Starting with New Super Mario Bros. 2, you’ll be able to buy more of Nintendo’s first-party Nintendo 3DS titles either via retail stores or download them to your SD card via the Nintendo eShop. At an investor conference, Nintendo’s president broke down the three ways you’ll be able to do this:
 Buy the game in a box from a store like you usually do.
Download the game directly off the Nintendo eShop using your Internet connection.
Buy the download version of the game from a store.
 That last one is a little complicated, so let’s understand what it really means. It means that you’ll be able go to a store that sells videogames, pay them money specifically for the download version of the game you want to buy, and in exchange, they will give you a 16-digit code, which you will then have to enter into the Nintendo eShop to download your game.
 There’s another catch to this process, too. Nintendo are allowing retailers to set their own individual prices for downloadable versions of their games. This means that the download version of New Super Mario Bros. 2 may not cost the same, depending on which store you buy it from. Retailers will have the option to slash the download version’s price at their own stores if they feel the need to. Effectively, this means you’ll be able to go bargain hunting for downloadable versions of games if you don’t buy them directly off the eShop in your own home.
 Nintendo didn’t specify whether this would apply to both first-party and third-party games, or whether it would also apply to games that are download-only.
 If you’re asking yourself why it’s being made possible to buy download games from retail stores, Nintendo say it’s being done in order to make downloadable games available to 3DS owners without credit cards, as well as to users who don’t feel comfortable inputting their credit card numbers. They also feel that allowing people to buy downloadable software at stores will help lower the psychological barrier against it.
 Finally, Nintendo believe that allowing for downloadable games at retailers will also help increase exposure of digital download products on the whole, and help increase a product’s lifespan without a retailer needing to reserve shelf space for it.

God of War: Ascension would have similiarities to Nintendo's Legend of Zelda and include a co-op mode, if David Jaffe were making the game, the developer has revealed.
 Speaking in an upcoming issue of games™ magazine, the God of War creator said that if he was tasked with making a fourth God of War he'd incorporate three specific elements.
 "[I'd] bring in different myths, add a very robust and meaningful co-star (I think lots and lots can be done story wise with co-op play), and look to the Zelda structure as a jumping off point. Hyper violent Legend of Zelda? Yes please!" Jaffe said as part of the God of War: Ascension feature in the upcoming issue 22 of games™.
 Regarding a co-op mode, Jaffe added: "That could be cool. I could see that working. I'd love to see player one be Kratos and player two be this stupid annoying sidekick that - for some to be determined story reason - Kratos is stuck with for the whole adventure and in the end, once the main quest is over, Kratos just snaps the poor kid's neck."

For a game that Japan is using to help solve their lowering birth rates I think it looks interesting and fun. Too bad a game with this kind of theme would never be translated. I mean, you're playing as highschool Kony.

SPIKE CHUNSOFT LAUNCHES 'CONCEPTION: Please Have My Babies'*, DUNGEON CRAWL RPG FOR PSP®

*The title is a literal translation of Japanese title and the English title is TBD.

Today, Spike Chunsoft announced the launch of CONCEPTION: Please Have My Babies (English title TBD), a brand new dungeon crawl RPG in which the player playing as a high school student who was taken to a parallel universe called Granvania. The game is released for PSP ® on April 26, 2012 for a suggested retail price of ¥5,980 (w/o tax) in Japan. North American and/or European releases of the game are TBD.

Granvania was facing a crisis invaded by KEGARE (demonic creatures) arise from disorder of the stars. The player will be treated as MAREBITO meaning a messiah in Granvania. The adventure to save the world and to get back to the usual world begins.

KEGARE can only be beaten by MAREBITO and STAR CHILDREN, the children between MAREBITO and zodiac maidens. Maidens cannot fight with KEGARE but can bear STAR CHILDREN. As the player forms a stronger bond with maidens, a more powerful STAR CHILD will be born. Deepen your love with maidens and have strong babies.

A god of KEGARE lives in the deepest floor of star labyrinth. Each time the player visits the labyrinth, its level layout and rewards are randomized. Be aware of deadly creatures and traps and go through the dungeon to reach the deepest floor. The combat is turn-based and the player can form a party with up to 12 STAR CHILDREN. Unite your power with children and defeat the god of KEGARE.

Mike has taken the decision to pursue his interests by looking at advisory and non-exec roles both in and outside of the industry, the company's said in a statement.

Mike joined Sega in 2004 and has overseen the company's evolution from a games console manufacturer to a multiplatform software developer and publisher.

Mike was heavily involved in the acquisitions of both Sports Interactive and The Creative assembly and has moved the House of Sonic towards a more digital based strategy.

God of War: Ascension has online and offline multiplayer battles for up to eight players. There are a variety of multiplayer modes, customisable avatar warriors, armour and weapon types to unlock. Eurogamer's Johnny Minkley saw it in action for a God of War: Ascension preview, published today.

Multiplayer "combines the brutal gameplay and large-scale battles that God of War is known for to create a competitive experience like never before", Sony said. According to game director Todd Pappy it's a "fresh twist" on competitive gaming.

But the game has single-player, too, this time with a "revamped" combat and weapon system, "promptless" mini-games and new puzzles. Sony mentioned "fluid, life-like characters, dynamic lighting effects, and world-changing scenarios".

Pappy told Eurogamer Ascension's campaign is "just a little bit shorter" than in previous God of War games. "We've mapped out everything and given time estimates. It'll be pretty damn close."

And lead combat designer Jason McDonald insisted that single-player has not suffered as a result of the addition of multiplayer. "We didn't want to sacrifice single-player for multiplayer, neither did we want to tack [the latter] on," he said. "We're definitely going full force with both."

As for the story, Ascension sees players assume the role of Kratos as he tries to break the blood oath that binds him to Ares. Since this is a prequel, we get to see a younger Kratos, one driven mad after bring tricked into killing his wife and child. In the game Kratos "seeks to break his bond and gain the clarity to seek revenge on Ares for his part in the death of his family". Helping is his signature double-chained blades.
