You know, that also fits with how cartoony alpha sprites are (Y)

Just messed about with Shin Akuma and he is bonkers :D
He's very fun, a suggestion I have is, why not let him chain those two  (Close HK) and (Fwd MP) so he can then link lets say to a tatsu and start the shenanigans all over again.

One more thing I noticed with Vega, when he does hes level 1 right before the last hit a spark or a dust cloud is being placed in the wrong place, im guessing its used where the body lands, check the floor on the left.

Edit more Vega stuff,

Here I am trying to roll in the opposite direction but Vega just does not want to do it most of the time, so im doing the sweep on the left side, im trying to roll to the right but he goes back to the left.

Mugen version of Vega does not even want to roll half the time, he just does an standing HP or HK, when he rolls he also does it in the wrong direction.

Fucking hell, you're right, Im stupid, on mugen I was using 1280 x 960, I assumed I was using 1280x1024.

Ofc I tested it, and mugen cuts the image on the bottom on that res.

Let me edit my comment so I don't confuse the devs.

After playing a bit more with the latest version of Ikemen and switching back and forth from Mugen this is what I can report, please excuse me if it was already reported.

The engine itself.
Sound feels I dont know how to put it but lower quality or scratchy compared to mugen also something is going on with Vsync when you have it disabled or enabled, somehow it feels smoother when its ON which is mad to me, as every game I play on PC I remove the Vsync and I can tell the difference asap that it feels snappier, im speaking for FPS and stuff as for inputs I need more time with Ikemen.

Annoying thing is, because of my lack of knowledge, if you were to ask me which is smoother, I would say mugen.

Also not sure if its me, or my setup but Ikemen can be optimized a bit better, it should not be as heavy as it is, and im running a 3060 TI with I forgot what was my CPU but it is a good CPU.

Things I noticed that are not scalling correctly (I guess) when comparing to Mugen.

I know its not fair to expect everything to be 1 to 1, but mugen would scale that hyper BG correctly, this happenes only when using higher resolutions.
Screenshot was taken with 1280x1024 no zoom or localcoords have been used here, just vanilla out of the box Ikemen.



Thank you for putting all this effort into the engine, when I opened the select def all the options I had there to tweak everything how I want was just awesome.

These updates are dope man jeez.

What I noticed so far

Cammy

I really dig the new animations, however I would suggest using a stretchy sound and not a "woosh" for her taunt.
Maybe the sound Rock uses while pulling on his gloves ? something like that.
Other than that she feels great, inputs work as they should, smooth as silk.

Dan
With Dan when I try to roll sometimes I get a standing HK or HP, I played a couple of matches VS the AI and only Dan seems to have that issue, I tried with Cammy  and she was rolling no issues.

Vega
Damn do I dig the updates with the EX attacks, I love the fact that I can follow up the EX Scissor kicks with a level 1.
However, I noticed that with the EX projectiles he has not the hyper one the normal ones, he can abuse those a tad bit, using the EX one with the normal ones can cause a wall, yeah I know they are easy to punish if you are close to him however he can do some insane setup, I would suggest when the EX one is out, he should not be able to fire another one until that explodes.

Edit, I just noticed those projectiles go through you before they explode, I assumed that they will hit you, but still I feel they can be tweaked a tad bit.
When you do the EX one if you have bar ofc, you can then cover your butt with the medium or short one.

Guy
Seems fine to me, I can land most anything, only thing I can nitpick on him is that most of your chars have a doge, but he does not, with how speedy he is I miss it.

This is what I tested so far, I really dig those updates, and will go through the rest of the cast.

Thank you for actually going ahead and implementing those, I am downloading Ikemen right now, so I will go over pretty much every char.

Currently im looking at the mugen docs and the ikemen docs to port the screenpack I want to use for ikemen and I am interested in that buffer system that Extra mentioned if its that easy to switch id rather switch now cause some of my chars dont have a buffer system.

You bet im gonna try the chars out, thanks again.

Ive noticed while fighting PotS's Dictator that when using a char that uses Tiny Buffering for example I used DW's Akuma, when switching sides so fast  and you double-tap to run, Akuma in this case just did not want to run, it was like a 50/50.

It was depended if I rolled beforehand as well, sometimes after a roll the run wont come out, which got me hit.
I also never caught this before to report it to DW as I had a faulty keyboard and was thinking it was my KB rather then the char.

I really hope for Ikemen to set the standard for inputs and to be one universal system, its going to be easier for everyone from coders to players and to people that tend to provide feedback.

From all the buffering systems that I have played so far, I feel explod is the closest to I guess arcade or PC releases, I am not yet used to PotS's new system but everything comes out as it should from what ive tested.

Sadly my understanding aint even close to provide more detailed feedback but when I play I do tend to notice when inputs are being dropped lets say and I try to report as much as I can.

None of that is final, his voice is even still Kyo's! And the missing comedic pratfall sound is sorely missed, but it'll be in the final version!

Don't you think im aware its actually Kyo's voice after all the back and forth we had on stances, hypers etc :P
While you're at it with Kyo, stop being boring and actually give him his cool neomax instead of that boring grab whatever :P

Correct me if I am wrong but both Kyo and Ex Kyo have the same level 3 with the convoluted command and the pitiful grab distance, it is time Jman :D

Hi Karma,

One thing I noticed while learning to play the Lee brothers both in mugen and in USF4 is that they have a height restriction on their dive kick.

Your Yun and Yang can do the dive kick pretty much when they are right next to the ground when jumping right before landing, in USF4 they cant do it so close to the ground and I feel its worth reporting.

Checked on Gouken as well, he can chain his crouching low punch to his crouching low kick, which I cant do with yours, not sure if its something on my end but what I can say is that I cant land it consistently.

The reason I bring it up again is because when those two chain, it allows easier access to lets say an EX tatsu afterwards or something like that.

Hi PotS, thanks for the consistent updates lad.

Also, I know I reported this and you gave me a pretty good explanation to why its happening but is there a way to mitigate this ?
Problem is the Super Hadouken connecting when its not supposed to I guess, or maybe just tweak it so all hits connect ?



Edit: One more thing about Ryu.

He leaves Victory's Sean hanging :P  I cant even remember if this intro was actually a thing in 3s
Also, Dictator delays his intro vs Rugal in CVS2 and waits for the panther to grow at him, your Dictator just goes ahead, which is nitpicking at this point but hey.

Ugh, what ? my point was if a char has an AI I feel its easier when using debug instead or Arcade.
If the char has no AI it will not do anything in both.

I was playing with Karma's Q in Arcade earlier and Ken was tough, granted im shite with Q but in debug hes mostly sitting there drooling.

If you are using photoshop, when you apply the glow to the p1 or p2 render create an empty layer above them and just merge them.
Then do the inverse select thing and just delete the glow.
