Doesn't seem like a huuuuuge issue to me. I just decided to remake this animation because it's probably the most visible. Piccolo and Tien have really smooth stances, so I felt like Buu's was lacking.XG has been working on some really cool stuff that we can probably show soon.
Those pants are reeeeally noticeably wobbly and jiggly imo. but buus body (well pink stuff basically) looks a lot more detailed now.
Spoiler, click to toggle visibiltyIt just looks odd, to me, how the shadow creeps so much down and around all sides of his shoe while only 3px of his ankle get shaded, and 1px of his ankle doesn't darken at all.I circled the 2 pants creases which don't seem to mirror each other like the rest of the pants movement... I think the one on viewer's left turns in when it should turn out.
So, does he bend over backwards, give his opponent a twisted smile, and then "sludges" to reform, as though he's now hunching forwards? (Probably worded that wrong, but it's hard to explain)
My take on it... I kind of expect Buu to be able to maintain perfect posture with his legs and feet during this taunt. The way his entire body seems to tip back is not very intimidating to me. It looks like the movement is too difficult for him to do in good form. With that said, if you do decide to tweak the taunt to look more "effortless demonstration of flexibility / prowess", then I also recommend making him move his arms more dramatically in a way that would challenge his balance more, like have them swing straight up and back down almost 360 degrees. You could add an anticipation frame where he bends forward at the waist a bit before snapping back, making it look like an even more difficult pose but by his expression is obviously just a breeze for him.
Is there anything you liked about the animation? For serious though, Buu isn't a gymnast. That's not really what we're going for with his movements. I think the way his spine and shoulders move here is very unnatural and that's why we like it.
What spine? He has no spine Although,in all seriousness, you take advantage of his "boneless bubblegum" physique. So what looks very unatural for us is very natural for him.
I appreciate the edit, it helps us understand what you mean. But it looks less intimidating, and like he's putting way more effort into it...which was one of your concerns. It looks further away from a "effortless demonstration of flexibility / prowess".
maybe you should add more in-betweens to make him go downward a lot slower and then when he smiles put like one of those creasing sound effects to give it a more creepy, horror-esque vibes.
Yeah, I went against what I was originally saying... to keep his legs stiff.Anyway, I'll leave it at this. I'm glad to know the feedback/suggestion is at least appreciated
We'll never turn away suggestions, especially when you took the time to draw it out. I think we're gonna stick to the original direction though.
I think you should at least incorporate the suggestion on the smile. Kinda adds more creepy to what you already made.
