10 Years of The Black Heart

Hola :)

By accident I recently came across Borghi's Black Heart again.
I had followed his work from the first baby steps to the release of the game & it surely made me want to start to create Pixel art myself.

So, this year in October 7th 2019 (at least according to the old video of 2009)

will mark the 10th anniversary of his full game release.

Something I think, we as a community could / should celebrate.

Borghi has been a great and driving force in the Mugen community and while he now is into different ventures (he seems to have released a book https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KJVUB50NYGg&frags=pl%2Cwn recently!) it would be a great opportunity to celebrate his achievements of releasing such a unique game that surely helped spreading Mugen over the past 10 years. IIRC Borghi was posting here on MfG since as long as I can remember.

So what's the plan.
Sprite ONE or as many as you want of the 7 (6 playable + one boss) characters in your style and let's create a huge fan art :)
Deadline is obviously October 7th. I'll post a sprite I just made of Ananzi the next days so we all get in the mood of creating more haha

From the nearly 30.000 Google Search Page results, the 20.000 youtube results, the probably millions of comments about HyperDBZ on any platform (twitter, Facebook, youtube, discord! here on mfg, deviant art,etc ), the thousands of people "associated" with it, with you, by writing about it, creating videos about it, having HyperDBZ stuff as avatars etc, I can proudly tell you that if that is really the case, I'm sure that I'd be the least of a problem for you if they background check anyone ever mentioning HyperDBZ. I'm sure you have a fb friend, a close family member or follow someone on any platform that has world views that would reflect badly on you if that's all the case.

If that of what you try to explain to me is really true, and I doubt that to some part, then it would probably be the wisest decision for you, to not be part of anything like HyperDBZ, at all. Or do you guys do background checks nowadays on your actual team members? What if xy is part of a student organization or is criticizing politician xy? Come ON!

IF there is more reasons (as you mentioned), pls tell me in private & we can have a civil talk about like we always had. I have an open ear & am open for talking about it; Again, I don't want to affect your life negatively, but the issues stated seem to be not the core issue any of you are having.

That said, pls keep it on-topic now.

HQ, one of the reasons why we don't want the name HDBZ associated or referenced in your project is because some of us are working with government-related agencies and suppliers.
Having your parody game associated/referenced to HDBZ could have huge negative impact on our careers or towards prospective employers. As simple as that.

Parody and political satire could be ok in Germany or Austria, but I can ensure you it's not appreciated in Russia or Turkey.

All we ask is that you change the HDBZ reference in kickstarter and say for example "Quality animator in indie games" or something like that.
And on your Twitter profile, change the part "Working on HDBZ" by "Formerly worked in HDBZ"

Hope you will understand our request and concerns towards your project

According to your logic there, no one ever should ever list any person or project ever worked on in a team. The project BundesFighter was done for a German state-financed company. I bet you everything that they'd have more of a problem (which they don't) than an anonymous name such as XG or a fan game called HyperDBZ;  It is a bit of a wide stretch to make the connection from a guy who states that he worked on a fan game and "criminalizing" a team he has formerly worked with and in the even far more stretched reality, finding out your real name and the work you or anyone else does in real life. If you do shit in real life on your own and say that you are a team member of a fan game, what does that have to do with Balthazar or anyone else on TeamZ2? Nada.

Obviously & I'm sure you know that I'm sincere: I don't want to have a negative impact on your life's. BUT, thinking that because we both worked on the same project and I go out and do something you don't agree with, makes me fail to see how it can have an impact on you, especially since I'm in no words saying that I'm an active part of HyperDBZ on Kickstarter or that you or anyone else of Z2 is involved with it. Even if I were part of TeamZ2 I fail to see where this make my actions have consequences on yourself - this is the dangerous "relative-guilt" any totalitarian regime has strived for (your family member does shit and everyone is guilty for that). This group think is dangerous imho, but that's a whole other topic.

(sorry for that on Twitter, it has been there for ages and not been touched ever since - you can see my activity on twitter and can probably estimate yourself that I never recognized it being there nor that I would leave it standing - I of course deleted that immediately when you pointed me to it)

Byakko: We made a legal check.

HQ I don't think youre correct about why balth doesn't wanna support, you're assuming is has to do with your history with the hdbz team and whatnot based on what I read and you're taking it to heart a bit too much.

I don't want to comment more of what's already said, I'll just say this: political stuff like this will always be met with some sort of backlash, parody or not. I do hope you're prepared for that fact
Don't get me wrong here, but I didn't ask for his support. There's a bit of a stretch between not liking a project and telling someone to feel ashamed or disgusted by oneself. In addition to that the demand of him/them towards me on twitter dm's is something that keeps me literally speechless.

Thanks Ash. "World Warriors 3" is the name.

This is gonna get shut down so fast lol, Kim vs trump really?
Satire my friend. I've worked on a similar game about German politics & the law there is pretty straight forward.

