Which fighting Game series has the best story in your opinion? (Read 6019 times)

Which fighting Game series has the best story in your opinion?

i know i know..fighting games arent normally played because of their stories..but often we can enjoy em even more if they have good ones i ll list a few

Art of Fighting Series - sister of a mainhero gets kidnapped..and there is the evil crime syndicate in southtown. later the heros fight more or less against young but already evil geese. in part three it was something bout a dr jekyll and mr hide experiment or something?

Fatal Fury series... evil Geese killed young terrys father. terry angry now, making angry babyface and swears he will avenge his fathers dead later. so terry, his brother andy and their friend joe are going to the "king of fighter`s" tournament to finally meet evil geese. in the later parts they have to beat geese and a manly german weirdo again and again until geese dies and terry trains with rock howard to fight .. another evil guy. i forgot his name.


Streetfighter. 8 fighters from around the world each one with hown goals..fight against evil vega/bison and his weird shadowloo syndicate. they have to do it again and again until many years later they have to fight a nearly naked man which is blue and red.

Mortal Kombat. Evil Sorcerer  and his Emperor want to invade and "k"ontrol the earth(realm) . So they have to win martial arts tournaments. ten times in a row. so good fights against evil. again...and again..and again. around 8 times + now. and i m sure they will fight again against each other. Go Ninja Go Ninja Go!

King of Fighters - evil but manly looking guy wants to be total powerful. he wants some...fighting data? and so many good looking and ugly looking fighters battle each other again and again until someone else wants fightingdata. weird story.

Samurai Showdown. alright i better stop. this series had a almost decent story sometimes. and stories bout tekken, doa , virtua fighter, soul edge take too much time...

so..whats the best story in a fighting game in your opinion?

I like AOF/FF, because it spans through a couple generations, is pretty down to earth and revolves around charismatic bosses. Doesn't need spaceships and clones to be good (yeah I know about the Jin scrolls).

Darkstalkers and Samsho are also cool, not so much for how everything comes together but for the cool settings and each character's own story.

Although it could be blamed on the Devil Gene (like Kazuya being an asshole after gaining the Mishima corporation), the whole "world at war" thing is something I'm a little iffy on.

Guilty gear X2: The Midnight Carnival. The amount of story and character interaction was great and well integrated. The main issue was lack of character development (Short of deaths), but if a GG X3 came out I'm sure I could no longer bitch about that at all!

....pretty much /thread unless you don't mind incredibly corny storylines, than MKvsDC was actually pretty good.

AoF/FF (Wild Ambition retold the story the best by far), KoF, Rival Schools probably has IMO one of the best storylines, Soul Calibur (when it aint being convoluted and difficult). That's about it for now.
i cant count the reasons i should stay

one by one they all just fade away...

I think that's right; the hatred he felt for Heihachi after that awakened the Devil Gene within him, which turned him into an "asshole", and he entered the first Tekken to get revenge.
