Wow the baby eating was pretty creepy.

I like how every time Jonathan gets stronger, he also glows a little more. Clearly a metaphor for the fact that he is a very pretty man.

[Joseph]OH MY GOD[/Joseph] this episode was fucking gorgeous.
Glad they gave a boost in quality to this episode, even if a couple of inbetween episodes got a bite in quality taken out (comparatively speaking). This is definitely going to be the best anime ever.
Looks like the next episode will probably end with the same timing as manga Phantom Blood (with the start of Battle Tendency).

Oh by the way, about subs, it seems to me like Deadfish's are the better choice, they come out on Monday.

I'm following [gg]'s subs mostly because of the video quality (their subs tend to be awkward at some times though, they'll probably tone it down for part 2)

Still about subs, I've tried Nutbladder's and it's pretty bad, it's wrong and out of synch quite often.

Their previous subs haven't been this bad. They probably rushed it.

Their Kaiji subs were actually pretty bad and inaccurate, but they were the only group subbing Kaiji, so...

Part 2 isn't set in Victorian England, it only makes sense that it won't be all tosser sod blimey chums.

I think we all know that, but still, the main issue is that Koda and his minions tend to reword sentences that sometimes are already pronounced in English so they end up sounding pretty awkward.

...God fucking dammit, really?
And then there's the small detail where part 2 has Nazis (Expect lots of untranslated German terms) and Italy (Same, like Zeppeli's "Stronza" from episode 5)

Edit:
Oh, they translated Kikarei Tohou as "Freezing Fingers"
WHAT.

...Hopefully a different group will sub the BD's.

EDIT: Well there you go Bastard Wolf, you got your baby-eating scene.
yes, i am OVERDRIVE HAPPY :D

deadfish is not a fansub group, they just reencode other group's releases into mp4 format. judging by the release date they most likely use commie's subs

You are right, the BDs were confirmed to come with their own set of English subs, and yeah, we don't really know about the quality of said subs.

I just checked DeadFish's subs, Byakko is right they're way more accurate and they even translate the sound effects...ACTUALLY, I double checked some of the copies I downloaded for comparison and I realized that BastartWolf is right, DeadFish is just a reencode of Commie (I recall also trying GetBack, MMM and Nutbladder, I had an issue or two with their wording or their encodes)

Maybe it's just me but gg and commie/deadfish's the translation (and wording) of the opening feels off and kinda awkward at some point (Plus Commie/DeadFish has no karaoke)

I have less of a problem with that than calling a blatantly closed rose "in full bloom".  Just another problem I have with Nutbladder.

I agree in that particular instance GG's is awkward, but I'm okay with a bit of artistic license being taken with subtitles if I feel it adds to the product.  So far I reckon GG's done just that.

Yeah, I'm not getting anywhere near Nutbladder again.

As for gg... there's artistic licenses and then there's this.
