The return of electbyte is awesome, especially love the new resolutions. The only downside for me are for all these 3-d illusion stages, wont work and will have to be edited now...  :bigcry:
It should be possible to edit them to still work at 640x480 shouldn't it?  I guess it means remaking them for each resolution though (actually that's not possible as any resolution is now possible, it seems!)

this could be awesome  :) might do some 1920x1200 stages . ::)
omg filesize.

Hehe, and with the new color pallette it might be even bigger  ;)  I probably won't be making anymore stages untill this new engine is perfected...
The new SFF format will apparently support compression, so perhaps once that's implemented...
There's also talk of 24-bit colour support, so no more palette issues!

Tell me, has anyone with a hires stage (i have none at ALL) tried applying the

;Width and height of the local coordinate space of the stage.
localcoord = 1280, 720

bit to them?

You might need to up your zoffset as well by the looks of things.

I mean, if i set localcoord to 640x480 in a character it halves the size. If i set it to 320x240 it's normal, should be the same for stages yes?

In M.U.G.E.N there is no magic button

They say a little knowledge is a dangerous thing, but it's not one half so bad as a lot of ignorance.

It's not really a bad idea, I'm sure many like it, but I personally don't care much for it.

I actually agree here. I could care less about this little quote system, all I care about is more coding functionality, especially in the areas that, while coding, have made me go "RAAAAAAAAGHHHHHHHH MUGEN LIMITATIONSSSSSSS"
Hum... which kind of areas?

*takes out notepad, ready to add stuff to the suggestion list everyone hates him for*

Mostly just the stuff from my lifebars suggestions thread. You can add the stuff from that thread on the ebyte forums to your list if you want to in a Lifebars section or something.

BTW just tested putting the winquote parameter in the previous build of MUGEN and there aren't any shutdowns, so assuming people aren't using the Victoryquote Sctrl for character-specific winquotes, if people have reservations about putting them in their characters, they shouldn't.

but now, all of our knowlage of old mugen will be obsolete! :S
how
Not at all, and BTW, Ive tested mugen on another SO that is not listed, so I guess that the real reqs are:

Operating System: Microsoft Windows 2000/XP.  Should work on
Windows Vista and Windows 7.  Not yet tested on 64-bit installations.

CPU: Pentium III 800 Mhz or higher recommended for HD resolutions.

Memory: 256 MB or more (actual requirements may vary based on
character and stage complexities).

Yes is lower, may change if in your PC with lowers specs can run it as well, I think they exaggerate a bit with this.

Man, with the return of Elecbyte, the community has shown itself a new level of stupidity. :/
Don't be so rude man! You will break some hearts... ¬¬

Seriously... I think that we are getting a lil' of nonsense in every thread that is related to this new version... and is not new... everytime I see this forum I see flame wars, claims, insults, and so on... Is incredible that just a lil' hobby like mugen do this to the people... c'mon, everyone here (including me) has a real life, why don't we act as adults? Is quite simple...

BTW Nice to see you here again!!! :D

Stop judging a book by its cover and look at these.

I really like the MUGEN, a pity that it has some annoying bugs and it still has the old options screen...

You should thank that you can use a higher resolution on that instead of the old hi res hack that only allowed 320x240... any other stuff can be changed... what about your imagination?

See ya!!! :D

Has anyone suggested to ElecByte to implement the MP3 Volume configuration in the options screen? That's one thing I hated about the old mugen is all the characters are way too loud compared to my BGM.

You might need to up your zoffset as well by the looks of things.

You use localcoord to tell it what resolution the stage was designed for, and Mugen then uses that info to scale everything for the resolution currently in use.  So for hi-res stages you set this to 640x480.

You need to adjust a bunch of params - zoffset is one - the biggest job is the deltas, velocities etc of the BG elements.  The reason (if I understand correctly) is that in order for these stages to work in WinMugen Plus, these values had to be doubled as the engine would halve them automatically.  The new version doesn't do this, so the values in question need to be manually halved (in effect, put back to their correct values).  KFM Mr RandomSelect posted full details at elecbyte's forum, although there are still details he's yet to fully iron out.

Basically yes... this thing works more or less like the old hack if HIRes = 1 in the stage definition, but the advantage is that you can customize it, so if you do a HD stage, you set that value, if it is Hi Res, use 640, 480... and so on...

See ya!!! :D
