I mean you could have just pointed to the mech anime video game point of the Toy Story world in Kingdom Hearts III that already happened.

Which you must know of.  Of course you must.  Because who else is obsessed with mechs?  Rex from Toy Story.  Which must mean you must be Rex from Toy Story's Heartless.

As I always suspected.

Games take their time to develop.  There's only so much discussion to be had.  The main story is complete.  Things set up from KH1 are concluded in KH3 for the most part.  Going forward is likewise hard to discuss given the topic at hand is typically esoteric as Nomura is want to do.

Spoiler: KH3 + ReMind + Melody of Memories spoilers (click to see content)

There was plenty to talk about between prior games because they were steadily coming out fast enough and left freaking out of left field clues all over the place seemingly not connected to anything.  Like random bonus cutscens of Xemnas having personal time locked up in a basement talking to a suit of armor.  Or all the pre-rendered post-credit cutscenes that without context seemed to be completely unrelated.  By 2005, you could have been caught up on every feesable scrap of information there was and this would still slap you upside the head with no idea how to explain its relation to KH going forward.

So in short, it's not dead.  Just finished it intended run.  There were mysteries to solve that had actual answers.  They're answered now.  Wait some time before the next cycle.

(...and also my bias against the fucking white privileges :x overly handsome teenagers trope getting the larger spotlights, as always.)
Literally what?  What are you on about?  Didn't we go through the whole "Anime characters are not white" debacle years ago with that awful Hollywood GitS rendition?  Sora's as dopey Japanese as you can get out of a JRPG star.  From the goofy hair made fun off numerous times in the games to the island life to his freaking name.  What does this have to do with Sora and Kingdom Hearts?

And likewise;
What is the point of this post? It has nothing to do with Smash and the game itself turned out to be pretty janky. It's not the Smash killer that it's completely overhyped to be.
Huh?  No one outside disillusioned Smash pro YouTube channels are even talking about the game, and they're not even considering the thought.  Not at all even the developers, that is not their goal at all to dethrone Smash Bros. but to make a Melee supplement since Nintendo isn't interested in keeping that scene alive.  Beyond that the developers are just Garfield-obsessed memelords.

I can't imagine anyone could even muster disappointment after the legal impossibilities this character's inclusion must have meant, to satisfy the actual legitimate majority of the fanbase, but sometimes one forgets how much personal preference clouds one's perception.   Have it happen plenty to me as well.  But Kingdom Hearts is somewhere in that top 5 game series ever category and personal minute gripes I can find are completely overshadowed by the fact that Sora at all is in the game.  This is how you do a polar opposite of Byleth.

THAT ALL SAID.....those minute details make me point out that as many hoops were jumped through to get as much as they did, I see Utada was not a part of the deal and there's no main themes.  On the one hand, shame, but on the other, Sonic stages and Warioware's Ashley song have made it abundantly clear lyrical songs don't mesh as well while actually fighting.  And I'm a bit surprised that the character is super heavily based on KH1 alone for the movepool.  No keyblade swapping or form changes or flowmotion or any of all that fun stuff.  Which is probably fine as to not overpower the character with options but still.

Anyways, non-Sora stuff.  What was the deal with that Dark Souls fake-out?  The Sora connection made more sense after being explained the fire was the "Light that never goes out", but that was a near shot-for-shot recreation of a bonfire kindling from Dark Souls and by all means looked like we were getting the Chosen Undead until Mario just chucked the firepit.  And Doomguy's here as well.  Neat.  Face covering Mii outfits look SO much better than those that don't, and this continues that trend.  Another one I might pick up just because.  And I guess nice bone toss for Octoling fans that were still holding out after the Octo Expansion.  Next Smash game, guys.

Huh.  Not that it matters at all in the joke episode like this, but that is weird.  The blue guy he was voicing in Justice Friends wasn't portraying Hulk Hogan as in the wrestling persona.  It was a parody.  A bit different than the other joke episode with Chuck Norris using the animated show about him specifically.

Mostly it's weird because I'm absolutely sure without having to go over every Hulk Hogan parody out there over the many years that they contradict each other in some way.

But like I said, it doesn't really matter so whatever makes it funnier I suppose.

I thought something was wrong with that model's face when I saw the trailer, but I only had my phone to view it at the time.  I know exactly what they're referencing, but it doesn't really match his silly expression from the show doing that marble trick, not even the repeat cameo in Legend of Korra.  I mean, I guess it's just a taunt, not that big a deal, but man that did turn out weird looking in practice.

Anyways, pleasantly surprised both Korra and Toph look like fun characters I'd actually like to play as, rather than my habit of wanting to play characters that I'm either not good at or aren't all that viable to begin with.  Cool.  I am surprised Aang has the flight stick in his movepool.  Not because it's something out of character for him, in fact it makes more sense to have it than not, but it's already a stage background material.  I don't recall any being left around the airbender temples after they were all killed, but maybe I'm just recalling wrong after not seeing the show in years.

