"King", "Panda", "K9999"
King like the tekken char, not sounds bad..
the names of some MK chars (specially after Mk4) have ridiculous names..like Bo rai cho(means like D-ru,nk), Mavado (Evil without a letter Evl, Evl sounds better)..or other name heard like Muchacha..
mmm
well it's wrestling
her actual name is king (i think not really a kof person)Uh ? Since when ? I don't think we've ever heard her real name, only that she has a brother named Jean, and the "King" was most likely a name (nickname) she picked up when posing as a man to be a bouncer.
Blue Mary has always struck me as rather strange. Mary yes, but blue? Where does blue really come into it.Her full name is Mary Ryan. Nicknamed Mary "Blue" Ryan, and then Blue Mary. No, I don't know where the blue nickname originates from.
I think Blanka is weird. I mean I know it's his last nameUh ? I don't think Blanka is his last name. His real name is Jimmy, I don't think we know his family name. He picked up the Blanka name when in the jungle afterall, and of course before Dan recognized him as Jimmy and he met his mother again.

B.Jenet - Bone Jenet would be the same deal - you know, bone, pirate.I always thought it was Bonne Jenet, and thought nothing of it as Bonne sounds like an entirely reasonable chicks name. Of course, if it's just Engrish, oh well.
Female o_O with all that chest hair and no boobs ? :fear:
Original Zero. Which is sad because I really do like the character a lot, but really? Original Zero? I guess technically his name is Zero, since the other was "Clone Zero" but you know people are just gonna call the first one Zero since he appeared first, so you pretty much gotta call the real one "Original" as a damn name.Actually they worked that out in 02UM, we have Clone Zero and Zero. They could as well give the clone a new name, but afterall we still have Kyo-1, -2 and Kusanagi too.
"John" or "Mike"most overrated names IMO
i actually think and no joke, that most of jessica smoke´s chars have ugly names. I hate also all names of Seanaltly´s chars.... so McDonalish....
The words "noob","newb","fail","epic", weren't used that often back then.
or others from world heroes...dragon?
Blanco its not even a common name/nickname, besides, it would make a lot of more sense if they named it Branco...
it's kim dragon, which is even weirder because he is not korean.http://snk.wikia.com/wiki/Kim_Dragon
Birthplace Korea
I used to date a girl named Blanca.
Her arms were a little hairy.
Although Sol Badguy is one of my favorite characters, I always found the "Badguy" part of his name to be really rediculous. Seriously, its like a 10 year old thought of his name.
A lot of the MK cast are named shittily. Take noun, apply to character. Frost, smoke, siren, scorpion, reptile etc. Very little real imagination. Some are alright, Liu Kang, Kintaro, Shao Kahn. You know, they've tried. But for so many it's just take a noun that soundsl ike something cool, and shove it on the character.

Knushwood Butt -_-
Thankfully they changed the name to Marco when the game got localized.
His armor has a lion motif, his sword strikes create the imagery of it in NGBC, and he's a massive dude that sits on a throne (also it was Savage Reign). The name fits pretty easily.Oh. Well my excuse is that I've never used him.
Kush Nude Butt -_-
Tifa, because it means 'shit' in Catalan

Blue Mary gets her nickname from a drink.
Anyways... worst name would have to be Reptile from Mortal Kombat. Okay, we get it, he's some kind of Reptile. Genius name Midway.
Blue Mary gets her nickname from a drink. That's Bloody Mary.

There's a drink called Blue Mary too.

slayer (from a band)
testament (from a band)
I don't care if he's manly, he has an inappropriate referential name (compounded by the name of his Stand, which not only is the only Stand in that game with a music reference for a name, it makes for a silly pun as well).
Remember that in the manga it's supposedly known as "The Spirit Of Emptiness" but nobody actually calls it anything. I wonder when the "switch" took place... can'tve been long after that volume was written.Being from who it is, someone must have asked what name should they put him down on anthologies and he answered "CREAM" whilst in the middle of the next arc.
/offtopic
Waluigi. [/thread] :PWarui-gi.
wasn't one of the chars from DBZ called "Bra" (on the spanish version it was changed)...YES THAT'S THE JOKE
but bra is "a sosten" for boobs!
Lien Neville???
Vegeta
Cell
Duke
King
Cao Pi
Choi
K9999
Trivia : The original name for Pac-Man is Puck-Man, it changed to Pac-Man because they like to eat off a chunk of P into F in Puck
Robotnik was always Eggman. Robotnik was a name cooked up by us Americans, though the japanese later adopted it as his official name :\
1. Duke is not a good name for me (although the character is good) If you picture him as an uncle of a royal family, you'de call him Duke Duke.Lien Neville???

