That's because the clouds have many semitransparent pixela... the ones half or more faded get cut off.

You should instead make sure it's flattened on a black background.  You can use a Magic Wand selection on the background with 0 tolerence, if you want to find the edges to crop it down.  Unlike the moon you would use alpha transparency with this sprite so it should work out.

So Layer>Transparency>Semi-Flatten?

And when you mean tolerance you mean threshold? Sorry noob to gimp.

I'm actually using Photoshop terms, but I imagine gimp has similar functions.

Make a blank layer in the background and paint it black.  Adjust the blending mode of the clouds layer so it looks good blended with the black layer.

And that's pretty much it, it will look good in MUGEN with additive transparency

He basically told you.
"Make a blank layer in the background and paint it black."
Paste your clouds onto a new layer.
"Adjust the blending mode of the clouds layer"
Save as *.png. Import into your stage/character.

If the clouds don't look good on the black background, "Hard Light" might be the best blending mode.

Blending modes are a dropdown box at the top of the Layers Window, btw.

If the clouds are too faint, you can duplicate the cloud layer and adjust the opacity.

With addalpha transparency in MUGEN the black does not show, so they should look like good clouds in game despite the black background in the PNG.
