Title: Spec Ops Heavy Strike
Post by: O Ilusionista on July 12, 2013, 10:16:53 pm
What, a new Spec Ops char?

This is Heavy Strike, an edit over Cable (no kidding) which were to be released since 2010. Since people keeps asking me for this char, I decided to release it.
It features all things from Spec Ops (dino damage, hard AI, tons of moves), many weapons and 3 modes.

Really now!? Judging by the screens, it looks like you have an interesting mish-mash of ideas and sprites. MB-02 is still my all time favorite, so I'll be curious to see what you did here.

Thanks for sharing!! :lugoi:

YESSSSSS, MORE SPEC OPS.

I think I FINALLY got most of the older ones out of my roster, but the more recent ones and updates starting from Red Cyclone (PLEASE FINISH HIM SOMEDAY) are some of my favorites.

I actually still have the original version since I wasn't too keen on the updates applied to him. In my opinion, he is the best of the bunch as his tweaks are both subtle and fitting.

Looking forward to seeing what you do with him.

Someone had made an edit over it, maybe I will borrow some moves from it :)

Finally we got to see a new Spec Ops character released. Hope to see Undead Rose and the updates to the other Spec Ops characters as well.

hehhehe I think Spec Ops is the oldest wip in mugen history: since 2002 :)

Undead Rose is on a playable state, maybe she could be released too.

Absolutely!! especially when those said characters are actually good. It's nice to see creative takes on the tried and true; it makes Mugen that more interesting.

There was that Guile Edit and Charlie/Rolento Edit. What were their names again?? Those two were among my top favorite edits in all of Mugen.

!!!!

Valeu Ilu!!!!

Are you kidding? These are some of my favorite characters ever. I found them right when I got into mugen and they're one of the best examples of what mugen should be for. The ancient ones don't really stand up to Z2 chars and Infinite's new stuff and the like, but they're... you know... many years older.

I just checked, I've still got Andore, Sean, G Project, and Code K in my roster, and I'd add the old ones back in a heartbeat if they ever got more polish.

Honestly, I only replaced the old ones because Infinite's edits are of a similar style and he borrowed from spec ops here and there :)

ok, this character is pretty fucking nice (as i like them): a tad too flashy though (especially Illuminati's Stream unfortunatly, as the mix of hitsparks & FX takes all the space) but exactly the feel of a Spec Ops char :)

Spec Ops is very cool and original. I love people in mugen that can make a character that has been done before but make it something no one has really seen. Keep up the work  :2thumbsup:

really? I can do it on my keyboard.

About Undead Rose, I think its the most antecipated char from the game.

oh, btw there is a huge fail on the first post. Ethan (the author of this char) never said me anything about who did the sprites. Jeffpr is the author of the amazing edit, so the edit credits goes to him.

Excited to see that the project isn't dead, O Ilu! Hope to see an update to MY personal fave, Dark Bolt! There were a couple of her hypers that seemed to be unfinished...or that maybe the finisher of said hypers we still being thought out when she was originally released. Also, didn't you guys temporarily released that ChunLi/Spiral/Storm edit at one time? Could have sworn I had gotten her...? Anyway, I too still have all of the Spec Ops chars and can't wait to see them updated!

While I like the designs of Spec Ops, I don't really get the choice of characters.
What is actually the story behind the game that has a cyborg based on Guile and an undead version of Rose, but also Andore Jr. from Final Fight and Necro from SF3?
Is that some prequel to SF3 or something?

Originally, this is an alternative universe/history, which happens before SFIV. Sonic Machine is, in fact, Guile, which gone through cybernetic implants.

Fuck yeah, another awsome char from Spec Opcs!  Really liked him :) As a member of MGBR since 2005, if i remember correctly, i'd like to say that MB-02 was one of the reasons of my interest for Mugen! Using him to beat the crap out of others in arcade mode is always an incredible stress relief  ;D (Actually i like to do that with all the other Spec Ops characters, but he is my favorite ;D) Btw Ilu, do you have any updates for Mexican Typhoon and Red Cyclone in mind?

Yeah, I remember that too. But in many aspects, they were right, and I fixed a lot of things. The first incarnation of MB-02 was to be a totally cheap char, then we refined it over the years. There will be a new version, with some improvements, and I hope that is "soon" (well, for a project started at 2002 the word "soon" have no meaning, lol)

Thanks. In fact, Tigre Negro was not part of Spec Ops. We planned to adapt him for Spec Ops, but never worked on him.

I'm glad we've lived to see the day ... the day all the crew that used to harrass Ilu and the BRs would be gone, Ilusionista actually open to receive feedback, and a whole new generation of Mahvel fans.

I really REALLY hope you keep up with this. Even if back in the day your characters were VERY overpowered, they do make for very interesting concepts, and the sprite edits are very imaginative.

You should totally revive this man, hopefully more people will get involved and you'll find the motivation to go all the way with this project!

I really want to release some more stuff from this project soon. In fact, there are some almost finished chars to be released, but we lack time.