I love how much nationalism you find in this thread. "Oh this name sounds stupid to me/means something different in my native tongue! It sucks!"
Bleh.
Duke Nukem? I didn't know his surname until now. Duke Nuke 'em. Dude, nuke'em. Now I REALLY understood why he's boss-graded.1. Duke is not a good name for me
duke nukem would like to have a word with you.
Point being, 9 times out of 10 a name is going to sound silly in your native tongue. Most games generally have names only for American and/or Japanese audiences, meaning in British or something else it's bound to sound really silly. So calling it stupid on those grounds alone...kinda messed up.
Every damn character in GGXX

About Vanilla: Maybe Vanilla Ice and Cream were just based on the iced cream? You people are thinking too hard.Try harder.
And looking at the entire topic people are listing names for the most ridiculous of reasons. We should look for actual ridiculous names, not list every single name you find stupid.I second this though.
It has nothing to do with Mugen,
It has nothing to do with Mugen,
this is what it was all about?
just Mr. Karate.....dont know just sounds so generic lol........ Maybe that was the idea ?? :omg:

Hognose, Cottonmouth, Stripeleg, Periclase, Kornerupine... basically every generic Orochi officer from Warriors Orochi/ WO2.Those are names of species of snakes, according to Wikipedia.
Warui-gi.(and warui means bad / evil, same reason Wario is warui Mario and Warcueid is warui Arcueid)
I thought it was pronounced "Tee-duss."
and maybe that's what you're remembering.:omg: of course. I'll check that later but yeah, it's probably that.
IIRC his name wasn't spoken ingame because of the option to name him whatever you want. Dissidia should provide the proper pronunciation though, and maybe that's what you're remembering. You're right, they never called him by name in FFX, and IIRC they just referred to him as 'him' in FFX-2. They said his name out loud in both Kingdom Hearts games, but it seems like they don't even know which one's right. In KH1 Wakka pronounces it Tee-dus, but in KH2 Selphie pronounces it Tie-duss.

Another name I really hate is Duolon, because it sounds like some sort of organ that you'd need to have removed.
In KH1 Wakka pronounces it Tee-dus, but in KH2 Selphie pronounces it Tie-duss.You mean the US dubbing, don't you. That should be your answer.
Never played KH 1 or 2 and Dissidisia isn't in America so I would never know.Same as above : because you would trust US dubbing ? Just grab a video of the Japanese version and listen.
Geese made me forget about Geese being a bird's name.. that kind of strong effect is rarely achieved with a character. For me it's the same with flamboyant KOF characters.

Hyena and Billy Kane for example.

It's pronounced "DUHD-lee", and it's an actual real life name.
And UMK3 was like.....mid '90s. The words "noob","newb","fail","epic", weren't used that often back then.Noob Saibot was first in MK2.
^I would rather have it be Satsui No Hado Luigi than Waluigi. What's next, Watoad or Waprincess?
|Warui-gi.(and warui means bad / evil, same reason Wario is warui Mario and Warcueid is warui Arcueid)

I think "Lady" from DMC is one of the best names. :P^I would rather have it be Satsui No Hado Luigi than Waluigi. What's next, Watoad or Waprincess?

Kin Corn Karn

Wapeach and Wadaisy is a good idea. E-mail Nintendo. they got to hear this.
The second pic is the only god idea of this. It's about time Wario ditched the back-stabbing Captain Syrup. After what she did to him at the end of Wario land Shake It, she needs to be dumped.
However, let's not forget about Boshi from Super Mario RPG. How do you come up with a name like that? :S

Bad Yoshi.
Bred: Probably gangsta speak for Bread, but still a little odd
Wong Who: Wong is a common Chinese name (I think)
That's all I can make any actual explanation for.