Not really feeling Aang's gameplay from the showcase alone, honestly.  Maybe he'll do better when played rather than watched.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was Cinderace, but I've noticed the Pokemon Company has been a lot less aggressive advertising gen 8 with it as its mascot than they were with Greninja in gen 6.  Even with getting some of the handful more detailed animations in the game over others, it then kinda just fell off the map.  It's not even the new thing they gave Ash in the t.v. show from what I hear, it went to that Pokemon Go representative new partner, yeah?

Like, it's still the company's favorite of the starters but it just hasn't been as shoved in your face this time around.  By this point it's kind of an afterthought to gen 8 as a whole.

Various series that deal with space travel and superpower antics have their own stipulations on how the universe works.  Many of them needlessly more complicated than need to be, but hey.  It just makes using the term "universe" unhelpful because it becomes an undefined term.  Dragon Ball's "Universe 7" for example isn't 9 times bigger than the degree we know our own.  It's the same size, plus 8 more layers of other realms.  The Beerus feet is only ever notable in that case because it gave visible notice to be affecting all of them at once.

In D.C.'s case, it's just that they run on the assumption that the universe has a finite end (I actually don't know the nitty gritty on their specification.  Do D.C. writers follow the endless expansion theory, the receding into nothingness one or the endless loop of Big Bangs?) but they've explored space so clearly they've reached its two end points and its X much greater than what we in reality know.

Some cases Death Battle takes these into account, some not, depends on how much its covered in the series itself and how well the topic is researched.  The Sailor Galaxia episode still bugs me as example because the series takes many strides to define their weird universe of being not expanding but infinite in all means and each individual star seed has a universe unto itself, but Death Battle took it as that series has essentially just our own universal scale and the changes are just ignorable anomalies.  Bleach would be one that would likely be assumed has a different universal scale, just not well defined because it's various planes of the afterlife that co-exist as another layer on top of the living.

Okay....?  And you're reaching assuming that's the only possible reason people might want him.

Have you considered perhaps people have opinions other than yours?  Maybe people like characters you don't?

No one's obligated to like the main character best, but nothing's stopping them either.  My favorite character from Kingdom Hearts is Xion because it reminds me of Evangelion's Rei.  But I still find Sora is still the best choice in Smash.

Yeah, that threw me off for about 2 or so weeks as well once I heard of it again after first being shown off and that was clarified.  That's a super effeminate looking guy.  Yeah, anime and all, but the face is straight-up just a standard anime girl design, mixed with the long hair and the robot suit could pass for a muscular woman's body type.  I thought maybe they were making some sort of artistic statement or something and the girl's power transformed her into a dude in that demonic magic new world, but no, it's just the character design.

Eh, whatever floats their boat I guess.

About Sora... I wanna be mind open now, and ask to the folks who actually got the chance to properly experience the series: What's really appealing about this character? Is his direct connection to Disney IPs the sole reason people wanna se him make it in? Or boy's got some actually good character traits that I'm sadly missing out?
Sora as a character is your typical shonen main boy hero.  It's not a particularly unique designation, but it is a proven archtype that works and people like and Sora is no different.  He's a light hearted, cheerful, dumb as a rock hilbilly who don't know why magic computer keep beeping at him when he can't find the Any Key.

Probably more unique ironically is even more than his comparison to your shonen protagoinist hero is he is more accurately an one-for-one copy of Sailor Moon.  His characterization, powers and themes mirror Usagi's whole, like, everything, except the magical girl staff/wand has been replaced by a key.  Which the fanbase has taken notice of and had their fun with.

Beyond that, I suppose his appeal is his stand-in for the everyman thrown into a ridiculously overcomplicated situation and his solution is to hit it hard enough until it gets fixed.  Kingdom Hearts is also notorious for having a Metal Gear Solid-esque comically complex and layered plot for what is essentially on the surface your basic Light versus Darkness story.  Sora however just doesn't get any of it at all and just wants the basics; get his friends back, beat anyone bad's face in if they can't be redeemed.

That all said, it's not a zero percent appeal that yeah, this is also still somehow a blending of Final Fantasy and Disney characters with their own histories being blended together and Sora, once again the average player stand-in, co-mingling with them.  His connections with many of the Disney movie characters is usually not that deep and it's more the coolness factor that you get to see what happens when Cloud Strife strikes a deal with Hades to kill Hercules.  For whatever reason you envisioned that scenario as a kid.

Frankly, your pilot idea is just Captain Falcon but if it were Domon Kasshu instead.

Which would be just fine in my book because one of his obligatory taunts will be done WITH THE HELP OF KYOJI!

I kinda want to see them try to poke the old school Doom hornet's nest and have the Mii Gunner Doomguy have the BFG but it's required it has to only be called the Bio-Force Gun.  Bring up that old scar.

