Hi Mugen Guild,

I am back to MUGEN with a better computer, I am not into coding very much only gaming, I was wondering which MUGEN should I install now the 1.0 or the 1.1 ? Is 1.1 the last version to date and the best ? Do all characters stages and screenpacks of ancient versions work with that one ? Or which MUGEN version would you say is generally the best ? And from where to download ?

Thank you for answering me guys.

Well, MUGEN 1.1 is still beta, so it can be unstable. I think, it's not the best choice it you ever gonna try to create something. But if you're wanna just to play it, then you can use it- chars are usually working and ability to use images without colors index as sprites can make a candy of your screenpack.
Here is link for MUGEN 1.1 on 4shared.

I choose 1.1 because while 1.0 is a more stable release, mugen 1.1 rarely crashes (for me at least, almost as rare as 1.0). but personally, i can't even tell the difference aside the zoomed stages because i don't even use 1.1 features almost at all (or that or it's because it passed so much time since i last used mugen 1.0 so i don't remember differences) so i use it just because i can.

1.0 and it's not even close.

1.1 is unfinished and still VERY unstable and some things still flat out break on it.  People like using it for the pretty stages and no color limit but it's really not worth it if you want to play with stuff.  Remember when we all used the winmugen leak and it would sometimes crash and not support some things?  Well 1.1 is in a similar situation to winmugen with its unfinished copy, except we have 1.0 which is stable.

Can your computer run OpenGL?

If not, just get 1.0. Winmugen and just about any side version has a crap ton of issues like freezing randomly and not playing music properly. For 1.1, you'll need OpenGL to have any of the flashy stuff. You CAN run 1.1 without OpenGL, but 1.0 is still better than OpneGL-less 1.1.

Actually, did you install DirectX on your computer? If you haven't, than get 1.1. If you already installed DirectX, OpenGL will be very slow and bad.

1.0, all the way. There's no point in using Winmugen anymore, and 1.1 doesn't add enough to make the instability worth it, and some of its new features don't work well with content not explicitly made for it.

Pretty sure i5-4210U with GTX 850m can run OpenGL and any 2d application with max eye candy, but...

Stability it is - A.K.A let's just go with 1.0 to avoid further complications.

Oh question : Are characters posted in the 1.1 content sub-forum working on 1.0 ? And the stages in the 1.1 sub-forum, are they working (without zoom ofc) with 1.0 ?

Thanks guys ! You guys are my best friends :)

It depends if they (characters and stages) use that no color limit thing and if they have zoom codes, because characters can cause zoom effects too. If 1.0 detects that zoom code, it'll crash. So, I GUESS you can delete it in most cases and it'll work fine.

Some content is 1.1 only.

It's basically a choice between stability and content/visials. Some people say 1.1 doesn't crash often enough to hinder their enjoyment, idk.

Helpful. Arigato gozaimashita IBZS-san and Niitris.

One last question before we close this topic :

Does Mugen Guild have a real-time chat discussion system/sub-chat somewhere ? We 100% need that. Even Mugen Infantry had a Xat.

P.S : If that Mugen Infantry Xat is still up someone give me the link. Yeah I don't care if I'm betraying you, Guild. All you have to do is have your own chat.

I had that problem, because my computer is a fucking toater and i had spent like 2 days messing with the configurations to fix this, if mugen 1.0 performs better than 1.1 without opengl in my pc, then i'll switch to 1.0

If that Mugen Infantry Xat is still up someone give me the link. Yeah I don't care if I'm betraying you, Guild. All you have to do is have your own chat.
how is that even betraing mugen guild? can't we run into any other forums anymore?

The OpenGL issue may not actually be your computer's fault. It's if you have DirectX installed or not.

I heard that DirectX overwrites the real OpenGL with a crappy version that runs very badly.
