Ryu's Joudan Sokutou Geri, with an extra frame added by me.

Credits: PotS (Phantom of the Server), TMasta, and Capcom.

The extra frame I added:

Progress:

Cool  :8):

Thanks!

Comparison:

(Old)         (New)

The old one had the pants look CvS styled, the new one doesn't, with all the movement. Same for the feet.
To be honest there was nothing you had to change about it.

So about the pants, the old version reused some parts (pants, and feet) from the CvS stance. I wanted to make his standing animation more unique because as I said, the legs and feet were reused from the CvS stance, and the belt is somehow bugging me (I think the way of how it looks?).

I'll probably finish up his stance once if I have free time from my project.

Also the finger staying up is something that's also present in the original CvS spriteset, only slightly less visible.
I'm a bit confused on the finger part, but do you mean Ken's right arm, which is his thumb?

Worth realizing that you don't have to change things for the sake of changing them. No point in reinventing how pants bounce in CvS, and you'd probably want to remain consistent with how clothing animates in CvS instead of SF3.

Shit

Ok, I see then.

Ryo Joudan Uke CvS Conversion

KOF Sprite

CvS Sprite

Rezied the original and mostly drew over it. Frakensprited head, feet, and closed fist. First attempt at drawing an open palm for the raised arm (I'm sure it could look much better)

Ryo is one of those characters that transitioned poorly into CvS moveset wise imo. Missing way too many moves and some are animated stiffly.

:???:

CvS2 Ryo has every move that KOF98 Ryo does, minus that weird 98 version of QCB+P. Instead, he gets Zanretsuken and his air fireball, which is IMO more than a fair trade.

Ryo always had zanretsuken. Its more on the lines of the animations of the moves can be way better. Compared to that of kof, ryo animates like he has a stick up his ass (examples being his run, kooh ken, uppercut, etc, compared to the kof counterparts). compared to terry, Mai, Rugal, etc, Ryo could have been done better

Ryo always had zanretsuken.
That's actually not true, though. In 96 through 98, Ryo lost Zanretsuken. Instead, he had that proximity unblockable done with HCF+HP (tweaked into a pseudo-command grab performed with HCB+p in CvS). EX Ryo in 98 had Zanretsuken, but also ditched every move besides the fireball, shoryu, and tatsu. Only in 99 did Ryo regain Zanretsuken, while also ditching the proximity unblockable.

The quality of those animations is of course another story, but whether or not CvS Ryo had almost all his moves from KOF is not really up for debate.

Nice work!!
His facial expression is more true to Oni, Chucho's original was more befitting of a character with a personality like M.Bison (Dictator)

I think you put too many lines on the hair. The lines in Capcom's sprite are just to show some grey hairs and not for detailing it. Also, for the second sprite, I'm not sure if projecting the arm's shadow on the leg works for the style. And maybe the stance should have both feet planted on the ground?

Other than that I like them a lot.
