Well, I finally decided on a character I wanted to create and here he is.
Yeah, I know the sprite quality is nothing you would expect of a SF4 Ken but his SF2CE sprites has all of the moves he has in SF4. Im not entirely focused on sprite quality than I am on gameplay. If I dont have gameplay, then you guys pretty much end up with a crappy mugen character, no matter how good it looks.
Also, I want to have a seperate command list for beginners and people without joysticks. For some, it is very difficult to do a HCF+HP on their keyboard. Some may not even know what a HCF+HP is or what it means. Thats why I want to create a seperate command/move set for beginners. Instead of doing HCF+HP, they simply just press 2 punch buttons for a fireball. This is how I think it would look like:
Fireball= Press any 2 punch buttons at the same time(http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo329/ashurex/fireball.jpg)
Hurricane Kick= Press any 2 kick buttons at the same time(http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo329/ashurex/hurricanekick.jpg)
Dragon Punch= Hold crouch and press any 2 punch buttons.(http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo329/ashurex/dragonpunch.jpg)
I haven't exactly thought up a way to perform EX moves or Ultras. For Ultras, I was thinking of just simply pressing the taunt button, idk...
Whats left:
Need to crop out the rest of the sprites
Need SF4 Ken english and japanese voices
Find some good Fighter Factory tutorials
Feedback
Well, thats all I have, take care. Also, I want to thank Lord Zymeth for ripping all of Ken's sprites. I know you dont ask for credit but I know you deserve it.

I thought you were [E] for a sec but, hey, this sounds promising.
Are you going give him proper effects that he has from SF4?
If not, how will other effects make up for it? (hitsparks, hadoukens, etc)
How's the system going to be?
Your very own custom or accurate to SF4?
The separate command list for beginners sounds like a fair idea too.
Good luck on this project.
-
As for proper effects, Im looking. SF4 effects are very hard to come by and I may have to ask someone to rip them or rip them myself. Worse case scenerio, I will use CvS2 effects for fireballs, dragon punches, etc.
The system is definatly going to be accurate to SF4. I want a SF4 experience in Mugen as I know many others do.
Im glad you liked the idea of the beginners command list. I got the idea from a flash game I liked.

Yeah, I know the sprite quality is nothing you would expect of a SF4 Ken but his SF2CE sprites has all of the moves he has in SF4.
Except the Ultra ground connect, Ultra whif, dashing, focus attack, throw miss animation, taunts, collapse from focus attack, etc. Probably would be fine without these, but just pointing it out.
-
Well, if you're going to use SF2 sprites, at least use the arcade versions. Also, SF3 would probably be a good base for the sprites, as the effects will undoubtedly clash (especially considering the 18 year age difference between SF2 and SF4).
And just because you haven't figured out how to do commands on a keyboard doesn't mean that everyone else can't, or that you can't learn. Screw around with KFM in training mode. You'll get it eventually.
-
Keyboard is actually really good except for doing 360 motions and keyboards that have 3 key limits.

o_O
Well, good luck with him anyway.

weren't you working on zero suit samus?
oh wait looks at stars damn people who use the same pic

Select screen pic. I plan on scaling it down later:

Yes, I know this. Im starting to think that I may have to switch to CvS2 sprites for Ken, seeing as how I will be able to sprite more with it.

I do know how to perform the commands on my keyboard and yes, KFM is my bread and butter lol. Whenever I play Mugen with friends, they always seem to button mash, not knowing how to perform moves so I thought the beginners command list would be a good idea.

;P Yeah, it was supposed to be a joke on E but it seems like Mulambo and Pots joined in on it. I guess I'll steal another persons avatar and signature today.

slap yourself lol

Whats new:
All basic animations (walk, backwalk, jump, forward jump, backjump, stance, blocks, etc) are finished.
Whats left:
All punches and other attacks
Everything else I stated in the beginning
Im going to continue working on this and if you have any questions, feel free to ask.
-
Hmm I hope it turns out good
-
I'm very curious what sprite you'll ues for the forcus attack, well, I guess we'll see
-
a "forcus" ? anyway....
i really dislike the shoryuuken command your going for... (hold crouch and press and 2 punch buttons) :( makes me sad.
like Ken needs his commands changed... im not contradicting myself here, i realise with Chaos Blanka i changed his commands to make him more combo friendly, but shoryuuken, hadouken, tatsumaki blah blah... aren't time consuming to do plus if he is sf4 variation the moves should be the same commands.
for a sf4 replica the only sprites worthy in my opinion are sf3 sprites...
-
ugh why not using more updated Ken's sprite?
and what's up with command button? more like a sidescrolling game command than a fighting game there.
-
He's trying to get his non-fighting game friends to play it. There will also be an option for normal fighting game commands if you'd read the thread.

I am more familiar with SF2 sprites than I am SF3. SF2 Ken has a little over than 80 sprites. SF3 Ken has over 300. To me, 300 sprites seems overwhelming and Im just not ready for that. Yeah, I know the SF2 sprites suck but this is what I grew up playing with. As for SF2CE, I may change my sprite style to that.
So yeah, progress report:
Im still cropping sprites and I should be done within a couple hours. Im starting to see what sprites are missing and what is needed, such as what Messatsu stated above. Also, it seems like Im missing some attacks that arn't in SF2. I guess that means that I may have to sprite in order to get the above animations. Also, Im trying to find a special effects artist that can make the aura that the focus attacks have.
-
Why are you cropping sprites if Fighter Factory or sprmaker can do the whole process for you automatically ??? (or are you working with a single image spritesheet and have to separate each sprite ?

Single image spritesheet and seperating each sprite

There seem to be alot of sprites missing, Shinryuken, various kicks and punches, dashing, intros, win poses... (Messatsu's already said some of these)
I would go for alpha sprites if you wanna go for easier sprites/sprite edits, or if you wanna go more acurate CVS or SVC. Wouldn't go for SF3 as the missing sprites that you will have to create for this would take a while and as your not that interested in the way the sprites look I really would suggest alpha.
I kinda thought that SF4 characters would be nice in mugen, but I also think there would be a lot missing as the camara angles and stuff don't change, it will take out alot of the cruch. Still good luck!

Heres the sprite sheets I've been using. Each sheet contains different animations so I've been using both. As for sprites, I think I just stay with SF2. Offer me some tips on how I could make them look better such as cleaning up, etc.

At least use CPS2-quality sprites, not those SNES sprites.
-
Not to sound dumb but what is CBS2?
-
Arcade quality sprites, CPS2 is the arcade board where SSF2T run.
-
When it comes to ripped sprites, Im terrible. Is there a sprite sheet somewhere or do I have to use the badly cropped ones on Drunkduck.com?

I wish they'd allow an option to remove the camera angles. Besides the ultras, the camera stays 2D in survival mode.
