voltage fighter gowcaizer is another one, not played by many even in fightcade

Indeed so, and furthermore the game is owned by Arc System Works, yet they haven't ever seemed to acknowledge the IP in their crossovers. Same with Battle Fantasia, the first fighting game from ArcSys to use 3D models; it too doesn't seem to be acknowledged much in crossovers; Code Shifter is far from a complete picture of ArcSys's IP; many franchises are missing, but all of those are rather obscure. A crossover fighter from ArcSys that sticks to their own properties maybe with some additional guests down the line could be a good way to bring light to the rosters of Gowcaiser, Battle Fantasia, and other franchises. If Battle Fantasia were to continue, I could see the game becoming fully 3D to fill a niche the other fighters don't, and to homage how it was their first 2.5D game.

Something else cool that not even Ikemen supports to my knowledge would be simultaneous d-pad and analog stick support on controllers like the Xbox controller, which is a thing many commercial fighting games for both consoles and PCs do support. Possibly even having the ability to use the right stick as a shortcut/hot-button for select moves ala BlazBlue or Smash. Pad players are becoming rather prevalent even at fighting game tournaments, and ideally should be taken into account for controller support.

Battle High 2 A+ seems to be totally forgotten by now, which is a shame. The game is very cheap on Steam, for one, and while it has no online play/net code support whatsoever, the game still has some worthwhile ideas going on, such as a universal dash cancel system allowing for varied combos or a powerful hit and run defense, as well as universal reversals and overheads. Story wise, think of it as Naruto+Rival Schools, and there are some interesting characters in the mix, and it even has some charge input supers. The Super bar itself considers having your Super move loaded separate from having meter; you can burn off your meter with dash cancel combos or universal reversals, then unleash your super anyway. Part of why I’m speaking so fondly is because of my own nostalgia for an earlier version of the game on Xbox 360 Live Indie Games, especially because it was during the days of Underdog MUGEN Wiki and I wanted to convert the roster. In fact, the game is still being worked on, with a future version planned.

Steam is home to a bevy of forgotten games, often having migrated from other platforms to gain notoriety, such as The Rumble Fish 2 (heard bad things about this port), Chaos Code, and Dual Souls: the Last Bearer (formerly Dual Blades), and there are also originals like Verdict:Guilty, but Sturgeon’s Law is also rampant there.

Really not interested in MK anymore, especially after learning what goes on at NRS, but the idea of them bringing back PS2-era characters sounds nice. On that note, it could be cool to see spinoff, conquest mode, challenge tower and other media characters (how cool would it be to play as Ruutuu?) at least be referenced more, like how 11 had a nod to Hydro. I also think 11 didn't have enough new faces, but deep cut curveball picks could make up for it (which in 11 they didn't even do that) even if they keep having few newcomers. For me to even consider buying the game, the roster's gotta have:

* Onaga
* Classic Sindel (the REAL Sindel, even if just a premier skin)
* Sareena
* Havik
* Li Mei
* Ashrah
* Kai
* Fujin
* Junko Enoshima
* Pennywise
* At least 5 new characters

Maybe Capcom vs SNK was a bit misleading as a title, because I guess essentially they wanted to make SF vs KOF with a few guests.

On the subject of SNK liking weirder picks, I think they did that so that SvC Chaos might stand out. SvC MOTM has a roster concept similar to CvS.

I have this as a precedent that the Vs. Series always had rejections with bullshit explanations behind.
Whenever I read stuff like that I just can't shake the feeling that the interviewee wasn't directly involved in the decisions made.

Furthermore, the SVC Chaos non-fighters are about as few and far between as the other entries, but the difference is that they’re much more far-removed bar Hugo. Even then, the non-fighters were secret characters and superbosses rather than main roster members. Hopefully a third entry in either series (which has apparently been talked about by Oda) will truly break into the diversity and variety of both company’s rosters, from the characters added since through continuations of their series (CVS 1 & 2 didn’t even tap into 97 or the NESTS saga, and barely had SF3) and acquisitions (like the ADK characters), those games which were forgotten during the initial releases like PowerStone, and of course, the non-fighting game catalog. And face it; perhaps building up hype over non-fighting game entrants with popularity outside the FGC could even build up resources (money, players, talent, skill) for more obscure fighters to make the jump. So Lady Dimitrescu and Megaman.EXE being added so we can also get Hayato, Mudman, and so on is a good idea.

I’ll nominate Multiversus… Hoo boy. What are Arya Stark and Rick & Morty doing in a game with Steven Universe and Shaggy? And why is Shaggy’s entire moveset largely a nod to a meme? Why are there real people in the game? This doesn’t even cover the big gaps in the roster (Warner Siblings, Samurai Jack, PPG, any RWBY content whatsoever…) The entire roster seems blatantly soulless and corporate, despite the love the creators put into presenting them, and as a result it feels more like the creators doing their best with what the corporation gives them for characters. Do games that do horrible things with established veterans (Sonic in Smash 4, Sindel in MK11) count? Even then, Abigail in SF5 certainly does, the way they removed all of his intellect and intimidation that comes from apparently being the number one henchman of the late Belgier all somehow gone, to the point even his nationality has changed. Perhaps he’s broken from the loss of Belgier, but all the cameos from beyond the grave he does, and the lack of acknowledgement of this, make it murky. To be fair, SFV was otherwise (aside from FANG, Necali, and maybe Falke and Luke) a marked improvement over SFIV’s newcomers, which included very poorly-researched and nigh-offensive characters like Hakan and El Fuerte, boring and often recolored characters like Decapre, Oni, and Abel, and of course RUFUS. Jump Force was another notorious game in the past decade, and one reason was the strange absence of a LOT of female leads like Uravity.

