Did they shut down the site or is it a host problem like MFFA did a few times? :(

Honestly, I actually don't have a clue... This is the first time this has happened with RandomSelect as far as I know. It's possible, but I don't want to get my hopes up. There is also the fact that Piiym (the host) was hacked a while ago (Not sure when exactly, but I think it was within the last year at least).

The long standing MUGEN website Randomselect, which hosted a large number of characters and stages, has went down as of today.

http://randomselect.piiym.net/cgi-sys/suspendedpage.cgi

Not much is lost as far as I'm aware, since it can still be accessed via the Wayback Machine, but still, it sucks to see this historic site go down.

EDIT: If anyone still wants to download any characters, stages, or other misc MUGEN things that were hosted on the site, this archive should help (Thank you, Iced, for bringing this to my attention): http://network.mugenguild.com/rs/

This is an amazing introductory post. I believe PoTS's characters and some of the more faithful PoTS style creator's characters should be some of the first characters to download if you're starting a Mugen roster, and this post serves as a great guide for those who are new. I honestly believe that this should be pinned, given the sheer number of PoTS clones out there. Seriously, it can be confusing at times, especially for a newcomer!

BEHOLD, MORTALS, THE VIDEO THAT INTRODUCED ME TO MUGEN AS A KID

(thank god the video description told me what game this was, or I would have never found out what MUGEN was!)

This is minor... like REALLY minor... but one of Athena's winquotes is kinda messed up. (Good luck on Kyosuke by the way!)

Congrats on the release of Samus!
A couple of really minor things I think should be addressed:

-When Helpers are disabled, it still takes 3 seconds for the round to actually begin after everyone's intros are finished.
-Stage BGM isn't muted during her round 2 victory pose.
-EDIT: It's hard to notice, but the stage BGM is muted for only a split second when she's KOed. Perhaps mute it for a little longer, or don't mute it at all?

Also, unrelated to Samus, but if you aren't currently busy with another character, I want to give you a reminder to make Simon's BGM stuff consistent with your other characters and fix that Thonolan typo:

EDIT 2: Just joined the Famicom Fighters Discord, this may be the last time I report something here.

Jill Sandwich. Freakin' byoutiful.

Only one question remains now that the finish line has been crossed: Who is this new character release that this was all leading up to?

I'm kinda meh on Jiren himself, but who knows, he might be really fun to play. We'll just have to wait and see.

Still, I'm really glad that Season 2 is definitely happening.

Well, only two (or one?) more updates before the secret all-new character release.

If you want my advice, I'd recommend releasing the Strider update as-is for now and waiting to do the CS later. It sounds like it would take forever, and it would be annoying if one of the characters was never updated, IMO.

Now give us Gordan Freeman.  Come on, it's not like Valve's doing anything with him.  Square Enix has done more for the series than Valve in the past decade or so.

If that happens, that would make Super Smash Bros. the real Half-Life 3.

Speaking of spirit battles...

I'm doing my thing and I'm looking at GameFAQS and I see a topic that catches my eye... apparently some website out there is claiming that a few of the battles are racist. Which ones?

Well, you have a fight against Diddy Kong that can net you the Dee Jay spirit, a fight against Donkey Kong that can net you the Mr. Sandman spirit and a fight against a team of Villagers that can net you the Tac spirit.

For one... somebody has WAY too much time on their hands. Secondly, with the limitations of the roster and spirits, you have to be creative to help it make sense. In those examples, they are doing that... The Diddy Kong fight says that he favors his Side Special, which is a kick. Dee Jay is a kick boxer; The Donkey Kong fight has sleep inducing floors and his punches are stronger, kind of like Mr. Sandman and the Villager team can do damage by running into you and are faster then you like Tac.

Yeah, saying those are "racist" is definitely a stretch. This kinda reminds me of the Mr. Game and Watch side smash feather (which I thought actually was racist, since it directly referenced a harmful stereotype from the past. It wasn't enough to make me angry, but still).

Also, this is GameFAQs we're talking about here. Of course they will try to find something to complain about.  :mlol:

Could also be due to technical limitations.

Full list:
https://www.serebii.net/smashbrosultimate/assisttrophy.shtml

This information is... interesting for those who are still trying to make a case for potential fighters who are already assist trophies, to say the least. On one hand, if some assists can't even be summoned on certain stages for whatever reason, then it would be easy to not make them appear if their respective fighters are in action.

...On the other hand, let's not forget about Spirit Battles. I do not believe Spirits deconfirm fighters, but a lot of Spirit Battles do utilize Assist Trophies. If, say, the Ashley Assist Trophy is programmed to not appear if Ashley is in the battle, then what will happen if you use Ashley to fight the Ashley spirit? (I know, that sentence was confusing.) I'm sure the fix is easy (just give the Assist Trophy Color 2 if the fighter's Color 1 is being used?), but still.

I dunno, I never noticed the challengers for new character unlocks being, well, challenging.  Perhaps more-so than the level 3 default A.I., but not near their level 9 A.I., which is just default to me anyways.

Yeah, I don't want to sound like a dick, but the "Challenger Approaching" fights weren't that hard to me. Hell, ZSS just straight up killed herself by accident within the first 2 seconds when I fought her.

I read that the difficulty of the "challenger approaching" unlocks were adjusted in the latest patch. Hopefully everyone who was having a tough time with them can rest easy now.

NG+ in this game is awesome. It's so satisfying to tear through the tough spirits and bosses with my OP as hell character. And, on the plus side, there's only one challenge in the game that's tied to NG+, so it's not an absolute requirement.

Oh, by the way, this game is amazing.

Found these images on the official Nintendo AU NZ Twitter. These new spirits are officially named "Partner Pikachu" and "Partner Eevee".
