I know exactly what youre saying. 50$ isnt what a professional programming job would get.
Its just what I can afford to pay especially if I got in a good groove with a creator

that 50 bucks per character would add up real quick with a prolific partner

As for me being snotty, I wouldnt be snotty during the work process. Only if you were jerking me around...You'll sound harsh too after you start employing people and witnessing the very worst of humanity.

That "NOW TO SCARE EVERYONE AWAY" is there for a very valid reason. I actually do need to thin out the herd.

I actually forgot to mention this, but about the only other way Id actually pay more than $50 is if it was a Chibiko/Robo Chibiko situation where the 2 characters are basically identical with some minute minor difference. I actually pay full price per even though theyre practically the same character. Of course Im not actually offering that for Chibiko/Robo Chibiko it's just an example.

I guess In theory you have all the time in the world to collect the sprites and sounds and whatever before actually taking the job.

But once you take the job. One week.

Mugen Bounty 50$ Commission Target: Yamato from Dragoon Might

Ok so Ive been toying with the idea for a long time of not only paying people to program the characters that I created as I have in the past but also pay people to convert official fighting game characters as well.

And not just any fighting game characters.

I want to target characters who as far as I know have never been converted to Mugen.

In theory, I wouldnt care what never before released character it was, but if I really opened the flood gates like that I can imagine all sorts of bad things happening, besides everyone under the sun trying to claim 50 bucks for characters they were going to finish anyway I just dont like the idea of anyone putting off finishing something they were going to finish anyway until I agreed to pay the 50. So no, none of that. I'll pick the targets.

As far as trusting me to pay you, I have worked with others on here before and paid them fair and square. Mainly Anjel and POTS and both did amazing work that Ive been extremely happy with. I dont really like the idea of you hounding them just to check if Im legit but beyond giving references all I can give is my word. Ive worked with a good deal of people online on different projects and Ive always been solid with my paypal payments. I will NOT however pay you up front. If you want to take the job, you finish the job before you get paid.

I guess I should state the obvious that in order to get paid you contact me first that youre taking the job. I dont want anybody getting crazy ideas of completing the character, dropping it on my email doorstep and demanding money without ever talking to me first. Not that I think anybody would be that crazy but you never know.

NOW TO SCARE EVERYONE AWAY

If you want the job here are the explicit terms

No amateurs. Im not even going to humor you if you dont have a body of character work already for me to inspect to see if you are a creator I should respect. Even having a body of work is no guarantee I will work with you. Plenty of creators create nothing but broken unbalanced characters that might as well have not even been made. I can be especially harsh here.

You do everything from gathering the sprites, adding the sound effects and fx and coding. The only thing I'll be doing is checking your work.

Character to Game Accuracy is important to me. While I understand some things just dont fly in Mugen...such as not having air blocking or doing that jump into the background thing from Fatal Fury...otherwise I want the character to function just like their home game or at least as much as reasonably possible.

You get one week. That's the deadline. If you take more than a week, you're fired. I dont care if you claim you only had 10% to go or something like that youre still fired and not seeing a dime from me. The longer someone takes in my experience the likelihood of them procrastinating skyrockets. I've been "one more day"ed for 2 months straight before when it was something if I was doing it could be done in a couple of hours.

I know for a fact a week is plenty of time to get this done by a creator who knows what theyre doing. POTS no joke finished Scratchy and Rock in about 2-3 hours each and theyre both solid. Im not paying you to be lazy. Hopefully if I get stuck with a procrastinator I wont be paying them at all.

First come, first served. Whoever applies and shows me they dont suck at character creation first gets the job. If that person screws up and gets fired for whatever reason...I'll move onto whoever is next in the list of applicants and yes I'll take notice of which order you applied in. I will be fair as possible.

Some of these bounty targets I will be going into sorta blind...As in even I may not have played the source game. It's certainly the case for this first bounty target. That's why I think it will be a good idea to beta release the thing here on the forums to see if anyone notices any flaws in the character I will have missed. Also itd be nice to know it was relatively bug free before I pay you. As soon as it passes that test. Payday. 50 USD from paypal

Benefits:

the first person who succeeds at this will be my go to person for the next target if theyre interested. They will also be my go to person for when I release my own characters which I'll probably be willing to pay more for. I know 50 USD is less than this hard work is worth realistically its just the amount I can pay per character without losing my mind and also going broke.

If this all goes well Id like to do a lot of characters. Maybe up to 12 a year. As long as they are all solid creations I think Ill be happy.

First Bounty target is Yamato from Dragoon Might

pm me or email me if you're interested.

Good luck

No, Im afraid it did behave this way before now that I went back and double checked. I assume this is all because of the AI ramping coding which is a total nightmare for someone trying to get accurate order= ratings...

No that wasnt what I was confused about.
I know all about setting order.