Speaking of Sora, just to throw this in and stir up some trouble for those wishing for hope, the latest "leak" going around is some guy back in June claimed to be on Disney's end and got a request passed down from his higher ups to continue the chain of getting the right people to sign off on letting Nintendo use Kingdom Hearts music on an upcoming presentation.  The leak's credibility comes from them being told it's for a Smash presentation on October 5th.  If it was a guess it was a rather lucky shot in the dark.

Take it as you usually do with your leaks.  Would be nice to have Sora, be fun to see the reactions of yet another fan-made rule that the Smash team supposedly have to abide get broken and it's another Square rep.  I kinda would prefer Lara Croft if I think about it as a better mark in history, but Sora's pretty great too.

For what it's worth, ignoring the leak, I'm reminded of this collective poll results of various Smash polls around the world from two years ago.

And I would not be surprised if they write off the last Ultimate character done in a similar fashion as Bayonetta was just go with Sora because it was fairly clear people wanted him super bad above others for years now.

...Also can we talk about how much Japan wants a Gundam in Smash?  I feel like like the Japanese fan base is working on a whole other level of priorities here.  That or they really love those Super Deformed Gundams.

Like I said, I assumed there was something deeper that people liked beyond where I dropped it.  And I likewise assume if I try it again with a blank slate it'll be a better experience.  Just for whatever reason at the time I played it when it was new-ish I got fed up with her role in the whole story.  Game beyond that was ok.  Bit weird Fly Me To The Moon plays in a graveyard though.  And the gravity-inverted running up buildings parts sucked.

If 3 interests me enough I may have to push up a revisit on the schedule, but we'll see how it looks.  Oddly broader Nintendo fans seem to be mixed to bashing on it on Facebook on my end, but I chalk that up just to it not being a mind-blowing trailer after 4 years.

You know what?  That was genuinely the complete wrong terminology.  I guess I was just tired when messaging that or something, but no, I apologize, prude was the completely wrong term and I don't know why I defaulted to that.  She's just a jerk.  She finds a kid and bullies her around the room.  I don't know how the story ended, but I just dropped it and moved on around the level about being in an hourglass or something.

Funny enough I forgot about Cereza, seeing up to the point Bayonetta in the present day was treating her like trash was the point where I gave up on the first game and wondered why people even like this character.

I do some day have to replay the first in full with a fresh mindset then play the sequel I've had for years now.  First time just left a bad taste in my mouth.  She's like Dante to foes but also if he was an actual prude to regular people.  I always assumed she got better as it went but meh, never cared enough to try again.

But yeah, I guess that makes some sense.  That along with the leggings, frilled skit and puffy shoulders, I guess the dress motif this time around is gothic lolita.

If the stream itself didn't say, didn't go back to double check, their social media post repeating the Smash direct news also confirmed there are still more Mii costumes.

We've covered all Smash 4 costumes that were missing the last pack, so I'm left to assume the remaining Mii costumes will be the runner-ups were highly requested but didn't make the cut.

So, you know, practice your Mii Swordsman for Sora now.

I'm not sure if I'm a fan of the new Bayonetta look yet or not.  Going to let it stew for a bit.  I always like the first game's look because the long hair made a lot more damn design sense because of the whole hair outfit thing.  Pigtails are an odd choice though.  Eh.

Yes, that was the first thing I was stuck mulling over compared to the rest of the 4-year long awaited trailer with all the cool action scenes and the kaiju and whatnot.  No, I'm not a real Bayonetta fan.

3D open world Kirby has been a LONG time coming.  Never thought they'd actually do it though since Kirby fell into a second to third-tier Nintendo series in popularity and the devs ever since the Gamecube couldn't agree with how to do it.  So just from a long-time fan it's real good to see happening at all.  Though I do see some of that 2D to 3D transition issue they've brought up prior.  Seemingly manual targeting where you're spitting enemies and the neutered flying Kirby's known for.  Ah well.  I will still likely get this one just because they finally made the jump if nothing else.

Also I did not play Astral Chain, been interested but not a top priority.  But that mascot dog is from that other Platinum series, yeah?  Was I unaware the two share a universe?  Because that was also something that I was unsure with the whole gameplay trailer.  The locals didn't exactly ring Bayonetta setting to me.  Granted I only played half the first game but this trailer gave a lot of odd focus on Japan's military.

Chris Pratt does not strike me as someone who can do a convincing Italian stereotype naturally.  If it's just Pratt just doing his regular voice then that's going to be disappointing.

No real huge opinions on the rest.  Charles is probably going to be cameoing Wario and Waluigi I'd assume.  Outside the fever dream acid trip that was the 3D cartoon, did Donkey Kong really ever talk outside basic exclamations like "Okay!" and "Yeah!"?  Never mind Seth Rogan, I'm just trying to picture Kong forming articulate sentences.  Unless it is just Seth just saying a single word here and there.  Which is probably the funnier choice, actually.

If anything Keegan-Michael Key as Toad is the standout weird one to me.  Because Toad just communicates in "BUP" or gargling ear bleeding.
