars conversions.

So how does this work? I get the general idea but how do you get it to create a viable stage with a viable floor for the characters? Is it as simple as typing "fighting game stage with big eyeball"?

Like what's an example of a prompt you typed in?

This is the result of that prompt.

you basically need to be a bit more specific for a good generation but its a trial thing, you test things slowly you tell it what materials to use and etc and eventually you get to something nice looking.

Since these are just a single layer, isit possible to generate a day and night version of the same image and have it slowly transition as time goes on?

Not with these tools, at least. That might be possible with a generator that lets you save a seed. You'd generate something then change the time of day, pretty much.

I think it´s possible use old low-res stages to create AI versions in HD concept.

and surely to create stages new stages for projects.

The AI seems to economize a lot of work for all.

You caught me. I hadnt actually downloaded any of them. I just saw the stage preview and immediately thought of what I'd do to that assumed static image to try to make the stage pop a little more. Under that assumption I just wasnt sure I could seperate the irises away from the side of the eyeball and not have it look off. Looks like you were way ahead of me regardless.

Thanks.

Added another two.

About the second one (the crypt), Iced made the prompt a good while ago but I've been sitting on the source image since then because, although I liked the composition, I wasn't sure how to make it interesting or less flat. I finally got around to separating the layers and even resizing some of them for a better feeling of depth. The end result is probably one of the best of the bunch.

I'm replacing all shiyo stages for these, they're so beautiful, my main stages will be these from now
I wish some stages could have more animation, but is just little detail
they are amazing, keep up the amazing work
didn't know AI is so awesome

Added a new one today.

Also did a significant update to "Bone the Cook" (the one with the giant skull cook). I think it turned out a lot better than the first version, if I may say so myself.

Which one do you like but think could have more animation? I'm no stranger to revisiting older works so I might update some. That said it's all original assets so adding animation isn't that easy.

You can ask it to make pixel art. Or of course just downscale the images.

Updated the "Deep Violet Haze" stage with layer separation.

the only thing stupider than generating ai images as a stand-in for art in the first place is asking it to generate "pixel art." under even the tiniest modicum of scrutiny, the product it outputs completely falls apart. not that it didn't already do so for anything else.

Actually, I get used to the stages, theres no need to change, they're backass
Keep the amazing work, is so good to have the stages with this quality from the same author

Sorry to dig up this topic, and, well, dear POTS, I must say your AI stages are all very good. Plus you did a good work to make some animations, and music : thanks for all of this.

My only question is the same that the one I asked to Tiger Boy on another topic (for some of hif Ikeme stages) :
playing your stages on Ikemen in 16:9 is a bit sad. The view is way too close form the chars, hiding most of the scene (see image below).
Is there an easy way to "correct" it ?

(and to answer kamui, I had no problem to download stages from your site, Mediafire is working fine).

This sounds like a systemfit/stagefit issue both of which haven't been added to ikemen yet. That's why they look very large at their starting positions.

Thanks for your answer. And yes, sure, for the "Stagefit" problem in Mugen not existing in Ikemen.

But PotS published all of his AI stages for both MUGEN and Ikemen. And I think I saw screenshots of them in 16:9, having a better starting view, not so close from the chars, and allowing to see more of these beautiful stages.

So I think there must be a way. Especially as I spotted the exact same problem with a stage designed specifically for Ikemen in 16:9 ("SF2 Ken Battle Harbor", designed for Ikemen in 16:9 by Tiger Boy). I posted some picture on this topic, showing the problem :

Mugen/Ikemen's default widescreen look is actually similar to modern SF games. But if you don't want the camera so close to the chars I suppose the easiest way would be to change the zoomin parameter of the stages, since they're already ready for zoom.

Many thanks for the answer, PotS. Playing with the zoom, OK. That's what I thought but as I also thought that many had a better view with your stages than I had, I believed in magic.  :hyo:
