Theres a way to play it on the Xbox, but I think your Xbox has to be modded

about the others I dont know

Not a 360, the old black box. I can find mod chips all over eBay. Anyway, someone made a mod to play it on PSP, and that same person is trying to create one to the PS3.

Wouldn't installing a mod chip mess up your system and how would you be able to port mugen to xbox anyway?Don't you need to put it on a CD?Also how can you port it to PSP?

Theres a program called Xmugen (it's like a Linix Mugen hack)

and yea, you just burn them to a DVD

Oh I heard of Xmugen. So you need that to burn to a DVD?I bet this is really complicated.I have no money for an xbox though.I'll just play it on my laptop.

if properly installed, a modchip will not mess up your system. i got one on my PS2 and it was the best thing i could have done with it. (i could even install a HDD on it and have games run directly from the HDD).

of course, you will loose any warranties sony gave you.

xbox wise, you can just soft flash teh bios, and transfer your mugen via ftp instead of runing from dvd. been there done that.

Does Linux come with PS3 or do you have to buy it?And after you've installed Linux do you use a Thumb Drive or a CD Rom or DVD with mugen in it?

Here!---> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ZXcuhJkwx4 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ZXcuhJkwx4)

PS3 uses Yellow Dog Linux by default but others are trying to get more distros to work for it - http://www.google.com/search?client=opera&rls=en&q=ps3+linux&sourceid=opera&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8

Mugen can be played on a softmodded Xbox... they're dirt cheap if you check pawn shops, game stores and flea markets (I've seen them go for as little as $40) and the hard drive is upgradable (just takes a little reading/know-how). Running it via hard drive makes it load faster than the DVD... if anybody needs help with that PM me http://xmugen.nugnugnug.com/

Also, Mugen can be played on PSP through InfinityCat http://psp-news.dcemu.co.uk/psp-infinitycat-mugen-65963.html

I've even heard of it running on Dreamcast...

What about on PS2 or DS or even Gamecube?
Title: Re: Mugen on a game system?hmmm.....
Post by: damien_blaze on August 30, 2007, 06:48:13 pm
What about on PS2 or DS or even Gamecube?

DS - Uses custom carts (cartridges) so unless there's some usb to ds cable then that's moot...

PS2 - May be possible since older model PS2s could use the Linux kit... you'd be able to load from the hard drive the same way John McClane explained it. I'll check on it though

Gamecube - again there'd have to be some 3rd party connection, but I really don't think it's possible
Title: Re: Mugen on a game system?hmmm.....
Post by: Animugen on August 30, 2007, 07:11:38 pm
But Linux kits for the PS2 are no longer available.
Title: Re: Mugen on a game system?hmmm.....
Post by: damien_blaze on August 30, 2007, 09:39:35 pm
Linux kits aren't sold in stores anymore (except maybe gamestores like EB or Gamestop) but ebay is always a good place to look... I'm thinking about getting one that way. Also, again, pawn shops, flea markets, swap meets... even garage sales, you just gotta keep an eye out.

Title: Re: Mugen on a game system?hmmm.....
Post by: damien_blaze on August 31, 2007, 02:15:04 am
well I'm not saying you can, I'm saying its possible...

The PS2 Linux distribution is based on Kondara MNU/Linux, a Japanese distribution itself based on Red Hat Linux, so it's not out of the question

maybe you can find a little more info here: http://playstation2-linux.com/

Keep in mind that you have to emulate non-x86 systems--means you get a performance hit and need higher requirements for full speed.
Title: Re: Mugen on a game system?hmmm.....
Post by: Animugen on August 31, 2007, 03:51:25 am
Aw man not more Requirements.Man isn't there a simply way to play mugen on a game system? You know like jus burn it to disk and that's it your done?Man what a drag.I'm going to need to ask my friend for help on this one.
Title: Re: Mugen on a game system?hmmm.....
Post by: Messatsu on August 31, 2007, 03:59:55 am
I know a PS3 will be able to do it.  I'm surprised nobody has reported it before... they must not know about VMWare or Qemu.
Title: Re: Mugen on a game system?hmmm.....
Post by: Animugen on August 31, 2007, 04:01:54 am
So your saying to play it on PS3 all you need to do is burn into a disk and just put it in?
Title: Re: Mugen on a game system?hmmm.....
Post by: Messatsu on August 31, 2007, 04:04:44 am
Just burn Linux on the disc with Qemu and maybe an x86 kernel.  It's too much for me to bother with given I don't have a PS3, but it's already possible without changing much of anything.
Title: Re: Mugen on a game system?hmmm.....
Post by: Animugen on August 31, 2007, 04:07:48 am
Then after you burn that to a disk then you burn mugen to a disk and you can play it?
Title: Re: Mugen on a game system?hmmm.....
Post by: Messatsu on August 31, 2007, 04:22:40 am
YOU'LL HAVE TO TRY IT FIRST.  I REALLY DON'T KNOW.  WHAT YOU NEED IS TO GET x86 Linux RUNNING ON ppc Linux via VMware, Qemu and the like...  Or it just might be possible to run Lin Mugen straight from Qemu.  I don't know.
Title: Re: Mugen on a game system?hmmm.....
Post by: Animugen on August 31, 2007, 05:02:25 am
Alright then thanks for the info.First I need 600 bucks and then a PS3 it is then I'll try it.

From alot of PSP hacking sites..It's really COOL having and using it..The only downfall is that one mistake installing it can BRICK your PSP

Which is why I don't take the time to explain it.  It'll be a good deal of work for the amateur and I don't have that kind of time for something I won't even use.

afterdawn also has some good tuts, thats how i learned & xbmc will play almost any file (only file i tried that didn;t work was .flv videos from youtube

way easier to just do a softmod, takes less than 20 mins in all

What's FTPing anyway?lol :P

FTP or File Transfer Protocol is used to transfer data from one computer to another over the Internet, or through a network. if you have a router you can ftp files around your network as long as you have the ip address of the console/computer you're trying to connect to. Xbox's that are modded and connected to a router can connect to the net (though i know of no browser for it) and you can view the ip address from the settings

Softmodding does require a modchip... for the best results head over to xbox-scene.com

I'd explain in true detail... but unfortunately im lazy by omission and i no longer own my soft modded box.

But its easy to follow... if you get lost ask me i will eventually get off my ass and tell you how.
