sometime it is just because the way you dress or carry yourself too, if you bulk up and dressed in hoodie hands in the pockets and behave to look menacing, streetpunks might leave you alone but cops might be alerted by you, if you dress like a rich dude cops will leave you alone, and streetpunks and robbers will bother you.

fitted jeans and tucked shirt probably the safest most neutral way of dressing, people won't assume you to be anything.

I once followed, overtaken on both sides then stopped by 2 cops on motorcycle and led to nearby police post  while riding home on my bike from campus (late 90 or early 00) because I wear black full face helmet with black visor, and black leather jacket zipped up on a red bike, no other reason just because I stood out color wise at that time from the rest of the traffic, got to pay small fine for the way I installed the front license plate(=cop losing face money)

I still wear the same when on bike but the rest of the traffic here now have dressed pretty close so I don't get stopped anymore, I never fixed the way I installed the front license plate on my motorcycle since it is the most ideal way on sport bike type, never have any problem regarding that with other police encounters.

it happened in california before during oj simpson trial. and it happened a couple years back too.

did they published the autopsy yet?

I'm not saying it's enough. I'm saying it was inevitable.

riots and protests are a joke anyway.  you'd see a rival political group would swoop in provoke and use the people to gain leverage. i've seen this time and time again from different countries. same shit , if they truly wanted justice for the man they would've gotten into court and do a proper investigation. support his family , and get the men responsible for his death.

totally agree, I feel most of them just blowing off their steam from their own stress most likely got to do with corona and it's impact,  than the racism alone.

then rivals politician riding on it, vandals and criminals partying in it, media blow air on it and flavor it with bombastic headlines

but cant the action be done through social media alone, your country is a giant red zone of virus pandemic. why now why on the street? its inevitable when mob gathering on the street it would be infiltrated by people who just want to break and steal stuff, and once the first few started it, then the rest will follow,  it sucks too for business owners to be looted after a long time no sales.  some 20 yrs back it happened here, I saw on TV our capital was ransacked, mall burned, children laughing carrying TV or other thing as if all normal and acceptable, and then supposedly rich minority get robbed, burglarized, raped, and killed by frenzy mob, and the country forgets. Im a minority in my country just lucky I live in relatively timid small town, and my family is not rich, but I was afraid angry mob would stop me on the street, lucky it was different time, before social media so the hype don't really reach small town like ours.

all sounds understandable if the looters are looting for food and basic necessities, and not some random boutique shit.  due to social media and mimicry mentality the same protest is exported to other countries too why do Indonesian celebrities care about a black dude killed by a white cop on the otherside of the planet. what the hell mankind, why cant people mimic better thing like wearing mask in public or staying at home whenever possible.
I have lived through riot, and looting, killing and raping of the minority here some 22 yrs ago, i hope this won't give idea to some people with political ambition to make up stuff riding the hype to destabilize post pandemic government in other nations

today I went out to go buy some brown sugar and snacks on specialty shop their parking was full, and so I parked a bit far, and peek the shop was stuffed with people, so I walked back to my car, but decided police station is close enough I would walk there to collect my paper of the car that should have been collected on february but corona was on the headline then and so I postponed till now, the office was closed too... so annoying, nothing went right, so I drove home, along the way I realized today business were all open, beauty clinique, hair salon, cafe, and all well attended, and what a busy traffic too, if not for the mask I would have thought I entered a different dimension where virus pandemic doesn't happen.

seems like our government is set on New Normal since the word is a current trending hype despite our condition here is still dubious, since the test is way too few to give real figure of the status, I don't know what makes them so confident, I live in small city, and the province capital nearby just had their highest peak of daily new case few days ago as 80% of the subjects tested showed positive, if the transportation between cities are all set to open, then I imagine our cases will rise too, maybe they just don't care anymore about local condition, since most other countries are starting up the we just do the same, decide economic pressure and popularity in the eyes of public as higher priority.

starting today in my town or the whole city district area the self distancing and regulation goes up a notch higher, all mall are closed, except for supermarket which only open until 9, citizen can not be on the street after 9, neighborhood gate are still closed with centralized entrance and monitored with temp detector, sanitizer and stuff, not much day to day control I don't know how well it would be followed but that's the rule

incoming muslim holiday is next week, what I hear they didn't cancel the mass gathering for praying etc. so far what I see mosque are still in full operation  the guy who make me leather jacket go to mosque every single day so I wear mask, and sanitize my hands whenever I visit there to try on the jacket in progress, churches and other religion worship places are closed we do online video,

since muslim is 90+ % of the population here, and lets say half of 90% are males and lets say half of the males go to mosque everyday 27% of the population congregate daily to worship I dunno how effective it would be, sure they should have temp gun and quick test or whatever who will follow that procedure in real world operation the building doesn't even have a door people are just rushing in from all directions, everyday at noon and twilight,
the right to worship and practicing own religion is protected by law, and government cant really force to close any acknowledged religious places of worship like mosque, temple or church, however most minor religions are self closing their operation to support the cause by doing online, apparently the single major religion don't follow the same idea.

so I guess new cases peak is still yet to come here in my country indonesia

just finished my first weekly guard duty, 2 hours manning the neighborhood gate, it was busy with food deliveries, its a bit ridiculous, rather than we stop take temperature, lift the portal close it lift it again on the way back since it was dinner time it got quite busy,  it is much easier and less exposure if the resident who order it would come down to the security post to take their food.

