Title: S. Jetstream stuff
Post by: S. Jetstream on August 20, 2015, 08:09:46 pm
Hi MFG, I thought this could be a great idea, posting stuff and improvements even though im not so active these days. Anyway i'll show old sprites and reworks of them, edits and conversions. It won't be the trending topic but meh  ¬_¬

Oh... And i prefer CVS style mainly, btw. For all for you guys that told me about it, i'm working in that muscle definition! I'll post some Sagat ideas too.

Old stuff, i wanna thanks Alex Sinigaglia for his corrections and feedback

By now i'm working on this: Yeah my profile pic, the original sprite was in tumblr

Jetstream's legs seem really short, I think you need to move them 2 pixels down to make him taller. Other than that, it's pretty much my fave sprite as of now (Metal Gear Rising ftw :XD:)

Post by: S. Jetstream on September 12, 2015, 05:01:37 pm
Yeah i didn't really dig in it, i gotta check his legs :P

I fixed the hand problem. I suppose its faster to CS the hair, then hands, then the shoes(whole sprites)

It was Hh's sff. I borrowed it to save time.

Well i hope someone will take this char again and fix the palette cuz everytime i add a different sprite with a new palette the FF doesn't let me use the remap pen. Even when all the sprites use a single palette  :bigcry:
There are some moves which are not included(Buckus SF4 sprites) maybe some coder...

Showing some progress of the first coming(hair). Second coming will be hands, the third shoes. And... maybe a fourth for the chains

I literally ran into the same problem trying to add the sprites to him. Where you able to CS the moves he had made? I also have his last dread dust(Ultra 2) with pipe sprites if you plan to add them as well. Good luck with this!

Pretty good so far. Maybe separate the white stripes OR the chains, because IIRC they share colors.

EDIT: Just checked, yes the white stripes and the chains do share colors. I think separating one of them would be good enough. It's up to you though. You could separate the lower body as well instead of those, but again, up to you.

EDIT 2: Here's an idea of how a SFA3 Cody CS could look like:

Took me three minutes with Photoshop's layer capabilities. I was able to separate the pants and the stripes from the chains. All stripes are different colors, they share nothing. That's what I think a complete CS would be. But again, its up to you.

Of course is not the final look, i'm gonna fix Jetstream and then do a new Haohmaru sprite
Title: Re: Shao Spritesmith
Post by: hatter on February 06, 2016, 04:44:05 am
Like I said long ago, his torso is bigger than his legs, you should make the legs a bit taller, vertically.

Pecs lack depth. Lower the brightness a bit.

Remove the outlines on Jetstream's blade, it makes it look ugly.

Abs lack depth. Look at Haohmaru (or Joe Higashi/Sagat), and try to make it look like that.

Other than that, it's mighty fine. ;)

Sam is just a reference sprite man, i haven't touched it since the last sprite you've seen.

I meant you to check Haohmaru's naked body first. Sure his legs have to be a bit longer.

Go and play Capoeira Fighter 3 on any webpage!!
Title: Re: Shao Spritesmith
Post by: hatter on February 06, 2016, 05:33:49 am
Ooops.

Well, I guess the abs shouldn't look like how they look. I know I said look at Haohmaru when I was critiquing Jetstream, but I realized I made a mistake, so just look at Joe Higashi and try to make it look similar.

Break the outer lines of the legs. Same goes for pecs, and the pecs need to be fixed. The first part of it (for covered Haohmaru) was already good, you should have followed suit. Try to do it the pecs again. It shouldn't be hard to redo.

Yes it's kinda fast to CS because i separate more or less 80 sprites on a long day(now i'm on holidays yass). First separate 80 sprites of legs, then feet, then hands, then arms, and at last the body(it takes a minutes actually). Tomorrow the specials and friday the gethits!!

Regardless of Geese and Terry(neither i knew there were CS) i think Kyosuke could be next. Thanks @walruslui: i guess the most suitable char is Lost_Avenger's isn't it? I'm not liking that messy palette tho.

Thanks guys.

I was thinking in an university professor's jacket. Leather elbow pads :P

Glasses, neck jacket, and collor?

While I was working on Joe i found some blurred sprites, so... EX TNT PUNCH is being edited.

Next project is here!! I made a very special present for you guys so check the palette with any GIF viewer  :pleased:

If you didn't chek it:
Spoiler, click to toggle visibilty

I have to say this is going to take a lot more time, due to the full separation and changing the whole palette to every single sprite, besides i'm starting college in a few days  :cry2: Anyways i'll do my best and finish this the way we all want.

They aren't breathing, it's just the edited sprited, his legs there were skinnier than the whole spritesheet.
And by "blurred" i meant that some sprites(TNT Punch) weren't clean at all(pecs, arms, size).

Here's some progress on Kyosuke:

Eagle is tecnically done. Poll added. You decide!!

370 sprites done. less than 100 to go.

If the beard ends up to be made, would you guys find it already too crazy to add 2 more rounds of colors just so it can somewhat resemble his Mr. Karate II look?

Plus: that beard has given me an idea.

IMO, he would be even better with slightly bigger torso and bigger arms. Lower body and head are OK.

I took both of your ideas, but i gotta say that your antialiasing doesn't seems to fit with the character, (don't take me wrong)it's way too detailed but thank you anyway.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm planning to release Ryo as soon as possible, but with 3 updates, first i'll release him with the fingers cs, secondly the feet and at last the beard and biceps. Opinions?

I came back to the forum to see what happend after all these months. I've started college and i lost most of my spare-time, even tho I still enjoy watching what's new.
Here's the last sprites i've worked on. I kinda practiced a lot and made most of them in 1-2 days. I will continue revamping all my previous posts and by now, I truly believe i've learned from all the feedback this community gave me.

Those are some really well-made CVS sprites (that Nash is superb) but I feel like that Oni could use some tweaking on his anatomy/muscle definition/face. Do you mind if I give it a try?

Feel free to use it or ignore it. Anyway, keep it up.

You mean sth like the one CVS the abstract was doing? I'm currently not working on commissions but maybe in a future.

That's quite a good shot, but it kinda resembles SFA style, I'll try to mix it a bit. Thanks, I appreciate it

Well, the problems with the head are pin-pointable, especially comparing to the left sprite:
-Make the forehead bigger (or, basically, delete some hair from there).
-You don't need the cheekbones to be THAT noticeable. Add some lightning to his cheeks.
-The shape of the head looks weird too. It looks too... square, I dunno? You need to make his head more round AND to put his face slightly forward (In fact, I'd say you need to make it more diagonal, from forehead where it is to chin being tilted forward).
Overall not a bad sprite!