Dishonorable mentions: No Android 18, Cell, or Kid Goku in JUS, extremely limited non-fighting game representation in CVS series, lack of non-2003 characters in Smash-Up. All of these could be somewhat justifiable.

They straight up show the leaked roster.

Also, if one looks closely at the dollar bill when it says “Money”, you may notice the likeness and even name of Thomas Light on it. The Metall showing up was already suspicious.

Another bit of SF6 news you may have missed, a new game mode that contains a gimmick possibly more exciting for fans of another Capcom IP…

https://youtu.be/9XQUgQH3BrY

Along with the voiced 3D model in the upcoming Legacy Collection, is this a sign that the game that’s been worked on since 2019 is still in the works and will emerge soon?

the sad thing is, people say they want a new collection or new game besides street fighter, yet the only thing that does sell is street fighter, resident evil, etc

Hey, at least Mega Man 11 sold well, or does that not count?

And how much did the Beat Em Up Bundle do?
https://www.vgchartz.com/games/game.php?id=222799
Admittedly, VGChartz isn't a reliable source, but it's the only one that reported any sales numbers for it, and they're rather miserable, probably just as bad if not worse than the Zero/ZX Legacy Collection. However, if the Final Fight and Captain Commando leaks are anything to go by, then sales may have been good enough to warrant those titles in the planning department.

This means there could be hope for a ZX3… right? Unless the remakes are coincidental. Then again, that one guy in charge of Mega Man said he wouldn’t deny any series it’s future…

(Before someone brings up Inti, other companies like Yacht Club could be nice replacements).

Other companies that could work:

* Nintendo (Project X-Zone, Smash)
* Archie (published Worlds Unite)
* Konami (Boktai content in Network Timeline games, Smash)
* Psikyo (they did a mahjong crossover game)
* Inti Creates (Developed a good chunk of Mega Man games)
* Microsoft (Smash)
* Disney as a whole (Capcom did many Disney games, plus Star Gladiator was almost a Star Wars game. Wreck-it-Ralph, Smash. Also they bought Malibu)
* Shonen Jump/Shueisha (The Slam Masters characters are their property now, Capcom also did some games for more obscure manga from them in the arcades, like Area 88 and Tenchi Wo Kurau)
* Square-Enix (Smash)
* WayForward (Capcom published Shantae 1 on GBC)
* Hasbro/Takara (Hasbro did several MVCI toys, plus a 90s SF2 G.I. Joe line. Takara also did SF Transformers and I think a few Rockman items)
* Sony (Donte in PSABR, X-Tekken exclusive characters like Cole McGrath)
* Sirlin Games (SSF2XHD)

I feel like most of these could just have a single fighter each and be lumped into a “Misc” category.

At least it's the definitive edition of SF2 though, which is nice to see again;

Sadly, no SlamMasters. :[

I think the reason ROD isn't in is because of rights issues with Shueisha. The rights to the character designs are copyrighted to Shueisha, as can be seen in the title screen of the SNES version for example. Their relationship doesn't seem to be as good with Shueisha as it is with Arika, which is why the Slam Masters don't even have CFN profiles. Then again, Warriors of Fate made it to the Beat Em Up Bundle, so I imagine if this does well enough it could easily be on volume 2.

I'm... I'm... okay with this. Getting Darkstalkers & Friends Day 1, though. But... could this finally be after TS? So we can see characters like the Dolls, Sean, etc. become responsible adults? Ryu becoming the final boss as the seasoned master?

I think you could add Fight Fever characters too, because they have a similar sprite style to this classic SF2-Like style.
Battle Masters (SNES) could be a good choice too, you just need to resize the characters.

And if you add Guilty Gear characters, they should be from the PSX Guilty Gear, becuase the GGX/GGXX sprites are too different.

There's also Doomsday Warrior, Power Moves and Seifuku Densetsu Pretty Fighter on the SNES, but i think the latter is too anime-esque.

I don't even think the first Guilty Gear fits well with these, even. Anyway, Samsho 2, AOF, Justice League Task Force, and the various Power Rangers games might be nice, along with Ring of Destruction and Double Dragon.

THE Phantom of the Server?

I can't believe it. It doesn't seem they have new moves yet, but these are nice to see anyway with their revamped controls. I do like performing Negative Edge combos with these characters. I do have a few questions?

1. Will you consider an advanced buffering system, similar to JMorphman's characters?
2. As for new moves, will games like Street Fighter: The Movie and Final Fight Revenge be considered?

I suppose the only thing that was holding them back was finding a redesign that they liked. Cause it was never internal blacklisting that kept K9999 out of it after all lol

I wonder if anyone at SNK is interested in tracking down the rights to Love Heart, for that matter? Now that Highlights Entertainment has closed down, I don't know if it makes that easier or harder.

I'm disappointed in myself for not thinking of that joke myself sooner.  In a Smash clone thread of all things too.

I saw an article I think from EventHubs earlier that brought to attention that Warner Bros. owns Rooster Teeth.  So speaking of clashing art styles, I can't even begin to imagine how awkward the RWBY girls would look in here, seeing they're technically viable if not really expected.  But I can almost imagine them wanting one just to check off the "token anime character" checkbox on their roster list covering each demographic.

We already do have Gandalf as the "token realistic (looking) character" ala Snake in Smash, and you can argue Bugs and maybe Shaggy are cartoonier than everyone else too, so a "token anime character" wouldn't be unexpected. Maybe a "token 90s character", "token 80s character", and so on and so forth to appeal to various generations.

EDIT: Even funnier, Gandalf is technically a guest character; as even though his film rights are owned by Warner Bros, he originates from the Legendarium, a literary franchise by Tolkien. So basically this is the closest we'll get to Geralt in Smash, as so many people demanded.