I wear respirator, not talking to anybody just standing there for 2 hours lifting and pulling down the blockade bar, I let the security guard to talk and check the temp of the visitors, the other guy I got paired with was a lazy ass youngster, he was just sitting there with his mask down his chin, and there was another busy body older guy who like to hangaround & chat, and brag about his knowabout local theft circles in the neighborhood, there is always bragging guy like that in every neighborhood, he was not supposed to be in the security post but he came and hang around of course not wearing mask, smoke and cough, and spit, I hate such people.

Anyone who has spoken to me on Discord and/or has followed my Twitter probably already knows this, but seeing as I didn't mention it here yet, I might as well; I tested positive for the coronavirus during the last week of March and was pretty much bedridden for almost 3 weeks.

The last two weeks weren't that bad, but the first week was hell; constantly fluctuating fever, chills, loss of appetite, elevated blood pressure, dizziness & nonstop coughing fits from doing things as simple as standing up, and night sweats that left me dehydrated; due to the latter I had to constantly drink fluids, but because of the loss of appetite I had to drink Gatorade just to replenish whatever nutrients were lost. Once the fever broke and stayed that way for a few days, things started getting better for me for the next 2 weeks, but the cough & shortness of breath mostly remained.

Fortunately I'm back on my feet and things are much better now, but I figured people here would be interested to hear a first-hand account from someone who had it.

glad you passed it, do you have another family member also affected by the illness? how did you get it?
damn I hope I never get infected, living with only my cat pet, if I get to be sent to hospital my cat would be starved for sure, yesterday I saw a long haired cat looked dirty and matted in front of a restaurant parking lot, I think the owner set it free when they are sent to hospital or the owner died  :'(

hope you are safe [E] seems mexico have plenty of new cases last few weeks, new cases in my country indonesia is slowing a bit, but in my city area is getting real, vegetable sellers infected, so while before it only reach people who travel abroad, or extremist who insist on doing religious gathering, university students, etc.  now it gets into everyday people, death toll is still the highest here in southest asia, we are in the poorest recovery rate with 8% mortality rate so far way a lot lower than comparable countries like malaysia, vietnam, thailand, and philipines.

so now every thursday I have a responsibility to help guard the neighborhood entrance for 2 hours 6-8PM, not so bad, but perhaps we have to stop and check many food delivery couriers since it is dinner time.

so I got picked to do weekly security duty for 2 hours from 8-10 in the evening to help the guard checking vehicles going in and out our neighborhood gate...

since apparently I'm seen as a youngster (low risk person) with nothing to do at home, just hoping the other real youngsters don't give bullshit excuses and got me double weekly shifts since 42 is not a youngster by age and got many pages to draw.   :thinking2:

despite decline in new cases, here neighborhood lockdown is applied starting tomorrow, limited access to neighborhood area, closed gate, ID card checked and non resident access limited, temperature checked, mask has to be worn, vehicle get sprayed by disinfectant whatever the purpose of it even shopping from home become a difficulty I guess if their delivery is not allowed entry. Dunno how it applies, I think some adjustments are to follow once in effect.

since yesterday the traffic is very low here, I went groceries shopping yesterday wearing industrial respirator, got everything I need, paid all the bills at the ATM, got drinking bottle too so I'm good for a week or two not going out.
cases still rising up here in my country now at 300-400 new cases a day, these last 2 days we have no rain so probably soon it will be over as dry season starts.

in the middle of increasing virus cases or city mayor starts the project to build new office right in the city center because it is planned to finish by the end of this year, so construction workers working together the whole day eat and drink together right in the city center how nice. oh they wear surgical mask so it stops virus right hahah, who cares the mayor thinks I got my commission, after this post done i get promotion or get a better post elsewhere. and of course a volcano errupts too just for kicks.  :P

today I was paranoid enough to finally buy a respirator with cartridge, so far I ve been wearing homemade cotton fabrics mask I can't breathe well in it, after minutes of wearing it becomes wet from my own respiratory and so get heavier to breathe with and fogs my glasses, also I was spraying ants while in cotton mask and I can smell the pesticide so aerosol droplets pass through it,

also because tested positive local cases in my city jumps from previously 4 to19 ( thats only ones that are tested) our country is still one of the least tested population so all the figures really sketchy and doesn't represent the real situation in my opinion, and also by realization how people here in my city despite road access being still closed here and there, are back on the road and gathers in public places like restaurants are back in business probably feeling bored by social distancing.

industrial style respirator is still reasonably cheap compared to disposable medical style n95 probably people don't want to look too weird in it, in proportion those disposable n95 ones are so popular they are priced 10x over their normal price and only 1/3 the price of industrial respirator with replaceable cannisters/ cartridge that surely will outperform them and a lot cheaper in the long run. I will just wear the cotton mask over the respirator to make it look more civil.