Sorry HQ but I can't support this, this whole game's concept is just in extremely poor taste to me.
You are clearly offended for reasons I can only estimate. I saw the message on twitter from TeamZ2 though and I'm honestly without words. It is not only an incredibly demand that you want me to not ever mention that I have ever worked on HyperDBZ, but also that I basically erase this part of my animation history. You and no one of HyperDBZ is associated with this product and this is clear. While I can only estimate that it is pissing you off because I mentioned that I was a former animator on it, the history is pretty clear for anyone involved. I've made animations for HyperDBZ, and even if you erase anything from the game I ever made, it won't change a dime about the fact that I worked on it, with YOU and the rest of the team. Even after our bad split I had high regards towards anyone involved and never did anything to ever hurt your "brand" - so why do you think I would start now? You don't like the concept, fine. It is Satire, it is anti-war & an obvious critic towards the politicians involved. If you don't particularly find this satire funny or agree with these adjectives, this is up to you.

1. You dont have the rights to the world warriors brand.
2. You'll never get permission to use trumps name and
Likeness or any other politicians.

So why are  you asking for money for a project that's
never going nowhere, you tryin to get sued?
1. WorldWarriors3:NuclearConflict is the full name
2. I don't need the permission. Check any other project regarding use of clear names of famous figures. Plus of course I'm not trying to get sued.

Actually interesting, but like Memo said, there's no way this is going forward, you'll get into trouble.
Why do you think that?

You know, this can go bad in soooooo many ways. I mean on one hand, you can pass this off as a parody law (assuming countries don't have specific laws regarding how they are parodying well known, public figures) but then you have the fact that its political satire which can lead into deep shit. It's too bad ya seemed to have worked on it a ton already, since it doesn't look bad (don't take this the wrong way).

We have had art that has discussed topics like this for many years, but this is sort of questionable/stretch... Let's see what happens tho, eh?
Again, as mentioned, I've worked on a similar game in Germany that went viral. There was legal discussions but satire is clearly protected. Thank You, the time spent on it was fine :)

I had alot of fun working on the sprites, now I can have fun playing it :)

It was a pleasure working with you on it! I'm sure you saw all the articles online about it already, but I'll send you a selection of the best ones in a day or two :)

Im glad you guys managed to push that through, it shows a ton of dedication and hard work.

Thank you Iced. It was a lot of work within a very short time ;)

Very very quick guidance of how you can animate (keep in mind that the animation here is a bit too exaggerated, I like your calm approach)
Step 1:
Select the elements that would move and move them --> ideally the armor would turn slightly to the right too (which needs redrawing)
Make a first animation sketch with that method:

Step 2:
Redraw the elements that are moving and consider the changed perspectives (see right arm - spriters view) the upper arm would need redrawing of course - the muscles lines on the upper thighs change etc
Step 3:
Polishing :)

Hi fellow MFG members!

You know how I have been missing on here for quite a while. I made a game called "BundesFighter".
The game is about the upcoming political election in Germany and a few of MfG's members truly helped making this a reality! Thanks to Balm, Chamat,StevenB and many more you can now play the game for free at:

Here's the official trailer:

And here you can play the game

In the upcoming days I'll post animations and more pixel art graphics (that's why it is on this board)

If you are looking to have a reference for paying someone to something like that, I'd suggest you say so. The whole purpose of the topic seems to me to get an estimate of how much you should pay someone to do. Depending on the artists skills he/she will have more experience creating stages or characters leading to different prices of course.

My personal experience:
1 SF2 character with about 70 frames will take you 2-4 weeks if you work day and night.
1 SF2 stage will take you 3-7 days.
All if you have a design, a style etc down and don't need the conceptualizing process.

Try it.

Depending on your skills and how experienced you are. The dimensions, the perspective of the stage, if there is animation or not. How many layers for parallax etc.

If I say a stage like SF2 would take me 5 hours it wouldn't help you, seeing that you most likely don't have the same skill set, the experience in design decisions etc. The only way to find out is to try creating one stage and then see from there.

Great work!

I agree it isn't Z2 so I try to give you feedback on this style on its own :)

I made some very quick fixes/additions/things I'd improve on it:
- The shoulder muscles for me at too big on the left side (spriters view) --> Now that I view it I might have reduced it a tad to much though
- The neck area on the right side is missing
- The fist/fingers are too big on the right
- The sixpack could be defined a bit more
- The hair on the other side adds to the volume/ a less flat view
- I changed the colors a bit as the current one look to soft for the boss type character he is
- The left hand (spriters view) looks bended out too much, but you referenced the source material so that's okay. Limb/Ankle wise it would make more sense to have it face more inwards and less just upwards imho
- Not a big fan of the folds of the left leg as they don't make much sense to me, but that's like all mentioned here nitpicking.
