I have the idea of createing a original character for Mugen but the problem is I know nothing. I have read tutorials over and over but they always come off not being literal enough or making no sense. All I have is this http://fc01.deviantart.com/fs30/f/2008/090/e/7/e7dc6f8e10aa1544.jpg as a start. I know it could look better but im am glad if anyone is willing teach me how to make it look better. Also who knows how to animate sprites? and how would I get him at least moving.

People will probably point out anatomy and shading.I myself, have never really been a master of shading, but I'm sure someone will be able to give you some pointers.Once you've finished your sprite, one of the first steps will be to make a palette. As for tutorials, youtube has several, there are several on this site, and I believe Cyanide had a good one. Correct me if I'm wrong.Looking at the image, I am guessing you are planning to make a hand drawn character. The process can be long and tedious, I hope you are prepared.Anyways, good luck.
thank you ^^ and what the heck is a palette? Also I have graphics gale to make the GIFand does fighter factory make palettes?

Dude....... Get Fighter Factory here: http://virtualltek.mgbr.net/inicial.php?page=indexGet Mugen Character Maker(M.C.M.) here: http://randomselect.piiym.net/On the left click download tools. M.U.G.E.N Creation Suites >>>> M.C.M.Open your mugen folder and then open the docs folder. Open the tutorial folder. You should see tutorial 1-4 htmls. The first tutorial explains how to make a palette.I use photoshop. Since you don't have it, use Gimp.http://www.gimp.org/Ok, the first thing you need to do is save your images in the .PNG format. .JPG screws up the image. Here's how to convert your images to 256 color .pcx files with Gimp.Start Gimp. Drag and drop your sprite into Gimp. Crop that wolf sprite because it's too big. Or crop it later in Fighter Factory. At the top, go to image >>>> mode >>>> indexed. With these settings, select convert. At the top, select colors >>> map >>> Rearrange color map. Find the background color and drag and drop it into the first position.Select ok. Now go to file >>> Save as. Select File type = ZSoft PCX image. Now save.To easily test this sprite to see if it's good for mugen, open Mugen Character Maker. Click add sprite which is the first box under the word edit. Find the .pcx sprite that you just created. Now select Transparency. The background should disappear. As you can see, that .jpg image that was used really messed this S*** up. Use the .png format for your sprites before you convert them into the .pcx format.