I was confused why a former easy to fight character has now jumped to boss level when transferred to Mugen 1.0.

Now I've noticed something more peculiar and ominous.

If I fight "Mimi" on round 1 there's no obvious difference from old Mugen

any round besides 1 and she skyrockets in difficulty.

Is Mugen doing some kind of automatic difficulty increase round by round? And then such a drastic increase just in round 1?

Doesnt that kind of ruin the main need for an order system?

If anyone knows whats going on tell me

Currently Im switching over to MUGEN 1.0 and I figured I'd go and double check all the old order= values for the characters.

Not too far in and one of the things I was afraid was going to happen happened. An order=1 from old MUGEN became beyond boss level in MUGEN 1.0.

The character in question is Luchini's Mimi from Metal and Lace.

Just what is MUGEN 1.0 doing to the old character's AI and is there any way to reverse it or do anything about it, because right now she's basically no fun to fight and I'm sure she wont be the last instance.

I was trying to get Choiyer's Racheal to work on MUGEN 1.0 and I saw that it didnt have anything besides 1 alternate palette, so I spent the last couple hours making some extra palettes for her.

Hopefully somebody will get some small appreciation out of this

Mugen 1.0 dos2win

Been in the process of tranferring over my old Winmugen to the newer 1.0 and it wasnt long till I ran into the following problem.

When I tried to run Choiyer's Racheal from Martial Champion it seemed the old dos2win fix had come undone for some reason. She still looks perfect on the old winmugen (doublechecked just to be sure) so I thought maybe Mugen 1.0 may have did some weird auto correcting and I needed a clean copy so I went and hunted down a clean copy and that didnt help; not that I had high hopes.

If every character I ever used dos2win one is bound to become undone it's really going to suck because there's been quite a few over the years.

Am I missing something obvious? Is dos2win just massively incompatible with 1.0?

And if I am just screwed, what's the slow way of fixing the character's colors

Mugen 1.0 missing .dll file

I finally caved and downloaded MUGEN 1.0 and apparently it wont run on my comp. Says some .dll file "libresample.dll is missing; but I suspect that isnt Elecbyte's fault but rather something with my comp since if it was a known downloading issue then everyone would know about it. Would me having Windows 2000 when it says XP result in a missing .dll file error?

Yeah I realized this was a 1.0 forum as soon as I exited the thread.

I found the thread using google; I was looking to find some answers regarding the character (why he crashes my Mugen) and this is basically my go to mugen forum. So yeah; my bad.

As for a 1.0 incentive.

Not everyone likes 1.0
For now; I hate it.

It makes MUGEN exclusionary instead of inclusionary like it should be.
I've been out of the MUGEN game for a bit and maybe I'm missing some obvious MUGEN tool like dos2win that instead makes 1.0 revert to old.

So please zvitor until such a tool comes around; make your characters backwards compatible if you can

Guess I'll continue to prep and hope you do indeed bring the site back. I miss it already

I just found out about this site and I want to help.

One thing I want to get clear though. What is the line on Hentai characters. I dont have any real intention of posting any out and out Hentai characters but I've had characters in my Mugen that stayed around awhile before I realized they even had any nudity in them. I just dont want to get banned for anything stupid like that.

Also is there any reason not to go posting every character and stage under the sun that I find in the database?

Wasnt sure this is quite worth a rerelease, but I decided some people might appreciate it.

Gombie 2.1 (minor fixes. Now comes with Move Sheet and TipSheet)
http://www.sendspace.com/file/rkkgoc

Scratchy (Now comes with Move Sheet and TipSheet)
http://www.sendspace.com/file/3qjdj0

If you have these characters already, just taking a look at the Tip Sheet might change your whole perspective on their gameplay...You could see them as a Director's commentary on the characters. Especially in Scratchy's case I doubt people realize all the little nuances.

Oh and ALL my Mugen releases so far can be found here

Enjoy.

Despite visual appeal, if a character can chain hit you to death even if you're blocking as soon as the battle begins the whole character seems kind of a waste.

This character has actually been done for almost a year, but there's always seemed to be some reason not to release. Most of them doing with sprite cleanup, but I've come to the realization itd be another 5 years if I kept being so picky.

To avoid confusion with Rock Howard you can refer to this character as Rock Goomba even though technically he is just called Rock.

He comes with an ending, move sheet and tip sheet.

I also of course made a stage for him.

So basically Im asking; what's the gimmick?

I reworked all of Scratchy's sprites (Ugh) and finally gave him a full set of 12 palettes. It's not complete perfection but you probably wont notice unless you were examining the sprites up close and I was afraid to work on it anymore after my imaging program started undoing my work.

The link in the first post has changed to reflect this.

Anyway enjoy.

Stupid Fact: Most of his palettes are meant to reflect the color of the leaves in his tree winpose.
