So I was playing Matrimelee the other day and noticed that if you use a life draining move (Elias') to refill your lifebar you could score perfect, despite of taking damage. Same thing for Rage of the dragons and Soul Calibur IV.

Does this apply to other games?

Duos.act

I am pretty sure Shuma Gorath can do that in the Marvel vs series.

SnowShingo

i'm pretty sure heidern in KOF could do that with his life drain attacks. i don't think there's been a character in SF history that's had life drain moves, but elena  in sf3 can get perfects is she uses her healing super.

Kirishima

Shang Tsung in MK vs DC has this kind of move.

Jesuszilla

But does it give him a perfect?

I don't remember whether or not Heidern's did that. I want to say it didn't but I think I'd be wrong there.

Starlogical

Yoshimitsu from Tekken has a drain move.
I don't think it was in the first 2 tekkens though.

Yeah, but I do find it hard to do so, yoshimitsu's drain doesn't really heal that much, and I find it kinda hard to do the command.
Maybe it's the playstation dpad.

I don't see why developers can't make it so that characters can't heal fully.

Cyanide

You get perfects with omega red doing that. You can also get a perfect by using kensou's rice bun.

AFAIK perfects really only look at your life at the end of the round, not if you got hit.

In M.U.G.E.N there is no magic button

They say a little knowledge is a dangerous thing, but it's not one half so bad as a lot of ignorance.

Ragna can do this in Blazblue.

CT or CS?

CS seemingly doesn't give Ragna a Perfect if he gets his health to full.

I remember seeing Heidern getting a perfect this way in 95, but don't recall seeing a similar situation in later games.

Yes, he does. It's one of his normal grabs, when he picks enemy with his tentacles and absorbs life (I used all the time, very useful)

I think in general if you get a character that drain life you can win with a perfect. In the end, the game only noticed about how much your lifebar is full/empty, not about damage you received in a fight. So, I think every character that can drain life sure can win with perfect, no matter if he received damage.

But... I've the doubt about Marvel Super Heroes, the Life gem especifically (that can gains life if you didn't hit)

Nope. Only in T3 and beyond. I have the game I can check if a perfect is possible.

Both. CS Ragna's life draining just isn't as noticeable.

Loud Howard

i still remember of leona using Life-Draining attacks, but idk what KoF was

IIRC it looked that way, but only did damage, if you're talking about the Grateful Dead DM.

Bea

She had a life draining move on KOF96 GB, and you could get a perfect with it.
Princess Adora: "My friend saw She-Ra take her dress off in the shower. She said she has an 8 pack. She said She-Ra is shredded."

SF2NES is dead. Long live SF2NES.

The Orochi mode specific to that version, I take it? I know the alternate characters got some different things, but the regular versions didn't get major modifications.
