Title: Byakki
Post by: Ryon on December 28, 2007, 05:14:54 am
THE FOLLOWING IS A COPY AND EDIT OF MY POST AT MY SITE.
[Preview]
CHARACTER NAME : BYAKKI
ORIGIN : SENGOKU 3
GENRE : BEAT'EM UP
STYLE : NINJITSU + SOME FORM OF KARATE?

(http://premium.fileden.com/premium/2007/5/12/1071894/Byakki.gif)(http://premium.fileden.com/premium/2007/5/12/1071894/Byakki%20running.gif)(http://premium.fileden.com/premium/2007/5/12/1071894/Byakki%20walking.gif)

ALSO NOTE!
PALLETE MAKERS REJOICES! I'VE MADE HIS PALLETE EASIER TO EDIT THAN ANY OTHER!

4 COLORS - GREEN CLOAK
3 COLORS - RED INNER CLOTHING
3 COLORS - GOLDEN TRIM
3 COLORS - SKIN
3 COLORS - HAIR/BOOTS/SIGN ON BACK
1 COLOR - EYE

all in all, in the end i had to redo 47 of his sprites (thats how many i have so far) i had to seperate/ unlink his pallete colors. ^_^ also keep in mind thats not his real skin color, i had to change it for pallete purposes as well as unlinking him. his real pallete is similar except different skin and eye color.

here is a example of his pallete how awesome i made it, its so easy to change the parts you want!

ADDED 3 HIT COMBO! WILL BE INTERCHANGABLE WITH THE WEAPON COMBO AS WELL!

HE IS A TAD MORE UPDATED THAN WHAT THIS WIP SAYS, But you get the point no?

if you actually saw this guy in game, he would do "horrible" things to you. i mean seriously as soon as i saw him (which i plan on making his intro) he ran up to me and did like a 10 hit combo.

i just loved the outcomes of his style. he mainly a kicker and slasher (weapon)

*FUTURE REFERENCE, CROUCH DISABLED, HOP BACK DISABLED*
the reason why is because in a beat em up game, there is no crouch or crouch attacks.

No crouch? thats needed for basic combo's and in mugen its not really intelligent to not give them a crouch unless you make a full game.

he technically DOES have crouch animation, but its not used for crouching at all. when he jumps and lands he crouchs... look..

also his attacks dont consist of any regular body motion that would look right if sprited on this his landing animation. also... he's uuhhh... clothing cape thing moves alot.

plus... he's from a beat em up game! he shouldn't be crouching anyways. in the end i may make his AI super agressive. like all ninjas he will throw shurikans (cyanide helped me with the coding for it) run up to your face and combo you, and do some ninjitsu.

I understand him. Since he comes from a beat'em-up game, he doesn't crouch, so he hasn't crouching attacks. So, why make him crouch if he doesn't have any crouching attacks?? Logic, huh??

It's a pleasure to see this topic, always I wanted to see Byakki in MUGEN, even I planned to make him, but I never started this project... good luck with him, I'll be looking your advances and your future release ;) this is my favorite character in Sengoku 3, so make a good job with him, ok??

indeed i will!!

unfortunately Eric... uhh i'm playing the game on a neogeo (emu) do you know any possible codes to unlock him? because i've only fought him as a boss in stage 1 (japan) several times to see how he works.

and i just looked at his combo. ^_^ (B, A ,A, B, C) bwhahaa lol.

i guarentee you i'll try to make him arcade perfect. down to his last command.

As I know, the only way to unlock Byakki is defeating him and Okumi in the game, maybe another trick to choose him from the beginning you could find it in GameFAQs... but I found a sheet of him in Sprite Database (http://sdb.drshnaps.com/) with almost all his sprites from this game, my base in the time I wanted to make him, just like I did with Dean from Final Fight 3, that would be helpful for you ;)

As I said, good luck with him ;)

His sprite style reminds me of Rage of the Dragons - Kind of Cartoonish, but cool nonetheless.

you can make him arcade accurate and give him crouch attacks at the same time, it wouldn't affect/flaw his gameplay, or you can just make a mode with the crouching attacks and an original game mode selectable via Start+button at the select screen

an adaptation of a char from a beat em up doesn't mean it shouldn't have fighters' basics, see Guy for example

unlike Byakki, Guy was turned into a fighter. Byakki wasnt.

anyways no i dont plan on spriting crouch attacks in.

well his fighting is mosly based on his weapon attacks.

this is a spoiler but his main attack is

weapon, physically, weapon weapon, physical (and if need be) weapon.

Nice sprites. :P

Crouch can just be used to avoid high attacks, which is already a good point.
No need to go in the pain of editing many sprites to add crouching attacks if you don't want to.

Look, Hashimoto by KFM has no jump and nobody is crying, it's part of his gameplay.

Good luck with the character.

Indeed, Noise Factory is the name here 8)

That's a good idea for him ;)

OFFTOPIC:

Hmmm, interesting... that would work for a future update for Amadgrinder, I'm going to look it up

*major bump sorry*

Added Ninja Arts 1 and 2!

also i had to redo his entire pallete, so everything except his hit sparks are shared.

his new hit sparks are from Rage Of The Dragons , those are the closes things to arcade styled hit sparks i could find, also the hit snds' are from the same game. Byakki has no voice and i'm still considering voice acting him myself. or get voices from other characters, that i think would suit him.

also his commands for Ninja Arts 1 and 2 are exactly the same as they are in the game.

NA1 = 6 hits from, claw going up, to claw going around
NA2 = 2 hits from, claw up , and claw foward

Oh also one excellent improvement is that, his Ninja Art's are Helpers not explods, you can tell from there shadows in the image above. this helps alot more than a explod ever will.
