Put No limit winmugen back in its original WinMugen state.

Is it possible to restore all the unlocks that Rouhei has activated, back to their original state?

according to the red me file, Rouhei has worked on a number of functions...

1. Cancel character limit (2> 65535)
2. Cancel mode limit
3. Cancel 10 minutes limit
4. Remove 2005/7 red bar alert
5. fix random stage shutdown error
6. Some force debug mode fix (change zero font to some fix)
    + Fix force debug font in VS scene and Select scene
    + Eneble erase debug screen from Ctrl-D
    + Disable force debug screen in round start
    + Disable force life value in lifebar
7. fix team coop 1p mode bug
8. fix gameover screen problem
9. fix force Debug, force AllowDebugKeys, force AllowDebugMode


the reason is just that, since no one in possession of the original Winmugen privtate beta, it could be ranimieren so based on the hacked version.

this version is missing in my collection.

No one cares to restore WinMugen to that version.
No one wanted that version after the hack, so don't count on it appearing suddenly. (if anyone wants to prove me wrong, be my guest)
Who knows how Rouhei made that hack too... everything is lost in time.

It's been lost for a reason and that is: that version is obsolete.
I can understand it's for archiving purposes, but nobody would miss much by using it.

I have the original winmugen private beta from elecbyte (the original one, before elecbyte1 and rouhei hacks).

But as Alex said above, there's no point in sharing it or using it nowadays. It would just bring confusion to people who's not aware of what happened in the past

And no, I don't give a shit about other people missing that version from their collection

Confusion how? The guy is just asking for an older version of a game engine. How is it "dangerous" or confusing to share it?

1) It only allowed 2 characters
2) it has a constant onscreen reminder message that can't be removed. This message even appears during fights
3) it's full of bugs and when you exit the program, you need to kill the process in the task manager
4) it crashes anytime for no apparent reasons
5) you can't play for more than 10 minutes
6) it was a private version, given to donators, and was never intended to be shared. The hype in year 2002 was to "just have it", but once the beta was leaked, and fixed by the different hackers, no one ever used the original version or even wanted to have it, as it is literally useless

I do not know where the problem is to share it with the community. it is now part of mugen history and must not be lost. it is just very interrassant how everything has developed with the engine.

It is a shame if something like that would be lost forever due to a hard disk crash, which can happen anytime.

just like this KFM character, he can do virtually nothing and is useless in this condition, but it is part of the history of the Mugen community.

it would be really a blessing if you make a theme with this rarity. a reminder of days gone by.  :)

I understand If you just don't want to share it but I still don't know how it's bad for OP to have it. if he's collecting old versions for fun, for whatever reason that may be (to check the code etc.), then there's surely no harm. As if Elecbyte cared that a 17 year old piece of software was shared. Best of luck, I hope you find its somewhere.

Not the best example.
That KFM was edited and updated so that it was made compatible with the latest version of mugen.
If BBH had actually shared the original KFM version (the unedited one) it would automatically crash mugen and not load the character, creating a lot of confusion among users such as "why is the character crashing?" or "why it's not working?", and 98% of the community will not even know how to fix it, as it was using old scripting code and no longer valid parameters.

So that's why there's no reason to share the private beta winmugen, because it would create such scenarios

but I have a question to you, why do you keep them even if the version oh so useless. for you, it's worth a collector somewhere. ;)


in addition, because with whole MS-DOS Mugen versions, which could theoretically confuse, it comes to no confusion among the users. As if this little version would trigger a worst case.

Can not you really change your opinion? :(

Not really. I have been creating mugen content since end of year 1999. I have multiple CDs and DVDs with stuff from friends and my own creations for almost two decades, and in one of them there is still a copy of the original private beta, from which I took the above screenshots. So, I'm no collector, just happened to be at the right time and the right place.

I guess I can understand collection purposes, but it seems more like you want this thing publicly available when theres absolutely no reason or actual significance to it being public lol

What was it like back then? Has somehow sometime the contact stopped or did they tell you that they first retire?

I would literally pay you money for that mugen for the sake of preservation. I know some people don't understand, but its why things like MAME exist. Why does anyone want to preserve a lame-o McDonalds digital toy etc??? Who want's to preserve a TIGER digital toy??? Stuff like MAME does that. I've paid to preserve before, also physical things as well. It's a nice document into time of the past. Let me know if interested.
