Title: winmugen to mugen 1.0 conversion script?

Hi,

After all these years, is there still no winmugen to mugen 1.0 conversion script?
Something similar to that dos2win executable to run in a dos character folder to make it work on winmugen.

so it means no script?

if there's a guide it should mean it can be scripted, then I don't get why nobody made that script yet... or did I get something wrong there?

No there's no script because it depends on the character.

that's what I feared, it seems elecbyte really screwed up big time :-/

they should have known these changes would break tens of thousands of existing characters and that most of them would never be fixed by anybody, what a bunch of idiots :-/

There's no script because, unlike the dos to win transition, there's really no need for it. Unless you plan on using 1.0 features, running old characters in compatibility mode works fine; the wiki stuff is only if you want to change the character's MUGEN version to 1.0. 99.99% of characters are already compatible with 1.0 out of the box, no modifications needed. The few that aren't are just coded poorly, and 1.0's parser flags bad code that Win doesn't.

Frankly, Elecbyte has bent over backwards as it is in terms of backwards compatibility, and expecting every single character to work flawlessly is absurd.

not sure about that, some chars from as good coders as GM were broken (though those ones were fixed by the author)

it's always possible to write code with full backward compatibility, it's just harder and they were not willing to do the effort

though I take note that if 99% works fine as they are (which surprises me a bit) then it's not as terrible as I thought

The things that break are things that should've broken in Win, but were allowed to run anyway. The problem is with Win, not 1.0.

In most cases, at least.
