Re: Super Buu Z2 RELEASED!

Congratulations on the release - it's great to see Buu being shared with the public!

While you know I'm not one to seek credit, I have to say I'm very much surprised to have received so little credit for a project I was involved with until nearly all the sprites were made. "Minor sprite help, suggestions, testing." is the biggest lie/joke I have ever read. Barker, I worked with you on the character for more than a year and viewing the last sprite sheet I have, there are about 4-5 animations tops I wasn't heavily (for the most part) involved in (either doing animations sketches, improving your work, reworking sprites, adding frames, updating limbs, adjusting proportion or animation inconsistencies, etc. It's okay for me if you use the finished work we did together in your pixel art portfolio, but not at least valuing the work I did with you on a project that truly wouldn't be the same without my input is a joke & doesn't really put you, or even the rest of the team in any good light to the public. I hope you and the rest of the team could learn and treat fellow contributors better, eventually ensuring a better final game.

I think I have seen that animation already? Did you remake it again?

You know Balm I like your work, but having that stance makes all the attacks you designed so far have literally no range - especially if you twist out the knee like that. To me & that was the problem with the last punch too imho, the leg pushing forward so much, distracts the eye from where it should be - the fist/punch in these animations.

How can you improve that?
There's a ton of good references /in martial masters I think are a few good elbow punches
To be honest the the timing is off, the range is non existent & the impact is also too little for my taste, but I'm sure you can improve that while advancing on the animation! Also be sure to check the upper body width that shrinks at a frame, making it look very flat (even when fully shaded)

A very quick try, but it didn't turn out so good - I'm sure you can take something from it though!

Good work! I did miss that the scar was missing on that one frame too! Good that you added it!

Great Video!

In this I can only suggest that, to convey that motion better (move that one foot stepping forward a pixel up, that one body a pixel down when landed and the arm using the stretch animation squash and stretch :)

Great fixing! :)

I didn't mean the size but the overall "fulness" of his body during frame 2 and 3. It's like his muscles grow or get thicker (it's hard to pinpoint it down).

Another thing I was wondering just now & sorry that I saw it so late in the editing process, but why does his foot move forward in a simple LP? (Is it a LP?)

These would also be simple fixes, that would not only increase his reach (without extending his arm too much), but also create more focus on the thrust of the arm motion. If you need help fixing this mess I made, I'll go ahead and do so.

It's good to see some animations finished.

In the first two frames after the stance he gets noticeable bigger (just like in that Alex Run animation you made, maybe that's the way how you sprite but it ends up bulkier than probably intended)
+ Some of the in-betweens need work! This way the animation could look more fluid & the silhouette would also look better and more distinctable :)

Also you might should increase the reach of that attack seeing how the arm is completly pushed out and how long the upper& underarm are in the stance

Hatter, you took Nico's first edit from deviantArt that got height reduced in the character development/ design process
Find the right size here:

The pose looks a bit to stiff & not rather fitting for C17 imho, the head/hair needs to be bigger
The bandana looks nice so far!

Alpha Proto - why are you afraid of movement?
The tail animation doesn't really work for me, but I just had time to make this quick edit:
Pls take a look what I did - as a rule of thumb, when he goes down and his knees push outwards his hip also need to actually move down

But people were already confusing the original sprites Balth and everybody were doing for Hyper Dragonball Z with Extreme Butuoden's sprites, and I feel like some people won't see him as an original take on the character.
Do you mean that ONE guy that thought so in the neogaf forum and everyone after him was wondering why?

+ I can tell you, you couldn't be more wrong about your C18 theories for the most part in the posts you made there...(but let's not get off topic about that)

...this guy basically just told me that I will never amount to anything... nothin'

"Yeah, this album is dedicated to all the teachers that told me
I'd never amount to nothin', to all the people that lived above the
buildings that I was hustlin' in front of that called the police on
me when I was just tryin' to make some money to feed my daughter,
and all the niggas in the struggle, you know what I'm sayin'?

Uh-ha, it's all good baby bay-bee, uh"

1) Instead of getting offended by a dude you don't know, and who in return doesn't know you, I'd recommend investing the time in spriting, spriting AND spriting. Everyone gets better with practice (if one is open to constructive feedback). I think somebody should have told you that already, but if anyone tells you that you don't amount to anything (which I didn't read in his reply though) then go ahead do your own thing and eventually prove everybody wrong by succeeding in it (in the thing you strive for - if it is something criminal though, then don't quote me on that). That is a much better thing to do, instead of creating drama in a thread about a certain sprite style.

Quick edit to show the potential of the other design + of how I'd approach the stance (obviously based on what Ethan & ZX2 showed here)

I'm still not sold on the idea on having Trunks hold the sword like that. I'm more on Force's side to have him in reach but not touch the sword permanently. (all obviously if there was a Trunks in HDBZ)

Problem with file extraction
Some stages are not loading.
Big demo BTW.

I hesitate to re DL it.
I'll give a try to the next build, hopefully with Krillin and 18.
Is that a joke?
If not, how did you extract it? With what programme?

Okay.

Look if you use the old/unused RandomSelectIcon I made for HyperDBZ based off the Z2 Logo I made for HyperDBZ, at least, have the decency, to mention that the Z was not created by you. I'm not the biggest guy on demanding credit, but for the sake of your artistic credibility it wouldn't harm mentioning that you used elements from someone else.

Can I play HDBZ on my Mac?
Yes you can!
One method would be using a program called WineSkin.

Steps:
1) Download
http://wineskin.urgesoftware.com/tiki-index.php

2) Open it

3) Add a new engine with the „+“ or „download packages manually“ (then it should look like this - the number doesn't need to be the same, just get a newer version and you will be fine)
Spoiler, click to toggle visibilty

4) Then create a new blank wrapper (name it for example Mugen)

5) Close everything

6) Open that wrapper (It should be under YourUser>Applications>WineSkin>Mugen (or whatever you named it) (Looks like this:)
Spoiler, click to toggle visibilty

7) Press "Install Software" & then "Choose Setup Executable".
Spoiler, click to toggle visibilty

8) Open the mugen.exe
Spoiler, click to toggle visibilty

9) Have fun playing!

I guess you didn't want to say this yet but I have to ask - is it Smurfyeah working on Android 18?
It's somebody else, who will reveal himself in a few days I'm sure!
