Well it worked somehow, since we could only see that he posted in a certain thread but not see his post unless you checked the "recent" post option or his profile.
What about troll banishment? We make a user group and forum section that only trolls can post in. We could just banish them there instead of banning them.
//edit: Damn it Byakko, let me post something!!And who will moderate it?You'll say, "they can post whatever they want then and it won't be our problem", but that can be bad too if you just let them do whatever they can just because it will be out of your sight.
The question is, why would they even post in it if they know nobody else (that isn't a troll) can see their posts.
Then that would be different from banning how ? The point of the ninja-ban that was suggested earlier was that the user wouldn't realize nobody would see him. If a troll knows he's banned or moved to an invisible board, he registers a new account, and you staff members need to track him down when he does that. If he doesn't realize he's ninja-banned, he keeps the same account, and you don't have to care about him.
The only difference would be they could troll each other till their hearts content. Other than that, there would be no difference, you are correct.
But troll's don't troll each other. That's silly. They troll a userbase in a manner to make themselves annoying. Without that wide userbase to troll, they won't bother. They'll just consider it a ban and come back as someone else. Who we then need to recognise as the same person and work out that they are the same person, and then ban them.Ninja mute (which val is sadly unable to implement aside from that one time on rednavi) would be an awesome solution because all you have is a troll who is never responded to. The saying "don't feed the trolls" is actually pretty good.
