^Same. Watched it last night. Excellent movie.

I never noticed they translated the characters' names in the English version. THAT'S ULTRA LAME.

Contagion,
I can't beleive how good this movie is.
About the WHO lady, they could at least show a short scene of her walking into the village, it is kinda obvious that she did that, but if every other plot is closed in a clearer way, hers should be the same.
That’s when I thought, “good grief”
Just ain’t my belief

TRAILER

A movie about a young Adolf Hitler who struggles to make it as an artist in Germany after the first world war. The clinch is that he's caught between an offer into politics and has to choose between Germany or an art career.

^ wow, I bet it matches with your swastika avatar

btw,  I just watched
Ninja (2009) starring Scott Adkins
that was the true successor of ninja movie genre, great costume, great ninja battle, like 1000x better than michael dudikoff.
and the costume of the evil ninja was exceptionally cool.

I liked the symbol itself and decided to use it as my "X" after seeing it in the film and realized how beautiful a shape it was.

Boyz n the Hood

Before the opening scene of Boyz n the Hood, two messages flash across the screen: "One out of every twenty-one Black American males will be murdered in their lifetime," and "Most will die at the hands of another black male."
The movie is about a boy named Tre and his father Furious Styles (Lawrence Fishburne) who is a hard ass on his son because he wants him to make something of himself. I wont spoil the details, but the central theme of the movie is that black men need a strong father figure in their life or chances are they will end up dead or in jail.

I wished I had watched this movie alone. The movie is about how terrible hood life is, and yet you have my classmates saying things like "Ell' yeah dey needed to kill dat bitch niggah!'. Its as if they want to live this sort of life.

  • That's right. Get all the marmalade Mr. Giraffe
^That was a great movie for what it represents but I think anyone that sees it now will laugh at it and say the same thing as your classmates said. The same goes for any type of movie in the hood life genre and it sucks because they really do have a positive message. I think it gets ridiculed and made fun of because of that.

30 minutes or less

Micheal Pena is fucking hilarious in this movie. The movie itself was alright  but didn't really go above my expectations

If your talking about the cheesiness of movies as they age, then yeah, I can agree with you on that. What Im getting at is that African Americans take a sense of pride in anything that portrays the stereotyped hood life and they're reasons for justifying it.

They live in the projects cause white people are trying to keep them poor!
He deals drugs, but its ok cause he needs to make that money!
We roll in gangs cause thats what hip hop tells us is cool!
Hey man, Im from Detroit! North side, represent!

The same can be said for New Jack City. The movie is about a drug dealer who killed his best friend over a loan. Instead of blacks learning a lesson that drugs will turn your life upside down, they instead go out and do the same thing and make fucking rap songs about it.

Michael Jackson's This is it
Never been a huge fan of MJ, even though I know his classics, obviously. This movie is a well paced collection of footage showing how his last show, that he couldn't offer to the world for the reasons we know, would have been.
A nice watch, reviving nice memories.
Grade : 7/10

Death Proof
I'm slowly helping my girlfriend catch up on all of Tarantino's movies. Only Kill Bill 1&2 are missing now. This movie from Grindhouse is a great tribute to the old slasher movies, with great dialogues and actors, as usual. I can never get enough of it.
Grade : 7/10 (personal grade : 8.5/10)

African Cats
A Disney documentary about Lions and cheetahs. They put up a nice "story" for the whole movie, and it's entertaining, has very nice visuals as well as teaching us many things about these animals. It's as good as the BBC Nature's Greatest Events and other types of documentaries.
Grade : 7/10

Bad Teacher
One word : stupid! So stupid you can't do anything else than laugh at times, but really, it's a bad movie. Don't watch it, even if you like Cameron Diaz or Justin Timberlake.
Grade : 3/10

Transformers 3
I was surprised, I was waiting for much worst. The story is actually cool and well paced, even though it's quite basic. Very nice animations and special effects. Definitely one of Michael Bay's best movies. :)
Grade : 6/10

X-Men, First Class
A movie showing how Professor X first created the X-Men. Very good plot, nicely showing how everybody comes into place and how Magneto became ... Magneto.
Grade : 7/10

Hanna
Story about a girl that has been raised in the forst by her farther in order to become a killer. She's sent on a mission and discovers life. Plot is quite basic and predictable, and the movie isn't very impressive. Not bad, not good, just very average.
Grade : 5/10

Equilibrium
Story takes place in the future, after WW3. People all take shots to anihilate there emotions, because hatred is what almost killed all humans. The Tetra Gramaton are in charge of checking everybody took their shots, and kills all the rebels. But one day, the most powerful of them becomes a rebel too. Low budget movie, but with a very good plot. Often considered as the "Matrix for Poor people" because of its action scene, I believe this movie is much more than that.
Grade : 8/10

Transformers 3: Dark of the Moon

Spoiler, click to toggle visibilty
Just came back from watching X-Men: First Class.

Great movie. I don't think an X-Men Origins: Magneto is needed after this one. I'm pretty much satisfied with the whole Xavier/Magneto friendship storyline thing.

TF3 - 3/10

First Class - 9/10

Fair enough. Seeing your smiley, I was afraid you were going to give X-Men a 4/10 and TF3 a 9/10. :P

Anyway, I still think TF3 is watchable.
As for X-Men, the movie is cool and all, but for a comics based movie to reach 9/10, it has to be something like the Dark Knight for me.

And don't bash movies that start with a girl's ass walking. That's the first scene of Death Proof too. >:(
