Hi, Rabano here.

I think its a good time to present my new sprite project, after thinking about it for while, I decided which character I want to work on:

Shen Woo from The King of Fighters



this is the sprite Im working with rn

and here's some animations:









and a wip of his walking animation, big thank to MotorRoach for helping me with it:



About this project: Im not sure how much I will take on making him, probably less than Jubei since with I have enough references from his KOF games and a better roadmap, unlike Jubei that I was doing stuff without a order and most of it had to be made from scratch.

He will have all his moves from his games, and besides 3 or 4 new animations that he lacks in KOF, it will be all based on existing animations and nothing new or custom from my part.

Very good project Rabano!
I'm really hyped about it even if to me Dampir did a great job as well.
I always have a preference for spriting projects where there is no equivalent.

BUT Shen is so badass and a great choice.
Keep it up.

I have always liked Shen Woo in terms of conceptuald design, but I always felt he was lacking in the gameplay department, perhaps this will be the push he needs to feel more whole. Lots of luck on your new project,

Im finishing with all the movement stuff with Shen, but also I wanted to add both the chain and the yellow details he has in his legband from 2003/XI



I also finished the walking animations, thanks to Motorroach for giving me a hand with this one

Quite impressive.
The fluidity of the moves is very good. And the details in the clothing and accessories also look very cool.

Hi, since I have to many ideas I want to work, I decide to make a universal thread for my own work instead of creating one for every new thing I have.

yeah, Im also planing to make a CVS Leona, since she's probably the most important KOF character that is weirdly absent from CVS.

I will update both characters and also share some ideas of future projects I have.

also, here's a little bonus, some animations for Retsu, using his unused CFJ sprite



yes, he's also a future project but way in the future, you can asume he will be harder to make than Leona or Shen.

I'm glad to see such projects in work!
Rythmic used to have a Leona spriteset project. A really promising one. But he lost the files in a HDD crash or something.

Finally Leona will have her chance.

To me she looks great! Really.
My only fix would be thighs-hip area.
Capcom tend to give bigger ones to their female characters and same for snk females in CVS series.

I'm glad Motorroach gave you a hand with the animation.
Such a great support.

Every thing here is very promising!
Keep up the good wotk, buddy!

Im gonna be honest, El Gado was cancelled a looong time ago, like even before I started with Jubei, not only the work I was doing looks bad, but I also traced over a lot of other moves and using PrimeOP's sprite didn't really help

I don't promise I will do this, but I want to work on a new El Gado in the future, with a more better though up moveset, 100% original animations, and more important of all, using my own sprite, since after Akira I decided to only use my work instead of using other people's sprites (Retsu is a exception)

Hi, some updates.

with Leona there's not to much, just that I will redo every one of her sprites.

with Shen I have some animations to show:

About other random stuff, Im also just doodling stuff like some extra animations for Sean Atly's SF1 Joe, with a little CS, I will probably try to make a POTS character of him later.

another thing is that Im planning for more characters to work, and my plan is to do a obscure or weird character, concidering that both Shen and Specially Leona are pretty well known characters, and perfect for CVS (I still don't know how Leona didn't make it for CVS2)

I have some ideas, like SF Retsu, or even Monster Hunter Felyne.

that and some other... personal projects I want to learn, still will not show any of it, this is not the place to do it anyways.

CvS2 is Great! Yess... we have a lot of characters missing... we understand some characters are very powerful... but why the hell we have CPS2 sprites mixed with new sprites? :???:

I love CPS2 but I don't like CPS2 characters In CvSPro and CvS2. I don't hate it... it's slightly unbalanced if you think about it... CPS2 characters got less frames than CvS characters :mkickinthenuts:

The design of Shen Woo has always intrigued me, but I always felt he was lacking in the moveset department.

Poison would be absolutely awesome! For so many reasons!

Tsugumi would be a nice fresh touch to the usual SNK overused girls. A female grappler for a change...

All your Tekken characters are promising as well, but I know it will be a lot of work.

Most of the others SF4-SF5-SF6 newcomers + SNK overused charcters don't really make it for me. Just feeling so so about them...
My wish for you, not to burn yourself spriting characters who already have a more than decent spriteset.

Good luck with Shen and Leona.

look the reason is both technical and personal, but I highly doubt I will work on Leona now or in the future

I will either focus entirely on Shen or work on another character in the meanwhile, replacing Leona

It sounds like you're being a bit of a perfectionist, and honestly, that can sometimes hold you back from finishing your side project. But I believe you're on the right track! I remember when I worked on creating a Mugen characters a while back—I wasn't aiming for perfection; I just wanted to get it done and share it with others. What mattered most was that people could enjoy something I had created for the community. Keep going, and remember that progress is what count

I don't think the animations is bad. I can't see it but I understand you have to make it perfect. Please don't give up. Work on Shen and take your time ;D

Leona... and other characters your working on is not gonna be hard if get some help. We believe in you, buddy :yippi:

I know It's very frustrating but it's okay... it will take days, weeks, months and years to complete anything to be honest :smash:

You and Karma won Mugen character of the Year... please don't hate me if I say this... you can do anything mlol:
