A sprite. Good title. That is insane and amazing at the same time. How long did it take you to finish it?
Title: Re: A sprite
Post by: Arias on January 05, 2016, 05:48:42 pm
I don't know exactly since most of the time it's me staring at it & deciding if I like how it is coming. Especially for the puppet, since it only has a vague description. Probably around 12 hours.

Did you use his F/GO sprites for colours or am I just being dumb? Never the less, the sprite looks great but the Caladbolg II looks weird and really pixelated

Title: Gilgamesh
Post by: Arias on January 23, 2016, 07:02:37 pm
That's scratch work, animation was done manually mostly & the red arrow was made in AE. (http://i.imgur.com/cw5GVf7.png) Just a conversion this time, since Tabibito's Gilgamesh is one of my favorite mugen characters, I wanted to visualize him in hi-res.

Don't you have a Deviantart account? or another gallery? Just asking.
I have a deviantart account, but the only use I give it is to save large previews (filesize) for my stage releases mainly, I also have more stuff, though not everything is gathered in only one place. Up to date I haven't bothered in build a proper sprite gallery, .....but I guess I should start.

As far as my dim memory can recall, the only spriters I've seen doing hi res sprites are you, FJF, Kronos, and Ghost Killer (DBFC focused). Chamat has done a few Guilty Gear, UNIB, and Vanguard Princess sprites, and Demitri/Genesis is currently learning how to master le art of hi res.
So yeah, they are few.
Like the blast anim you made.

Delicious! I should commission you for Anita in the future! Looks like she'd be right up your alley!
From Darkstalkers? Well I've never tried that style, and with my normal schedule, having a character ready could take me years, but who knows.

Anyway, if you ever need a stage in the future(& once I have time for comissions), when it comes to darkstalkers, I'm actually more interested in their backgrounds than the characters themselves, and actually plan on study & practice that style :P

Not for now. (busy IRL) I don't want to say yes only to not being able to finish in a decent amount of time, but it actually interests me, may I ask what style and what type of animation would the FX(s) be?

Title: Re: Sprites/Animations
Post by: Arias on April 29, 2017, 12:54:01 am
Well, I'm not used to make pixel effects, as it probably takes more time (with the pixellation & retouches) although those don't look that hard to make. (depending of the animation too, of course) Guess I'll practice a few pixel effects and see :P

Animated & sprited a Dormammu head, I'm aware the head/mask and collar-thing would need movement in a walk cycle, but I wanted to focus only on the flame motion. Not sure if I got the mvc style 100%, but I'll try more low res stuff.

I don't have any more particles, other than the ones I already gave you, wouldn't they work the same just by rotating them though? Edit: Updated Dormammu a bit. (https://i.imgur.com/b3TDrr0.gif)(https://i.imgur.com/lVjKQ4E.gif)

Title: Re: Sprites/Animations
Post by: Arias on November 26, 2018, 05:56:43 pm
Everything is layered yes, including Sans, so there's option to remove him, also because I'm going to parallax the whole thing for depth.
Ooh, I like parallax scrolling ^..^ this'll be delightful. 1.0 and higher, or just 1.1 exclusive? Kinda hoping 1.0 and higher >..>
Title: Re: Sprites/Animations
Post by: Arias on November 28, 2018, 01:20:55 am
I'll try for 1.0, last time I tried depth in a closed stage for 1.0 (floor, walls, ceiling) had frame drop for a lot of people apparently, that time it was hi-res though, now the image is much smaller so it might work better, if not, then just animation in 1.0 and animation-parallax in 1.1

Second is a continuation of that planet BG I posted before, going to redo the ring perspective, might be a bit off there (the station still lacks many details & color stuff).
A couple of keyframes for a special, first frame is an anticipation frame so is not as fast as it looks, chained to slam, trying ideas on how to incorporate the giant doll effectively.
